"eyewitness news" david spunt is live at the park and david, this has been a long time coming. >> reporter: yes, it has, almost two years, people will officially be allowed back in for the grand opening and dedication in the spring, but tomorrow, for christmas village, thousands expected to go through and despite the problems and delays, the head of parks and recreations says it will not

whole lot headed our way. this next system out of the midwest will not drag a cold front through here until saturday evening and that's perhaps the next chance to pick unthe sprinkle. i'll show you that coming up in a bit. first look at the temperatures dropping rapidly. two degrees over past hour, 38 in philadelphia. 34 in reading and allentown, only 25 in mount pocono right now. and it's still a bit breezy. now, the winds are dying down, about 15 to 20 miles an hour earlier. now we're looking a the five to ten with a few stronger windows gusts across portions of the shore points, breezy, making it feel colder than the thermometer indicates. but it does stay pretty seasonal, you can see over time, we're going to average out close to normal through the thanksgiving weekend. when we hit our valley tomorrow, tomorrow is the coldest day of this extended weekend. we're back towards normal black friday and we peak briefly as we start the actual weekend saturday before yet another the front comes through on sunday. we'll tell you when that front moves through and we'll break

down your thanksgiving day time period to help you plan your outdoor activities, jessica back over to you. >> the thanksgiving travel rush is well underway. if you still planning on driving, you'll have planet of company. alexandria hoff joins us from a busy center city. alex? >> reporter: jess, according to aaa, the number of americans traveling 50 miles or more is up to 3.3% and most of that is taking place on the roadway. what about those drivers who have driven let's say 500 miles instead of 50? well, they have a very unique experience. through the sky or on the rails, hundreds of thousands of travelers from our area are moving from point a to point b. >> here we are two and a half hours early and we'll probably wait two hours. >>reporter: according to aaa, 89% of those traveling will do so on the road and for some, the journey is the destination. >> fred invited us to get a peak

inside of his thanksgiving home away from home >> i can make my own thanksgiving dinner right here if i need to. >> reporter: since many stores and loading stations will be closed for the holiday, he's happy to rest up at a south jersey rest stop. >> i'm unloaded a day early. i unloaded today and i reload on friday. so i'm going to be here for thanksgiving tomorrow. >> reporter: because so many long haul truckers are in the same boat, this particular rest area hosts a dinner >> it's going to be the traditional turkey with the trimmings. >> reporter: it's a happy relief after dealing with loaded freeways. >> avoid the daytime traffic. especially on the east coast. >> reporter: when making it home is in the cards, this season is proof that there is no station, terminal or roadway too crowded >> how many holidays do you think you missed with your family >> a few, i rarely go home.

that happened on the 2100 bill clinton of 66th street around 6:30. police say the 27-year-old victim died at presbyterian hospital. right now, a 26-year-old man is in critical condition and the third victim, a 31-year-old woman is in stable condition. also tonight, authorities recovered the remains of two people who were still missing after a fire destroyed a senior living community in west chester. the atv said investigators found the remains yesterday. none of the victims' identities have been released last thursday night's fire at barkley friends injured 27 residents there. the cause is still under investigation. three cbs employees have come forward saying they too experienced sexual misconduct by charlie rose, cbs news fired the news man tuesday after the "washington post" published the harassment claims of eight women and there is more fall-out tonight. arizona state university is considering revoking an reward

given to rose. he received the walter cronkite award for excellence in journalism is 2015. a husband and wife are facing first-degree murder charges. they're accused of killing 31-year-old of collingdale. on monday police responded to a shopping center on ridge pike where they found him dead in the driver's seat of a buick which crashed into parked car. police say the suspects agreed to meet him there to buy heroin. authorities say the couple stole the heroin and then stabbed him to death. the u.s. navy continues to search tonight for three missing personnel after the crash of a transport plane in the pacific ocean. the c-2 greyhound transport crashed on the way to the u.s.s. ronald reagan aircraft carrier. suffered a rare dual engine failure. eight people survived the crash and are in good condition. it was one year ago today a package exploded at a house near

18th and pine in center city. and a man was seriously injured. there have still not been any arrests in this case. and now authorities hope this exclusive new video can help them. it shows the person police say delivered the bomb walking near 3rd and callowhill. suspect targeted 60-year-old jim alled end, he was blasted with shrapnel and lost a finger. >> we've exhausted all leads at this point. it was a targeted attack. the package had the address and name of the victim on it >> the atv said there's still a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. an unusual bank robbery arrest in university city to tell you about, police say emily cokely who is 86 years old robbed a td bank, near 38th and walnut yesterday afternoon. according to bank employees, she pulled out a gun and demanded $400. officers arrested her and also found a gun. meek mill is spreading cheer

while behind bars, family and friends of the philly rapper headed out 1,000 free turkeys to the community. tomorrow morning in the 20's. let's take a look outside we'll start you right now on the neighborhood network, palmyra cove nature park looking towards the city. you can see the lights of city lit up a few clouds in place but skies clearing, and as sky clear, we got cooler conditions moving in across the region. the winds are dying down, that's the good news, and stormscan 3 shows not a whole lot of anything headed our way, there's a fronts lurking across portions of the northern plains, that will come through late saturday as i'll show you until then, everything pretty quiet with sunshine each day. your almanac, 55 was our high, it was a little bit above average, you can see our morning low was above average. that's because we started the day with clouds and few showers kept temperatures relatively mild and temps went nowhere in the afternoon, only rising four degrees from the morning low to the afternoon high. feels like temperatures right now when we factor in that little breeze from the northwest, still around, feels like the 20's already and feels

like no better than freezing here in philadelphia. feeling like 30 up in trenton. feeling like 12 right now in mount pocono. future weather showing again, sunshine through your thanksgiving day, here's 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. maybe you're just sitting down to eat, maybe you've eaten, depends, i know a lot like to eat early, some eat regular dinnertime, either way, 3:00 p.m. looking fantastic. friday sun, here's 3:00 p.m. for black friday shoppers, the next front comes in saturday. skinny line of showers off to the west saturday morning, we will see sunshine to start the day, here comes the front doesn't have much with it. 4:00 p.m. maybe a stray sprinkle here or there. most of the area will stay dry but that will reenforce some of the trial. the holiday forecast, sunny, chilly but green light same story for friday and saturday. clouds will increase there could be that late day sprinkle i don't think it will impact any travel plans.
