your winter jacket, yes, maybe you can get yourself a new nice pair of mittens, if you're headed out this morning , because you need them it is a cool, cool start to the day. the good news for us, while it was cold yesterday afternoon, it is not going to be like that this afternoon. so, if you are maybe someone that wants to sleep in little bit. you don't want to get up and deal with the cold, and the crowds here early, early on, on "black friday," it is going to be a little bit nicer this afternoon. you'll still need the jacket later in the day, but see temperatures today, in afternoon hours, definately warmer than what we had yesterday. storm scan3, a very quiet scene on this "black friday" morning, you see few high clouds up through part of the lehigh valley, then into the poconos, then far northeastern pennsylvania, but in general, it is going to be a very clear morning, and a very sun-filled afternoon. right now, here in fill, we sit at 31 degrees, down at the shore, maybe you had thanksgiving down at the shore point, chilly start there, as well. 27 degrees, that's our temperature up in the poconos.

so as i said, it is a cool, cool start. rest of the area, you see lot of 20's out there, wilmington, 29, reading, 26, down in wildwood, 27 degrees. so, again, pack the gloves, hats, and scarfs and jacket, throughout the morning hours. down in the philly area, actually, through the afternoon hours today, it will be little warmer than there is see temperatures in the 50's around philly, we will be also in the 50's down the shore, as well, rahel, jan, i'll talk a little bit about what we can expect over the weekends when i come back. >> matt, thank you. let's take a look at the roads now, bucks county route one oxford valley road. headlights are thriving northbound, if you can call those headlights, couple of people out there headed toward trenton, new jersey, look out for possible increased volumes of traffic as the day goes on, especially in this area, two malls just off the roadway. ninety-five gets closer to the city looking at good driving time there. i59 near cottman with tail light moving southbound toward the city. a lot of people there, but do you want to keep an eye out on

"eyewitness news" reporter anita oh, live at the king of prussia mall this morning, it is a very quiet mall at this point, anita, good morning. >> good morning, guys. yes, you say that it is quiet right now. but it is not going to stay that way. of course, as the shoppers arrive here at 6:00 this morning, when most of the stores reopen, joining me now, cathy smith, the director of marking here at the king of prussia mall. kathy thanks for being with up with us. how can people expect stress free holiday today? >> we have 13,000 parking spaces here. we've got three garages. we've got vallet service,

parking should not be a problem. we've also got great place to take it easy when you need a break. stop by our consierge, there is complimentary coffee, cookies, recharge, too, plenty of device charging stations everywhere. so plenty of ways to come and have a stress-free experience. we've got over 55 restaurants now. restaurants, eateries, and 43 new stores this year alone. so it can be a really wonderful stress-free experience. >> now, most people, a lot of people, are shopping more and more on line. but this is one of the largest malls in the country. there is so much here. what can people expect when they walk through the doors that they can't expect anywhere else? >> despite the on line shopping, we've had number of stores that have opened in the past year that were previously on line, and they've wanted to have a brick and mortar presence, so you can find

"eyewitness news" at the gloss cents at the premium outlets in camden county. people flooded the stores to take advantage every big sales some wait in the long lines just to get into the stores, one shopper told us about the eager crowd. >> it is very busy. it is crowded. there is a lot of bumming, and no, not many, excuse me, either, things like that. >> oh, that's not nice. some told us they went shopping last night to walk off the thanksgiving dinner. others used as an excuse to extends the time they have with their family while most say it was about the savings. all about the benjamin's. >> new york city shoppers pushed away from the

thanksgiving table, macy early opened their doors early, store opened 5:00 p.m. shoppers lined up outside hours before the store even opened. >> and for some, the thanksgiving holiday wasn't all about the shopping or the food or the football. some in our area took a break from the norman decided to celebrate in different ways. take a look, "eyewitness news" was at dilworth park last night, where folks took to the ice instead of the local malls and at 30th street station, we caught up with two friends who usually spend their thanksgiving in germany. >> we had great experience when he was living in germany. so american way of celebrating thanksgiving but this year completely different. kids are gone. what are we going to do? >> breeze back over here, go into philly. >> now, this was the first thanksgiving those two spent in the u.s. in eight years. ironically, though, the holiday involved no thanksgiving feast, no bargain hunting, no football. >> philadelphia has successfully pulled off yet another thanksgiving day

parade now going 98 years strong, floats marching bands, other musical act, marched down the ben franklin parkway yesterday, this is the oldest thanksgiving day parade in the country. performers for more than 100 different groups arrived early to rehearse the routine. >> we are super excited to be here. we're not just honed or, we're blessed, because it is that thanksgiving. >> now, the crowds cheered for their favorite bands, and float along with their favorite football team of course lots of eagles fans out there. security was tight all along the route. philadelphia police secured all entrances around the art museum there with trucks. >> security cram upped up at the macy day parade in new york, around 3 million lined the parade route to take in all of the excitement. preparations for securing the months started months in advance. city officials say no credible threats against the city or the parade. >> oh, no. balloon down, candy cane float

popped yesterday in new york, at the start of the parade there, we're told it was a gust every winds that blew the float into a tree branch, the only balloon that deflated all day. and fortunately, no one was hurt. >> back here at home, local service member is home for the holidays after a nine month deployment in kuwait. >> army reserve sergeant jason scott returned yesterday just in time for a home cooked thanksgiving meal. "eyewitness news" reporter henry rosoff has the story that far very special homecoming. >> what's normally a sleepy thanksgiving morning at the blackwood firehouse. complete company, hole i shall g up the trucks, ahead of very important mission. >> we're all one large family. we support each other. >> for more than nine months, fire lieutenant jason scott has been sort of missing in action from this place. >> while he was away and deployed we kept his gear ready to be used. >> he has been serving in kuwait as sergeant in the army research. which is why firefighters deployed to stott's home.

to set up a 30-foot high hero 's welcome. >> even our volunteers, yes. so right now everything is set , the flag is in place, any moment from now, lieutenant st ot. it will come rolling down the street into his neighborhood. >> they're coming now. >> attention. >> then, suddenly, stott emerging, boots on the grounds he hugs, and warmly welcomes, each and every familiar hometown face. >> so glad you're home. >> stott then turned his attention to his fire fighting family. though perhaps no one is more excited to welcome him home than this. his most recent deployment came most recently. >> i cried probably for the first six months that he left. >> and i didn't think woe make it home for thanksgiving.

>> but now this community can give thanks torah picture perfect moment. >> both to be standing here today, it is surreal. >> fire lieutenant and army sergeant jason stott home for the holidays n blackwood, henry rosoff, cbs-3, " eyewitness news." >> and a sad update this morning, the search has ended for three sailors who went missing after us navy plane crashed in the pacific ocean. the sailors were a boards a c2 a greyhounds transport plant when crashed into the festival of families mean sea near oak inch owe with a, it was headed to the uss ronald reagan aircraft carrier. eight people survived the crash, and are in good condition. details about the three miss having not yet been released. >> and fears remain high in the search for missing argentine submarine, more than week has passed since the navy sub vanished in the atlantic ocean. argentine officials say unexplained explosion was detected near the last confirmed location of the sub. the submarine was caring 44 crew members from southern argentina to its home base in

the northern part of the country. >> new this morning, fire officials are trying to find out what caused an early morning fire in west oaklane. flames broke out at a home on the 1300 block of east price street, just past midnight. heavy smoke and fire burned through the roof of that home. fire crews were able to get it under control. no one was hurt. >> and update now in the appeal for the murder sentence of olympic runner oscar pistorius. today the athlete's prison term was increased to 13 years by a south african court. that's more than double his original six year sentence. prosecutors there argue the initial sentence was too light the pistorius convicted of shooting and had killing of girlfriends back in 2013. >> still to come on " eyewitness news": frightening moment for for a missouri mother. >> a lot of things are going through my head. how can i get us out, before we get stuck in here. >> this pregnant woman's suv was singing and her toddler was also in the car, how she ended up in the water, how she

missouri thankful her husband is alive after escaping their sinking suv. >> incredible story. heather said she was driving with her two year old when a dog ran in front of her vehicle. that's what she swerved, hit a ditch and catapulted into the pond. she said she had to kick out a window in order to escape, and swim 20 to 30 feet with a broken arm. >> i was swimming with this one, pulling them one this one , my right arm, and i could hear him getting little bit of warmer every now and then. >> get. >> this she said her husband was actually driving by when he look over at the pond and saw his family struggling to get out of the water. he quickly jumped into action to rescue them. >> all of those elements are incredible individually, together just a wild story. >> glad they're okay. >> some folks in washington state spent thanksgiving day dealing with the worse flooding they've seen in 11 years. >> people living in the northwest forced from their homes yesterday as the river overflowed its banks, officials say the river crested at around 35 feet. that's the highest it's been

since 2006. flood warnings remain in effect until later this evening. that's incredible videoment look at that truck. >> bring matt peterson into this, matt, not dealing with so much rain today, it was chilly yesterday, but looks like we are warming up a bit. that would be nice. >> this is the start of what should be decent warming trends continues into next week even. so we've had this cold temperatures, really kind of dealt with below normal highs for more than couple of days, but, today should be pretty seasonable. have a really warm day tomorrow. and then we could get warmer as gee into next week, as women. here are the headlights for our friday, it will be great shopping weather today. if you are one of those folks that likes to get up, and get those "black friday" deals, you're going to have wonderful conditions. not going to be standing in the rain, not going to need to take the umbrella now, it is cool this morning, so take the winter jacket with you. because we're only in the 30's but, later this afternoon, we see plenty of sunshine, now bit of mixed bag going through the weekends as colds front rolls through. then as i said a warming trends takes over. and we get very, very comfortable as we head through

most of next week. for today: sunshine out there seasonable high of 52 degrees. our average high for this time of year. fifty-three, right where we need to be. southwest winds, five to 10 miles per hour, might even be lower than that. so really not too much going on in the winds department today. overnight tonight, once again, pretty seasonable evening for us, generally clear skies, and we call it cool, even though it is seasonable, because 40 isn't necessarily warm. our mixed bag through the weekends, go with the colds front, comes sweeping through, going through really the overnight hours on saturday, into sunday, allowing some cooler air to filter in, as a weak high pressure center kind of slides in, just off to the south and west throughout the day on sunday and then into monday. so, what does this all mean? it means we have very mild day tomorrow. highs could be up near 06 degrees even here in the delaware valley saturday afternoon. we could also see few spotty showers, come mixing in, as we have that cold front come across the area, again, that's later in the day saturday. then some could actually

change over little bit of light flurry activities, we won't see any here in fill, but new flurries, maybe early sunday, then sunday afternoon, we clear things out, it is sunny, breezy, but much cooler as we ends our weekends. here is our seven day forecast , as i said, very warm temperatures tomorrow. up to 57 degrees. but that late day shower is out there. we are down, though, to 48 by sunday, so the game little on the cool side. then the warming trend, up to almost 60 degrees, rahel, jan, by wednesday. so, you know, getting little bit of maybe early winter thawing to start out the month >> like it, matt. 5:19. time to check the roads, still looking pretty good out there. here is a look at i-95 near i 476, with headlights headed northbound toward the city. drive times are favorable with 60 minute drive from i476 to i 676, also 16 minute drive from i676 to i476. >> here is another reminder about the alternate to the
