is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> right now at 11 o'clock, police fire their weapons in trenton, new jersey, tonight sending one person to the hospital and two others running. good evening, i'm natasha brown. police say two officers fired after the suspect reached for a gun in his waist band and turned to face police. alycia nieves is in trenton with what we know so far about this incident. >> reporter: well, natasha, we know the mercer county homicide task force is out here investigating this officer-involved shooting. you can see authorities still out here now and they have been here for hours. because the homicide task force is investigating this, that does not mean the man shot has succumbed to his injury. that unit is assigned to this investigation per attorney general guidelines. authorities in new jersey investigating an officer-involved shooting after around 5:15 this evening trenton street crimes unit stopped a group of men along

pennington avenue near calhoun. while conducting their investigation with these men, it was discovered that one of them was armed with a handgun in his waist band. when police made that discovery they say the man pulled away from detectives and then started running. moments later he reached for the gun from his waist band as he turned his body towards the detectives. two trenton officers discharged their firearms and the man was struck. the man running and shot by police collapsed in the back of a home along pennington avenue. authorities were able to recover a handgun in a nearby yard and say no officers were injured during this event but that in the chaos of things the other men who police had stopped, they were able to flee the scene. and we're told the man shot by police here was transported to capitol health regional medical center where he is currently being treated for his injuries. authorities are not releasing that man's name nor his condition. reporting live, alycia nieves cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> alycia thank you.

police investigating after a man and a woman were found dead in bensalem. authorities say they responded around 5:30 p.m. to reports of of a shooting near the cornwell heights park and ride. that's where they found the two people. all eastbound lanes on woodhaven road to 95 were closed but have since reopened. investigators surrounded a silver vehicle on the ramp. police are not preleasing any more details at this point. biggest shopping holiday behind us many local businesses were hoping for a black friday-like boost today. some local shops received a lot of customer traffic today on this small business saturday. >> reporter: inside born yesterday off rittenhouse square, they're not just selling clothing and toys for children this small business saturday. >> adorable. >> reporter: they're selling service. >> we gift wrap for free. we help people find what they need. >> reporter: that level of personal attention is exactly why heather comes in today not

sure what to get as a present for her niece. >> gave us a few different ideas, piggy bank. >> small businesses in general put money right back into the neighborhoods. >> reporter: at el lori amanda camp field says supporting local stores has a snowball effect. >> anyone can shop at king of prussia for black friday and everything but once you're in philadelphia you're going to stop at the local businesses, you're going to stop here, what we don't carry you'll hit somewhere else. >> reporter: perhaps at the cafe inside united by blue a retailer and coffee shop. management doesn't even have time for an interview. though shopper meg cavanaugh does while searching for new socks. >> we just moved to philadelphia so we came out to support the local shops. >> reporter: although it's called small business saturday most of the businesses we're speaking with around town today are extending any discounts they may be offering until sunday. inly philadelphia, henry

rosoff cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> philadelphia's mayor jim kenney, this morning he perused some of the shops in west philly starting at chestnut street. now, he also met some of the folks who keep the small businesses in business. if you are still looking for bargains or want to avoid the crowds altogether, cyber monday is a great option for you. a record number of americans are expected to shop online this monday, many right on their cell phones. but experts warn consumers should watch out for fake web sites that might look legitimate. experts say make sure to use a web site or mobile browser with a valid http connection and a lock symbol as well. it was a great day for shoppers to get out, support small businesses but the chill was definitely still in the air. meteorologist lauren casey is taking a sneak peek at the rest of the weekend and the all important football forecast lauren for that tomorrow. >> yes, big day tomorrow of

course the eagles going for 10 and one. we're going to get it but today was a mild kickoff to the weekend. 58 degrees our high temperature in philadelphia, running 6 degrees above our average high temperature. we started off this long holiday weekend on thanksgiving with a high temperature of only 42. we've been moving up ever since but tomorrow we're going to take a small step back. we started the day around average at 35 degrees this morning but temperatures this evening are significantly more mild. on the front side of a cold front that is moving through as we speak but temperature change over the last 24 hours, we're up 7 degrees in philadelphia, check that out, we're up 21 degrees from this time yesterday in allentown, but once that front comes through, we are going to see some slightly cooler air building in on the backside. so, for kickoff of the eagles taking on the bears tomorrow at the linc breezy and cool with a temperature of 49 degrees. nice sunshine around into the rest of the game, 47 degrees risk and chilly by game's end when we will be 10 and one but yeah, those wind chills could be in the upper 30's for a

good portion of the day. this will be our chilliest day for the foreseeable future. your full "eyewitness news" forecast coming up natasha. >> lauren thank you. a delaware state police trooper meantime most recently assigned to troop two in newark has died unexpectedly. sergeant rodney bond had a fatal heart attack while on a jog. he was just 40 years old. bond was a 14 year veteran of the delaware state police. haw he was also a member of the state police honor guard unit. another person is dead another injured. police say the driver was traveling in the southbound lanes on the boulevard when he lost control and slammed into a tree. a 21-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at that scene. the driver is hospitalized and is currently stable. u.s. border agents have

nabbed a florida teenager considered a person of interest in the death of his own grandmother. customs officials say 15-year-old logan mott was caught trying to enter canada from buffalo, new york, around 7 o'clock last night. he and his 53-year-old grandmother were reported missing from their neptune beach home earlier this week. now, police say a body that matched her description was found yesterday in the backyard of the home. they do suspect foul play at this point. mott was initially taken into custody on suspicion of auto theft. he was caught driving a car that police believe was his grandmother's. also a u.s. border patrol agent who died while on duty was laid to rest today. family and friends gathered for a private memorial service in texas for rogelio martinez. martinez died last sunday while he was working. his death still remains somewhat of a mystery to investigators. they say martinez and a fellow agent were discovered at the bottom of a ravine after they had responded to a sensor

triggered call. the other agent suffered injuries and was released from the hospital. now, the egyptian military attacked the hideouts of those they say carried out the deadliest terror attack in country's history. hundreds were killed during a ambush at a mosque on friday. cbs correspondent mola lenghi has more from washington. >> reporter: egyptian fighter jets carried out strikes on vehicles believed to be involved in the massacre at a mosque in northern sinai. more than 300 people were killed including children. survivors say islamic extremists took positions around the mosque's windows and doors and opened fire with rocket propelled grenades as the imam was just about to deliver his sermon. 13-year-old abdullah acknowledged get away. >> the interpreter: everybody was climbing on top of each other. as i tried to get out a bullet entered my leg.

a. >> reporter: hospital hallways were littered with the injured. grieving families claimed the body of their loved ones for burials. egyptian officials say this is the first ever large scale attack on a muslim congregation. worshipers there practice sufi branch of islam. so far no one has claimed responsibility for this carnage. the president of egypt has vowed to respond with brutal force for those responsible for the attack. >> family members of the missing argentine submarine crew gathered for a demonstration at the naval base today. on friday argentina's president promised that the international search for the missing crew would continue. the submarine carrying 44 crew members has been lost in the south atlantic for nine days now. the argentine navy says an explosion occurred near the time and place where the

>> welcome back everyone. the couple with quite possibly the longest marriage in america just celebrated their 85th wedding anniversary. cbs news correspondent lora podesta was at the big party and tell us what they think is the secret to a long lasting and loving relationship. >> reporter: it was 1932 when then 21-year-old john b. tar picked up his 17-year-old neighbor ann in this ford roadster for a first date. after just days of dating they decided to elope in harrison, new york. >> and they said that it wouldn't last. [laughter] >> reporter: 85 years later, now aged 106 and 102 with five children, 15 grandchildren and more than a dozen great

grandchildren, they're still together and clearly still in love. >> i love your cooking. >> reporter: to celebrate their historic relationship their family gathered for a big party in fairfield, connecticut, a few miles from where the two met. now, what ann and john don't know is the same model car they drove to their first date is a surprise for them here at this anniversary party. >> look at that car. >> reporter: with a little assistance ann and john were able to get in and relive those first moments of their relationship. >> you are my honey. like old times. >> reporter: and as they continue down lover's lane, anne has wise words for other married couples hoping to make it 85 years. >> listen to one another no matter what the situation is. we're not arguing. we're listening and we've always listened. >> reporter: quite possibly a recipe for lasting love. in fairfield, connecticut,

laura podesta, cbs news. >> so sweet. in other news now hundreds of people took to the streets of paris france today calling on the government to implement stronger measures and allocate more funds to fight against sexual violence. >> ♪ just hours after president emmanuel macron announced a series of measures to tackle the issue activists gathered to denounce the government's lack of political ambition. according to many of the folks rallying there isn't enough money in the budget to enforce any of the new laws. >> these things are coming to us, reaching our cities and access the new rights provided by the law and unfortunately we do not have additional means to meet this growing expectation. >> it's been less than two years since france passed innovative legislation to fight prostitution.

>> ♪ and a similar scene played out in the streets of rome italy today. thousands of protesters rallied to condemn violence against women. on friday, italian police released figures showing that while there have been a drop of the number of murders committed in italy in the past 10 years the number of women killed remains almost unchanged. back at home a fraternity in philadelphia wants to ensure that kids in our region stay warm this winter. alpha phi alpha fraternity held its fourth annual cold war for kids coat drive today. this is this morning at burlington coat factory in center city. the fraternity raised money so it could provide winter gear for up to a hundred kids in need. the generosity didn't stop there, though, with just one coat. organizers say kids were also able to choose their new coat, hats and gloves as well. i guess they'll need all that of eventually. >> yeah. >> but we're going to get warmer so they might be able to put that into the closet.

>> can hold that off a little bit. mild temperatures in store. tomorrow will be our chilliest day for the foreseeable future so yeah getting a big break from old man winter but he's looming. he's going to come around but yeah, right now we did have a mild day topping in the upper 50's. we're at 48 degrees right now. winds still out of the southwest ahead of a cold front but we'll see a wind shift overnight tonight to the northwest and that will usher in some cooler air for our sunday but even with that breeze, wind chill temperature down at 44 degrees. but our high temperatures today were up there in the 60's in atlantic city, 62 degrees in dover, a 53-degree day in mount pocono in late november, yeah, that is mild, 58 degrees the high temperature in allentown. temperatures are still pretty mild as far as seasonable temperatures that we would see around this time of evening. 49 degrees in reading, 51 in allentown, still up near 50 degrees in a.c. 44 in wilmington. we do have some cooler air positioned upwind on the backside of this cold front but you can see it's not terrifyingly cold,

temperatures generally in the 30's and 40's. so we will see a bit of a cooldown bullet it's not -- but it's not going to be a big arctic blast as we head into the day tomorrow. in rehoboth people out strolling the boards in the evening. we have some returns now on radar but this is just showing us some sprinkle activity, maybe a couple of flurries working themselves through the poconos right now, carbon and monroe counties, that's really all the precipitation that's going to be generated by this frontal boundary and no precipitation in the forecast tomorrow. looking good but feeling a bit chilly. need that hot coffee in the morning, 42 degrees, sunshine as you're out and about later in the day upper 40's but of course those wind chills will feel a little bit cooler likely more like upper 30's as winds will be out of the northwest up around 10 to 20 miles per hour but we'll see this dip in the jet stream as we head into our sunday but then this big powerful ridge is going to kick all that cold air back up into the arctic and we're going to see this ridge overtake the eastern half of the country allowing

that more mild air to spill in from the south and west. it's really going to boost our temperatures up especially for tuesday and wednesday, talking about some 60's in store but overnight tonight, look for decreasing clouds, a light breeze, 41 degrees our overnight low. high temperatures don't climb too much tomorrow, mostly sunny breezy and chilly with a high temperature at 49 degrees. that's below our average. and after 50's today in mount pocono tomorrow you'll only be at 39 degrees. 50 degrees in dover but our seasonable weather will return as we head into monday. right around average at 51 degrees with plenty of sunshine to kick off the work week after the long holiday weekend and tuesday and wednesday, check out those days. sunshine and a high temperature near 60 degrees. thursday is the last day of november and high temperatures will still be in the middle 50's. >> that is quite pleasant. >> yes. >> i will not complain. you see lesley has her eyes on the eagles forecast. >> bundle up. a little breezy on the field

>> sixers in action tonight. >> that's right and we had a couple of people struggling here. you know, we had ben simmons, he was out with an elbow injury. so, guard t.j. mcconnell slid into the starting spot and guess what? he actually put up ben simmons-like numbers. to the third period mcconnell said he wanted to move the ball and he sure did. he'll nail the three. three rebounds shy of a triple-double. then in the fourth jj redick against his former team drains a tough shot and the foul but he wasn't finished. here in the fourth, reddick uses a screen to get a little room for yet another one of his deep 3's. he finished with 29 points and hit eight 3's to tie his career high. sixers win 130-111. penn state on the road facing maryland. it's been a tough year for the terrapins who met up with the nittany lions. penn state jumping out to a

>> ♪ >> welcome back. the holiday season is here and for many it's the time of the year that really does inspire generosity for a couple of australian paramedics that's exactly what it did. it meant granting a woman's dying wish. a patient nearing the end of her life was being taken to the hospital in queensland where she made a request of the paramedics. she wanted to see the beach one last time so the pair went above and beyond the call of duty making a special detour along the way. >> picked a he will rely good spot where she could see the pier and she says absolutely just ecstatic with it all and

she said to danielle, you know, she's content now, everything is just as it should be. >> one of the paramedics even used a medical bag filling it with sea water so that the patient could feel and taste the water during their trip. a photo of one of the paramedics standing here with the woman went viral liked more than 42,000 times on facebook. we'll be right back. >> ♪

>> many towns in the region decking the halls for the holidays and it's beginning to look a lot like christmas in manayunk right now. folks filled the sidewalks to watch the tree lighting ceremony tonight and there's santa walking through the streets smiling and waving at friends and families. the community event even had christmas carolers on hand singing classic christmas songs. if small business saturday didn't get you out of the house maybe a furry friend might do the trick. the pennsylvania spca offered free adoptions of cats and dogs all day long today. the shelter teamed up with north shore animal ways america and zappos for good for the home for the pawlidays event. the organizers say more than a hundred animals were rescued between the philadelphia and
