different female employee. lauer becomes latest high profile media personality, fired this year, over allegations of sexual misconduct including "fox news" host bill o'reilly and cbs morning co hoe charlie rose. lauer took over as co hoe in 1997. laura podesta for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". minnesota public radio fired gar son keeler over allegations of inappropriate, behavior made by a staffer. he retired last year as host of the prairie home companion radio show but stayed at npr to work on other projects. he told the associated press that he was fired over quote, a story that i think is more interesting, and more complicated, then the version npr heard. on capitol hill house speaker paul ryan says there is in place for sexual harassment in conquer anywhere or work place. >> fact that some people end up walking these halls are subjected to a threatening or hostile work environment when they came here to serve their

country, to serve their ideals , that is wrong. that is a disgrace. we cannot and we will not tolerate that kind of behavior >> his remarks came hours before house lawmakers plan to approve a measure requiring all house staffers to complete mandatory anti harassment training. we have new information tonight about the murder of a woman in west philadelphia victim was found yesterday, in a lot, in the 200 block of south forty-ninth street. police now say that she met her killer on social media. police do not know why the killer stabbed her and then set her body on fire, but the suspect is in custody. investigators are still trying to figure out what led to the deadly shooting on drexel's campus last night. police say a 24 year-old man and girlfriend were arguing on the 3500 block of lancaster avenue when another man intervened. officers say that man, fired three shots at the victim killing him. the shooter is in custody but some drexel students are still uneasy. >> we have seen like just, you

know, typical thing drunk kid walking around and stuff but there is never any violence involved of that nature. >> police say that the shooter did have a permit to care a gun, and that had not said why he fired, the shooter nor the victim were students at drexel a man who pleaded guilty to sucker punching an innocent man with cerebral palsy has been sent are sentenced to three to six years in jail. twenty-nine year-old barry baker was caught on video punching a man outside a 7-eleven in west chester back in may. baker was sentenced for simple assault, flight to avoid prosecution and for probation violations. he is in custody right now in chester county and will eventually be transferred to a state prison. authorities are on the look out for a vehicle that struck two teenagers killing one and injuring the other in, trevose bucks county, monday night. thaw police are relentlessly searching for this driver, involved in, this deadly, hit and run accident and they are pleading with him to turn himself in, or they will find him. lower southampton police are two days into an extensive investigation involving a deadly hit and run. >> immediate exposure and put on social media we have gotten a ton of promising: and, over some video that we cannot release at this time. >> reporter: accident which claimed the life of jessica and injured is year-old van arsdal happened monday 8:15 p.m. on street road and philmont avenue in trevose. they were crossing the street when they were hit by a man driving a late 90's model ford f150 truck, the police describe it as red and white or red and gray with the missing side mirror and ladder rack. >> i was collected, significant amount of physical evidence, the hopefully lead to a conclusion of

claim better protected bike lanes could have saved have the life of the woman who was killed while riding her bike yesterday. the protesters gathered at 11th and spruce, this morning to form a human bike lane, to protect cyclist. twenty-four year-old emily fredricks was killed in a collision with i garbage truck at that intersection, yesterday morning. and right now "eyewitness news" is live at the scene of the accident, for candle light vigil being being held for fredrick. a political action committee and the bicycle coalition organized the vigil in her memory. talking about weather now we're enjoying a taste of spring, in late november, meteorologist lauren casey's outside on the sky deck with how long the warm up will last , lauren. >> reporter: thanks, guess contact well, that is it, enjoy it right now because temperatures will be cooling back down to average, but we really don't have a taste of winter in sight as we head in the next several days and the first week end of december, and hard to believe it is november 29th, i'm in the wearing a coat, temperatures,

a first of its kind study suggest the world need to lose weight, to prevent cancer. correspondent terry okita tells us more in today's einstein health care science center report. >> reporter: diabetes is having a high body mass index or bmi cause 6 percent of cancers worldwide. that is according to researchers in london. >> 800,000 cancer cases each year attributed to overweight, obesity and diabetes. >> reporter: study looked at data on 175 countries and linked diabetes and obesity to 18 cancers. with liver, breast, and colon rectal cancer accounting for the most cases. diabetes and obesity affect sugar levels, inflammation, and hormones, which can increase cancer risk.

inside a north philadelphia apartment, and then taking that victim's body in a lift car, to his grandmother's house in the poconos. >> our greg argos joins us now in center city with more on today's developments in this disturbing case, greg. >> reporter: ukee, jessica good evening. today's hearing played out like a trial, the prosecution over the course of eight hours , called 10 different witnesses including the neighbor of josh hupperterz who described bone chilling screams the night jena burleigh went missing. surveillance video played in court wednesday afternoon shows 22-year old jena burleigh leaving pub webb, with joshua hupperterz and entering his home at 2:11 in the morning. around 2:15 temple grad noel sterling who lives in the same building as hupperterz said she heard noises and called temple police. less than two hours after they left she called temple police again when she heard yelling which sounded like a horror

movie scream like a murder in a horror movie just more real something i will never forget pennsylvania state police recovered jena's body inside a blue tote on the property owned by hupperterz grandmother in the poconos september 2nd, jena's parents and friends filled the courtroom wednesday as prosecution laid out their case, and the strong time line , showing how they say hupperterz transported burleigh's body from his philadelphia basement apartment to a shed on his family's property about two hours away, prosecutors say he inn listed help of his cousin and lyft drive to move that tote and told both men, books or clothes were inside. hupperterz dressed in a sweater and using crutch toes walk, stayed quiet the entire time writing notes to his attorneys. his only family member in court this with man who did not want to comment after the hearing. now the defense attorneys asking the judge to lower the charges to involuntary manslaughter but judge in this case denying that motion, and allowing all charges, including second degree murder

of course we also dealt with irma, maria that caused devastation in the caribbean, puerto rico still recovering from that with millions still without power and without drinking water. so certainly a very busy hurricane season, extremely active and close books on that as we head into the day tomorrow thankfully but for today, of course, back home a mild day 64 degrees our high temperature, our normal high 51. you can see that record 70 degrees setback in the 1920 's. we weren't too far from. that we started off mild's above average as well at 44 degrees, our normal low 35. live look at center city philadelphia on this mild november evening 61 degrees still even though the sun has set northwesterly wind at 8 miles an hour. we did have a cold front traverse over the last several hours, hard to notice except for the wind shift now winds are out of the northwest, so slowly pulling in some cooler air from the northwest and that will settle in as we head in the day tomorrow, even late

tonight we will see chilly temperatures overtaking the delaware valley but 51 degrees still in allentown. fifty-six in atlantic city still at 60-degree mark in wildwood as we loop wind that colder air on the back side of the frontal side of the boundary but we are not talking about a bitter blast but we are talking about slightly cooler temperatures that will bring our temperatures back closer to average, 48 in state college, 50 in pittsburgh and 47 on the back side of the front in scranton. storm scan three showing us very quiet conditions high pressure in control up and down eastern seaboard. hard to find a cloud even in future weather that will show us throughout the overnight period here. we could see cloud, patchy fog as we work into early tomorrow morning and good bit of sunshine for first half of the day looking nice as we look ahead toward your lunch hour tomorrow and increasing cloud into the afternoon and in advance of another frontal boundary which will be on the weaker said once again not very moisture laden, it will generate some showers especially west of i-95

overnight on thursday so most of us will be sleeping when the shower activity pulls on through, at 3:00 a.m. that line of shower activity in and along i-95 corridor pushing into south jersey early morning hours down the shore about five or 6:00 in the morning early commute along the coast you may run into those showers as we head early into friday morning. quickly decreasing cloud and sunshine will return as we head into the last day of the workweek and first day of the month of december, and overnight tonight a few passing cloud, chilling once again with temperatures falling back in the upper 30's and lower 40's. for our thursday temperatures right around average so significantly cooler from what we felt today but again just brings us back to average. sometime to start increasing included for second half of the day, so we will keep things very seasonal as we head into the next several days and we will see another flare up of mild eras we head into mid week next week but long range models telling us that hello, that is next thursday and friday
