findings completely wrong. at least four republicans are expressing concern about about the bill. the gop can only afford to lose two members. failure is not an option. we need a tax cut. >> john dickerson is here at the table live and in color. good morning to you, john. >> good morning, gayle. >> two votes doesn't give them a lot of wiggle room. what are the options? >> they're trying to cook up options. one of the extraordinary things they're trying to fly the plane while they build it. they're trying to pass it while they're writing it. tax legislation is completely complex. the careening effects are complex, so once you change something it affects something over here. nevertheless they're trying to get this vote done. it's a bit of a rush. >> i don't call the game gayle. i said if john dickerson.

>> i don't know. i mean there's extraordinary pressure to get this done to get something done and so i think when we've seen that kind of pressure act in the past lawmakers find a way to get it done and then they end up having to live with the results of things shot through in that kind of pressure environment. >> but republicans have dismissed these types of reports from nonpartisan reports, cbo in particular. the other issue when it came to health care, they're starting to do it now. is it going to move theall? >> it gives some pause to some senators. even if it had not been as troublesome as this one was, bob corker and jeff flake, the two senators holding it up from have old-fashioned fears about the government deficit. their argument is but we for a long time have argued that the debt and deficit actually hurt growth as well. so you can't on the one hand try to help growth with this if on the other hand it's hurting growth by creating a larger debt and deficit.

so they're not -- this isn't crazy talk. this has been longtime republican orthodoxy. in that sense what the joint committee on taxation said helps their case but really isn't central to it. they're arguing something republicans have argued for a long time. >> a bigger problem since the trigger method isn't being allowed by senate rules, right? >> trigger effect is they can change things in the future if it doesn't go the way the authors say it was planned to go. they're hard to craft. what happens when you get to the trigger point, they say, oh, never mind. let's get past the trigger. it's very hard to create this kind of thing and there are economic reasons you'd. want to create it anyway which gives opponents a substantive reason to go against what flake and corker are trying to do. >> cbs news has learned that john kelly has seen the plan and aproosked the plan to replace secretary of state rex tillerson

with the cia director mike pompeo. is tillerson dead man walking and how difficult is it do his job? >> i'm trying to think back to an incident where you had a yord coordinated effort where they say here's your hat, where's your hurry. so obviously he's not spiking for the president because the entire rest of the administration it seems, based on the way this has been coordinated, is saying he's not long for this job. so you've got to wonder then kind of okay why not just get it over with. and it also -- it's extraordinary when you look back and think about one of the arguments for the president is that he came from the world of business. i don't think you would have that situation in the world of business where you let the secretary of state kind of twist in the wind like this. so if there's going to be a change, it probably needs to happen soon because real things are happening in north korea. >> did he really have a chance

cousin. they were battling over custody of theirson. >> they hated each other. >> reporter: he claims he was brain washed to kill. he said he was vulnerable because he suffers from bipolar and other disorlders. >> she morphed me into whatever she wanted me to be. >> reporter: this surveillance shows buchbinder with jake paying for the sledgehammer the night before the attack and after stabbing dr. weiss and being wounded in the struggle, jake picked up the cell-tone, took this bloody selfie, and sent it to her. >> what is going through your mind when you took this picture? >> that i let down pamela. >> reporter: in march of 20163 1/2 years after the

consternation. >> and many republicans are saying ignore that report ignore that report the report is wrong. this was supposed to help the middle class. who does this help? >> there's no question it's a massive transfer. you can look through any of the provisions in terms of taking the corporate rates down. we could go on and on. the problem they nace now is two fronts. one is on a practical level. independent projections show it's not going to be able to pay for itself. only taking gdp up at a projected 0.8% over the next ten years. that's not nearly enough to pay for the bill. on a theoretical bill they just don't believe what we call trickle economics that it does enough to stimulate economic growth and, in fact doesn't address the kun um drum that

wages just aren't rising fast enough. >> so a major selling point for the supporters of the plan is the cut in the corporate tax pepkysico la said they would pump those to their employees. >> this is the whole argument. will companies use it to invest back and invest in job growth and companies and manufacturing. the evidence shows that doesn't happen. what we see is debt paid down share buybacks and more money to line top executives money in terms of more incentives. in fact, what we've seen in the last several decades not just in mark but other countries, boosting the morral of other. this bill if you make under $30,000, you're paying more in taxes. so people who earn the least are going to pay more. the people making the most are going to make a lot less. >> if it passes the way it's expected to, is this really the

victory they're predicting it will be in. >> republicans feel like they need to get this done. they don't have a lot of accomplishments as we know. it is deeply r and it doesn't fit into the dynamic that wes face of populism. people are feeling like they're left out, that their wages aren't increasing fast enough. oom not sure this bill addresses central questions. i think that's a big risk and they think they ready had a misstep. >> so you could win the battle and lose the war. >> exactly.nk you guys. ome of m= ience for silliness. she's celebrateding with a new cbs special and she's telling%hrocco why she's grateful. >> i'm glad age i am now and was the age i was then. but you can't

>> you were mounting a show. >> you know what? i likened it to summer stock that you would put on a show. >> reporter: for her tv show burnette had been a star on broadway. that's where she learned to play for a live audience and about pacing. carol burnett show was about an hour long and took a little more than that to take. >> i never wanted to keep the studio audience waiting. i can't stand that. they give us our energy. i have been a guest on some sitcoms where 21 minutes and they take five hours. that's insane. it's not necessary. >> >>. >> reporter: the cast included harvey corpsman and tim conway. lyle wagner and vikki lawrence who joined the ensemble just out of high school. >> she's nervous because she neff had to come out. she didn't know what to say.
