you feel like your heart sinks down and you keep praying, and hoping. >> another sleepless night in ventura county, california. in the shadow of the flames those hoff not evacuated are taking a stand using garden hose toss fight the fires. wild fires are still burning out of control in southern california forcing more than 150,000 evacuations. i'm kennett craig in ventura with a look at the destruction they have left behind. bullets fly outside of a corner store, two people hurt but authorities say it could have been even worse we are live with the details. it is wednesday december 6th, good morning,

there so that has moved out. schuylkill eastbound near conshohocken we had debris, disabled vehicle that now is completely cleared. we are looking good there. accident in abington fitzwater town road and susquehanna road if this is your neck of the wood it will in the slow you down too much but it is there heading out the day because if this lingers out there it might cause a problem. construction on the walt whitman bridge eastbound two lanes blocked sounds like that is clearing right now and mercon trucks in new jersey we will talk about coming up in the next 10 minutes, jim, back over to you. an early morning shooting leaves within man dead in kensington, "eyewitness news" the scene of the crime in the 700 block of east madison street, police found man lying on the ground with the gunshot wound to his head just before 1:30. in word or motive on the suspect. more gun violence overnight as two men have a shoot-out in fernrock. officers rush to the 5700 block of north camac street just after 12:30.

they found the shooting victim and rush him to the hospital where he is expect to survive. another man shot showed up at the hospital. police think two victims shot each other. philadelphia police are looking for a gunman who opened fire in the corner grocery store injuring two people inside. >> within of the customers was an 11 year-old girl who just miss getting hit. lets get the latest from "eyewitness news" reporter trang do at "eyewitness news" police headquarters, good morning. >> reporter: good morning a 22-year old man was shot in the chest and that bullet went through his back. police rushed him to temple hospital where he underwent surgery overnight. officers continuing to search for this person shot this man while this store was full of other customers as well as employees, but take a look at this video of the scene last night in kensington just after 8:00 p.m. officers responded to a corner grocery store at intersection of the amber and bellmore street. officers arrived to find a 22-year old man with the gunshot wound to the chest, they rushed him to temple

hospital where he is in critical condition. police say gunman fired at lee seven shots from outside the store while victim was standing near the doorway, bullets flew pennsylvania several other customers and employees, and chief inspector scott small says one employee was hurt. >> 22-year old feel mail working behind register was hit and cut in the neck by broken glass from the gunshots being fired. an 11 year-old is clearly scene on the video standing right at the front counter just feet away from the door where the bullets entered the property. >> reporter: that 11 year-old was not hurt. police say they are looking for shooter wearing a dark jack wet white lettering on it , dark pants, white sneakers , they say several surveillance cameras captured this shooting and they are hoping they can review these to find more clues but for new war live outside police headquarters i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". jim and rahel, back to you.

right now to our major story this morning wild fires in southern california show no signs have slowing down, more than 150,000 people in los angeles have been told to evacuate their homes. >> cbs news correspondent kennett craig is live where the largest fire is now raging , good morning, kennett. >> reporter: good morning to you. this is a look at kind of destruction residents here will be waking up to this morning. this home behind me nearly a million-dollar, you can see it completely burn to the ground all that is lefties the cars. >> reporter: three massive fires continue to burnout of control in southern california alongside, smaller won. amid reports hundreds of homes have been destroyed, some residents spent twilight hearst dousing roofs with water hoping that will combat flying embers. at lee 150,000 residents' vac waited. >> all of a sudden i will see from the other side, fire came to our side. so scary.

>> reporter: animals also had to be moved on short notice, k cbs reporter christine laser was at gibson horse ranch in sunland when it was caught off guard by quickly moving flames >> do you need me to grab a horse. >> please. >> a few factors contributed to the fire spreading so quickly biggest of which grew to nearly 80 square miles in just a few hours. there are high wind with gusts over 60 miles per her coupled with extremely dry terrain. area has had nearly no measurable rainfall over pennsylvania six months. with flames come smoke and there is a lot of it hanging in the air throughout l.a. area, creating a health hazard for millions. forecasters say that the high winds that are fanning and spreading the flames are expected to last through thursday and probably into fully. at this point the fire is being considered virtually un stoppable, and just 101 freeway off in the distance

behind me made its way all the way to the pacific ocean, jim and rahel. >> let me ask you we saw folks in your package, store which face masks is what air quality like where you and your crew are reporting? >> reporter: well, we have those masks, as well but it doesn't feel lake we need to wear them at this point. you might be able to tell by the air the smoke is pretty thick. it could be worse. that is in part due to the fact that the fire has already moved through this area and these winds have died down. when you get on the other side where fires are burning you see that thick, heavy smoke and you experience some of that as we were coming into town. changes rapidly around here with the wind speed indeed pending where fires are. >> kennett craig, thank you, be safe, we appreciate your reporting from ventura, california. we are told air quality issues will limit rams practice today as they get ready to play eagles on sunday >> eagles are practicing in anaheim, they are not affected by these wild fires.

there will be much more on these wild fires coming up on cbs this morning. david begnoit t will report at 7:00 right after "eyewitness news" this morning here on cbs-3. two rowers and their coach jumped in the schuylkill to save a would than had whose car plunged in the river. this happened near mlk drive and strawberry mansion bridge. police say the 61 year-old driver back her car in the water around 5:30 last night when a pair of penn athletic club rowers and their coach noticed the submerged car. one jumped in and grabbed the driver while the others helped pull her to safety. >> we are thankful for these row hours heroically went in the water rescued this individual and got them out of the water, got them to safety and provided first aid and did all of the things were you supposed to does a citizen of the city man was rush to the hospital. investigators believe would the man intentionally drove her car in the river. police are looking for a driver who struck a teenager and left her for dead. hit and run happened at 63rd
