passing snow showers, on sunday, i'll tell you just how cold weekend will be as well when i join you inside. back to you. >> we will see new a bit. philadelphia schools were placed on lock down for several incidents involving gun scares. first lock down happen 9:45 at mccall elementary school in society hill. police arrested a student who allegedly brought a loaded gun inside that school. in one was hurt. also, today police responded to a call for shots fired near hard rahm bay charter school in west philadelphia the charter school overbrook high school and rec center in the area were all placed on lock down as a precaution. police have not found any shooting victims. and a student is in custody for prompting a lock down at george washington high school in northeast philadelphia we're told this stemmed from an image of that student holding two guns that circulating on social media. police say the picture was not taken inside the school. discovery of hateful vandalism rocks a philadelphia school community, this all happened at al fitzpatrick

"eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live near that school with what officials and parents are saying tonight, greg. >> reporter: nicole this all began around 9:15 this morning where, staff at this school entering the school they noticed a graffiti and they called philadelphia police department, by 3:15 this afternoon, all students left the school with a note, to their parents. >> dear parent/guardian this letter is continue on form you of an incident that happened at aloysius fitzpatrick school on december 6th, 2017. >> reporter: that incident offensive graffiti found around 9:00 in the morning on the rear door of this northeast philadelphia school, the message, gone, in its place, this handwritten, wet paint sign. >> i heard somebody spray painted on the doors. >> reporter: school district called philadelphia police, northeast detectives are investigating. >> it was determined that there was no threat to students. >> reporter: and domestic was

the school district says it does ant peer that this message was targeting anyone specifically at this school. we are live from the chalfont section of the philadelphia, i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". all right, greg, thank you dire situation continues town fold in southern california, as fire fighters struggled to fight win whipped wild fires. tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate the fires burning through more than 83,000 acres, and counting. weather conditions are making it tough for fire fighters and officials say it is likely to get worse. aerial assault on california wild fire began when it was still dark and will continue all day, as long as the wins don't get too bad. latest fire to erupt is in the city of los angeles. it shut down 405 freeway this morning and already burning homes in bellaire. >> our plan is to try to stop this fire before it becomes something bigger. >> reporter: in some neighborhood people are using garden hoses to hold back the flames. intense battle is exhaust

west really these winds speed up moving around eastern flange, speed up through canyons and valleys here and then those winds can spread fire rapidly. right now again largest fire is north of los angeles, here's what we have, rams practice in thousand oaks. they had to scale back their practice because of the smoke. eagles are practicing in anaheim, south of the main fire which is good news. if things stay as they are the practice likely will not be impact. the problem is that santa ana winds will return, kick up again tonight and tomorrow extreme fire weather danger tomorrow with the strong santa ana winds, expect to back off in the weekend. additional fire ignites that flow, santa ana wind could cause it to spread and could potentially impact practice or , of course, game this weekend in los angeles if there is an inland fire. that is something we will to have watch. as it stands right now likely staying far enough north not to impact practice for the game but we will keep you posted. just a catastrophic situation for much of the southern
