jeff monken, what he's done, talk about closing the gap as far as the weight digs parity in the trenches, he's done that. excellent quarterback in bradshaw, setting all times of records. army is built for the long haul. last year not a one he have off, legitimate contender every year now. >> it's two losses for kenny in a row, he's still 8-2 against army. so i think we have something really to look forward. to we look forward to this game on an annual basis anyway. but to think they are this competitive, we can't wait to watch them tee it up next year. >> adam: and such good friends that monken and niumatalolo are, they were together in hawaii. >> classy move at the end of the game to say good luck to jaren. >> adam: jaren jasper, sending him good wishes. we'll talk to the heisman football final interest when is we continue.

6:35 pm
know how hard it was to go on to a college campus and try to exert whatever i had as talent to earn a spot on that team. you did it as freshman at texas tech and you got the starting job. then you transferred, for an i.m. quarterback, played intermural at oklahoma, now this is the third trip to new york city. what kind of chip is on your shoulder and how big is that dang chip? >> i'd say it's a boulder. something i pride myself on, being motivated. not necessarily a revenge or getting back at people. but there's times when i wasn't big enough, people told me no, i try and make it happen. >> adam: lamar, what's your favorite thing about coming to new york city? >> i'd say the traffic. [laughing] i always say that, i just love the traffic. seeing owl of the -- all of the -- no, no.
6:36 pm
it's like an adventure, people doing things, directioned up in costumes, stuff like that. >> baker, had to break in some new receivers, running backs, how long did it take to meld and start jiving together? >> well, we worked hard in the jofer season. we had a bunch of guys that graduated out of high school, young guys playing. i'd say, in the spring, we did all that, put in a lot of extra time outside of what we had scheduled in the summer to get the chemistry and the timing down. it's showing. >> adam: and showed at the begin flgt year when we got a big win at ohio state. started to make a name for himself as a guy playing with edge. who do you think has the edge on the final ballot tonight? teams like a runaway. >> i don't think there's much doubt who will win. baker mayfield is clearly, the winner in this field. unbelievable talent. bryce love second. i thought his yards per carry were off the yarts. how many 50 yard runs can you
6:37 pm
have. and lamar jackson, we saw the stupendous, if anything we'd seen it, already has the trophy, we's going to be a remarkable player. >> brian: i'm taking lamar off my ballot, who likes traffic? are you kidding me? baker mayfield, bryce love, then lamar pulling up the, you know, pulling up third place right there. who likes new york traffic? >> adam: a novelty for him. maybe he had a police escort. >> brian: definitely helps. but they had phenomenal years. for lamar to back up what he was able to produce a season ago and come back and average more yards per game than he did, that's a phenomenal and testament to his work. baker mayfield, 71% completion percentage, outstanding season. >> adam: really cool that lamar and bryce love told rick they're going to play in their bowl games and figure out what they might do for the future. army and navy, also going bowling, the black knights are headed to back-to-back bowls for the first time since 1985. and will face san diego state

december 23 in the armed forces bowl. navy has a december 28 date, with virginia in the military bowl. and, look, army used to not be in bowl games when they had winning records, they have bigger things on worry about, that comes after they play arnie my navy. always the most important game. >> brian: you go up against penny, that's going to be a chore for the defense to handle. as far as virginia, you tip your hat to bronco mendenhall, has them in the bowl game for the first time m a long time. >> they will have great experiences but this was their game. this was their opportunity to flex, like they looked forward to flexing. i think we speak for everybody that gets to watch this game, what a treat it is. to see these guys put on it the field. we know they're putting it on. >> brian: a great way to end the regular football season. >> adam: home of the tenth mountain division wearing the whites. that will do it for us. thank you for watching the college football post football

watching the black knights beat the midshipmen in snowy south philadelphia. snow fell all around the region today including all over south jersey. this is the view from our cape may camera this afternoon, a steady snowfall did not accumulate heavily around on roads earlier today but it was enough to make it quite the story today. in ardmore it's beginning to look a lot like christmas. snow fell steadily as shoppers bundled up, cars and grass grew white. a look at storm scan3 shows that's where the storm is hovering at this point still hugging the atlantic coast right now. you can see the band of snow as it's moving north but how long will it last? good evening, everyone, i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us tonight. snow has been falling in some parts of our area since friday afternoon. we are tracking the storm as it moves throughout the region and "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves is live in haddonfield new jersey but we'll begin with meteorologist lauren casey live on the cbs3 sky deck with a look at what
6:43 pm
we can expect. you can see the snow still falling around you. >> it is a beautiful scene on the sky deck. i'd say we have over 3-inches of snowfall accumulation here at cbs3 studios. the snow is coming down big flakes continuing to fall and we'll see the snow continuing over the next couple of hours. it's going to stay steady in nature. still have a winter weather advisory in effect for a large portion of the area. that will expire overnight tonight but snowfall totals from earlier in the day, delmar far southern delaware 8-inches and that total from a few hours ago, reading close to five and a half inches ridley park 4-inches, vern fielding on the montgomery county 3-inches and philadelphia earlier this afternoon 1.3. we certainly have more than that. but we still have this winter weather advisory in that effect for much of the area. winter storm warning in effect for cape may county expiring at 1:00 a.m. we'll talk more about when the snow will taper off how much
6:44 pm
more accumulation we could see and talking about a bitter blast. this is not the coldest of the air and all that's coming up in your full "eyewitness news" forecast in a few lauren we'll see you inside. thank you so much. live team coverage and continues with alycia nieves live in haddonfield new jersey. >> reporter: natasha about five minutes ago we had a band of snow that came through and there was very visible snow coming down at probably medium to moderate rate. now, just kind of light snow. in different areas we've been to the snow has been enough that it reminded people this is that time of year but not enough that if you had any plans today that it ruined those plans. it's the first snowfall of the season and a blanket of white has coated all areas of our region from ocean city and vineland new jersey to swarthmore paa and center city philadelphia. >> i'm super excited. like one to 1,050,000.
6:45 pm
it gets you in the holiday spirit. >> reporter: it seemed hundreds of people outside city hall in philadelphia agreed packing the outdoor ice rink all day today. >> i believe it actually helped business because it kind of adds the effect to the winter wonderland kind of thing. >> reporter: but while the fall flakes are a reminder that that time of year is here other its weren't looking for the reminder so soon. >> not really but you got to take what you is get, right. >> reporter: right. now whether you are a fan or not, just remember it's been awhile since it last snowed and driving in this can be dangerous so take it slow on the road and be careful. >> it's kind of slick out there right now. the snow isn't sticking but it's about, you know, getting ready to pile up, so it's not going to be very good for the cars. >> reporter: and that last reminder really important. it's a big reason why we stand out here in the cold reminding people that when it's snowing
6:46 pm
like this road conditions can be really dangerous but even after the snow stops you have to worry about black ice, sludge on the road. about a quarter to half inch of sludge on the road can easily move a 2-ton vehicle. be careful be safe if you're coming out in these conditions. live in haddonfield, new jersey, alycia nieves cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> thank you so much, alicia. we'll continue to follow the storm as the flakes continue to fall throughout the region. remember when we're not on television you can always get the latest information including closures and conditions as it relates to the weather on our web site cbsphilly.com. now the snow made the game even more special today as you just saw live right here on cbs3, army and navy faced off in philadelphia. it was the 118th meeting. >> go army. beat navy. >> go navy. >> go army, beat navy. we're definitely favoritism -- we definitely show favoritism

towards army. >> go navy. to be able to match up on this field especially in philadelphia i think it's where the game belongs and it's just a great matchup. >> tailgating fans talked a little bit of trash before the game at lincoln financial field. they also had a lot of fun as well. the game certainly did live up to the hype. now the linc looked like the frozen tundra though with all the snow covering the field today and the fans were treated to a very entertaining game. let's bring in lesley van arsdale with the highlights. >> last year the black knights snapped a 14 game losing streak to the midshipmen. today they looked to make it two in a row. second quarter army up by four navy with the ball quarterback malcolm perry calling his own number goes right then changes directions finds the crease in the army defense and he's gone 68 yards to a very snowy house and the midshipmen take the lead. in the fourth quarter army qb ahmed bradshaw with the keeper fighting his way into the end zone and black knights regain the lead. we have three seconds left. navy needs a 48-yard field

mistakes and you know as well as i do that they got away with a sloppy performance against the bears. and they still won decidedly and they did not play their best against the dallas cowboys and they still dominated. so they know that they cannot make the sake mistakes and plus i don't think carson wentz is playing against jared goff. that's the big billboard. number one against number two. both on the field at the same time together but he is a highly competitive guy with so much pride. if there is an extra gear i think we're going to see it. >> keys to the game is what. >> key to the game is get off to a good start. it's not going to be the same atmosphere you had in seattle. in fact you're going to have a lot of eagles fans at this game but get off to a good start and run the ball. the rams with all they've done right are still 27th in the nfl against the run and i think the eagles can pummel them get it going and then hit the wide receivers.
6:50 pm
defensively you've got to get to goff. they have a great running back in todd girly but if you get to goff you get to him first then you're going to change everything because i think they can -- i think they can make him think a lot make him hesitate. >> the keys to the game from merrill reese. now, he did mention that we expect a huge contingent of eagles fans at this game tomorrow. in fact, we expect it to be mostly an eagles crowd. they're all over this beach representing all throughout l.a. i'm even rocking my trust the process t-shirt. we've got markelle, we've got jo-jo, dario and ben, it's all philly here in l.a. and we'll have that story for you at 11:00. that is the story here from santa monica beach. i'm don bell for cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> love the shirt, done. thanks so much. not too jealous. >> can you believe this guy. >> seriously. >> he's got the waves behind him. >> of course the fans are

>> lauren it's been hours. i see the snow is still sticking around. >> it continues to fall at this hour. reduced visibility as we get a live look at center city philadelphia. we're at 30 degrees. northwesterly wind up to 9 miles an hour feeling like 22 degrees. winter is here and storm scan3 showing us we're still packed in with that snowfall. seeing a little bit of break across portions of south jersey but where you see these purple returns that is heavier snow banding from center city philadelphia down into the airport, upper chichester down
6:55 pm
into wilmington as well. also where we have that that winter storm warning that remains in effect for only cape may county, seeing some heavier banding from sea isle city to cape may down into the delaware beaches and checking in live on our neighborhood network you can see that snow coming down. the boards covered with snowfall right now, a pretty neat scene with those big flakes because the temperatures are so near the freezing mark and for tonight, steady evening snow for the next several hours. really starting to taper off by midnight. see additional accumulation of one to two, maybe 3-inches and then the concern turns to refreezing as we head throughout the overnight period as temperatures will be dropping back into the 20's but future weather going to show us the next couple of hours into the 8, 9 o'clock hour, steady snow but then around 10 o'clock especially i-95 corridor points west, that snow really starting to taper off and then midnight for everyone. as we head throughout the overnight period we'll see decreasing clouds but that will allow temperatures to drop down even cooler so again that concern for refreezing and slippery roads as we head throughout our sunday though
6:56 pm
nothing but sunshine but it is going to be another chilly day and chilliness is going to be the trend as we head into the next week. temperatures right now we're at 30 in allentown, 29 degrees in reading, 31 in atlantic city. so, all these numbers supportive of snow. not seeing a lot of mixing. not expecting a lot of mixing as we head into the next couple hours. there are your wind chill temperatures, feeling like teens in the poconos and also feeling like teens in millville, so overnight tonight, that snow tapering off region wide by midnight then decreasing clouds down to 28 degrees as we head into our sunday, mostly sunny cold and brisk with a westerly wind around 10 to 15. 40 degrees the high temperature but of course those wind chills will be in the 30's all day long as we head into our monday, 43 degrees, mostly sunny skies. rain snow shower possible on tuesday. that's our warmest day before the coldest air of the season arrives into wednesday with highs
