recovery period for at least nine months. dr. smith is not treating wentz but he says the lengthy recuperation is why torn acls are so dreaded in sports. >> when the lig meant tears it blows apart. you reconstruct the entire ligament. >> dr. smith says acl surgery is usually done two to four weeks after the injury. he says it may not be painful right now but it will be immediately after the operation. >> there is no doubt about it, wentz's injury is a tough blow for eagles' fans. >> it's clearly a setback, but all is not lost. and i think the eagles still have a very, very good chance of going all the way. >> it's going to be rough for the eagles. but you've got to look at it this way. when michael vick went down, nick foles won like eight games and there's still hope. >> after wentz went down,

snow from saturday and we do have several more chances as we head into the coming days. storm scan 3 showing us a couple of flakes right now. we will be mainly quiet throughout the overnight period but tomorrow an arctic cold front is going to drop in and allow that cold polar air to spill in. we'll see a mix of rain and snow tomorrow or mainly rain during the morning and early afternoon hours and then the potential for an evening snow shower passing through as temperatures take a tumble. that blast of arctic air becomes entrenched on wednesday sticks around on thursday and into friday. we'll see a chance of snow showers once again on thursday and again on friday with two fast-moving disturbances. that will give us a chance of snow. so we'll talk about if we're expecting any accumulation and when to expect those wind chills in the single digits coming up in just a few. >> police say a man is dead after being shot multiple times in inside a car in east mount

airy. eyewitnesss say this is a drive-by shooting but police do not have a good description of the vehicle. >> hundreds of people have voiced their outrage over the living conditions of three dogs. the dogs have disappeared. alexandria hoff was in juniata park tonight with the mystery surrounding those dogs. alex? >> reporter: it is unclear where those dogs are tonight, but according to an anonymous source that is not law enforcement-affiliated. it appears to be a case of vigilante justice and the pspca is investigating. an emotional debate has been unfolding. >> my dogs don't like it inside. >> reporter: it surrounds the living condition of three dogs and several rabbits. >> we feel bad for them.

>> reporter: residents who protested friday say that the pups lived entirely outside in a small enclosed porch. this video was shot saturday but the situation caught alyssa howard's attention in the summer of 2016. >> i drove by and saw dogs panting and when i finally pulled over and stopped, they were literally drinking their own pee trying to survive. >> reporter: since then she and others have been checking in on the animals weekly bringing food and water. >> even the bunnies. people would try to help the bunnies and he would never answer the door. never come to the spca. >> reporter: recently installed fencing prevented us from making contact with the property owner and when we arrived just one rabbit was present, no dogs in sight. we were informed by the pspca that early monday morning the dogs were reported, quote, stolen and that they will

continue to investigate the situation. >> it's my dogs. >> reporter: this case is a complicated one because under pennsylvania's recently enacted law, it works to prevent owners from keeping their animals out in extreme heat or cold but much of that pertains to leashed animals. they were not on leashes, they were just confined to a space, a cement porch about as big as this parking space here. the pspca will be investigating. alexandria hoff, cbs3 eyewitness news. >> authorities are trying to piece together what led an immigrant from bangladesh to carry out an attempted terrorist attack this morning in new york city. the explosion sparked chaos during rush hour. >> this grainy transit surveillance video shows the moment the bomb went off inside a subway walkway connecting port

authorized to times square. >> people were running all over the place. at that point i was really scared. >> police say the low-tech bomb was strapped to an immigrant from bangladesh. he made the device himself and was inspired by isis to carry out the attack. >> this was an attempted terrorist attack. thank god the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals. >> port authority police officers grabbed him and successfully removed the explosives. at least five others sustained minor injuries. as part of their investigation, authorities are combing footage from thousands of security cameras to trace the suspect's footsteps in the moments leading up to the attack. earlier in the day police swarmed the apartment building where he lived. members of new york's bangladeshi community came together to denounce his actions. >> this doesn't represent us. this is solely by him.

his own action, he is responsible for it. >> reporter: he came to the u.s. on a visa seven years ago. investigators are looking into how he made the bomb and who else might have known about his plans. tonight his family released a statement saying they're heartbroken by the attack and outraged by law enforcement officials. philadelphia police are reminding people to speak up if they see anything out of the ordinary. >> when the hash on the back of your neck stands up or when you look at something twice and go that doesn't look right, we want to know. >> the see something, say something reminder came in response to that explosion in new york just 20 minutes after that incident philadelphia law enforcement mapped out their response in case something similar happened here. police presence was increased in center city and at travel hubs. some people we spoke with today said they see the new york attack as an isolated incident and do not believe americans need to live in fear.

>> we now know more about a group of philadelphia nuns who were critically injured in a car crash. the crash happened last night in delaware county. police say a man veered over the center double line and collided with a car containing the four nuns. it's not clear yet what caused the accident. investigators say everyone involved in the crash is in critical condition. >> delaware county district attorney's office crash investigation team was notified, responded to the scene to assist in the investigation due to the severity of the injuries. >> the nuns are from the convent in northeast philadelphia. people at the church tell us they were headed back from a christmas festival at longwood gardens. mario batali is apologizing. he's the latest high profile figure facing sexual misconduct allegations. what he's acased of doing and what it means for his restaurant empire. >> plus the future of the old

. the largest of five active wildfires in southern california continues to spread tonight. the thomas fire started eight days ago. it has now burned more than 230,000 acres. that's larger than all of new york city. firefighters are trying to keep the fire from threatening residents in santa barbara as the flames move to the north. this is the fifth largest wildfire in california's history. transgender men and women will be allowed to, able to enlist in the military at the start of the new year. this is nounsment comes despite president trump's order to ban transgender servicemembers. two federal judges have already ruled against the ban. a judge ruled today that they will be allowed to enlist. the department of justice is appealing this ruling. >> several women who have publicly accused president trump of sexual misconduct in the past are speaking out once again. three women faced cameras in new york to talk about their

encounters with donald trump. they say they were victimized long before he became present. they are calling on congress to investigate the president's behavior. >> mr. trump repeatedly kissed my cheeks and ultimately my lips in an encounter that impacted my life. >> when he put his hand up my skirt i started to wrestle out of my seat. >> the white house released a statement saying the women's claims were addressed during the campaign but the accusers say it's time to see the president held accountable. celebrity chef mario batali is the latest high profile person facing sexual misconduct allegations. batali did not address the individual accounts but apologized and said the stories match up with his past behavior. he's stepping back from his restaurants and on leave from his television show on abc. alabamans will decide tomorrow whether to elect

republican roy moore to the u.s. senate. his opponent would become the state's first democrat senator in 25 years. the candidates are making a final push tonight for that seat vacated by attorney general jeff sessions. several women have accused moore of pursuing a relationship with him. >> the mansion called nick's house was dedicated tonight. it's run by the headstrong foundation. the home will serve as temporary lodging for patients who travel to the philadelphia area for treatment. the organization's president lost her son to cancer when he was 19. >> we've become a strong part of the support system because they've left everything they know to save their child or their loved one. >> nick's house will host seven patients at a time along with their caregivers.

the organization says it will likely save thousands of dollars for each patient it takes in. does the former revel casino in atlantic city have a new owner again? a colorado company is buying the casino for $200 million. the resort will reopen in may under the open of ac ocean walk llc. lauren casey joins us now as we're looking at a rather wintry forecast. >> wintry week ahead. yes, december, old man winter is like i've been gone long enough. he wants some face time. he is going to get it this week. temperatures are chilly today. we came in below average and it's certainly starting to feel a lot like christmas. our winter countdown is on, hanukkah begins tomorrow evening. winter officially begins in just

10 days. not even into the official start of winter yet. two weeks until christmas got to get those cards made out and new year's day, 21 days away until 2018. i'm getting a live look at center city philadelphia all is quiet right now. 36 degrees our current temperature, winds out southeast around 7, feeling more like 30 degrees. high temperatures struggled a bit. our normal high temperature 46 didn't start off too bad. 34 degrees our low temperature this morning. we're already close to that. 36 in philly, 27 degrees in mount pocono, 31 in atlantic city. temperatures will cool a little bit more over the next couple of hours and we'll actually start to warm temperatures up a bit. so 33 degrees, that will likely occur right around midnight, 1:00 a.m. and we'll see that gradual and slow warming mostly cloudy with a sprinkle or flurry possible. 46 degrees our high temperature tomorrow but that will be deceiving. that will occur early in the day

along with light rain showers as we head into the afternoon that arctic cold front drops in, winds pick up and temperatures are going to take a tumble. storm scan 3 showing us we do have an area of pressure off to our north and west helping to generate snow showers across the great lakes and new york state. a couple of flurries and flakes coming down potentially in the lehigh valley. quiet elsewhere. future weather showing us as we head throughout the overnight period pretty quiet but for our commute we could see light rain showers around philadelphia and immediate suburbs and up into the lehigh valley. could see potentially a little brief mix towards berks county into our morning hours. all snow showers for mount pocono. this model might be a little bit aggressive. this precipitation is not going to be intense or constant but we will see passing rain showers on and off throughout the day and then as that cold air blasts in,

if we still do have moisture left over, we could see a brief period of snow showers as we head into the early evening about 5:00, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 before we start to clear things out. so as we wake up tomorrow morning 7:00 a.m. heading out a few light rain showers, 42 degrees, maybe a shower around by lunchtime, falling temperatures, breezy conditions picking up, 44 degrees and temperatures really falling back as we head into the second half of the day. by 5:00, 38 degrees. windy conditions with that chance of a possible snow shower. so conditions really going to be going downhill tomorrow and really downhill as we head into wednesday. 22 degrees our low temperature but with strong gusty winds, wind chills will be in the single digits. our high temperatures only at 31 degrees despite that sunshine as we head into thursday our high temperature only at 34 with a chance of snow showers and another chance of snow as we head into friday. looks like we could see
