>> good morning, a warm up. >> i like it already feeling warmer this morning. >> yes, by almost 10 degrees leer in philly, even, maybe close to 15 degrees warm nerve areas of north because it was so cold yesterday morning, we had the temperatures in the 20 's, and the teens. it really was a comfortable sat saturday morning, then add in the little breeze we had through yesterday afternoon, windchill values were definitely not what you want to be standing outside in, windchill values in the 20's pretty much all day yesterday. not going to be a problem for us today, as we get up into the 40's, and that win much, much calmer today, than what what what we had saturday as well. storm scan3, for the most part , not too much going on. some clouds starting to work their way in little bit upper level moisture out there. we will see increase in cloud cover throughout the daytime hours. but, temperatures, are again, still warmer now than what they were 24 hours ago. philly, now just right above the freezing mark at 33 degrees, if you're down the shore areas like atlantic city

hospital gunfire broke out 2700 block of north 11 street, just after 11:00 last night. victims in stable condition. police now trying to figure out what lead to this shooting well, no word yet on how an overnight house fire started in west philadelphia. mr. say fire broke out around midnight. fire crews there were able to get those flames under control , just before 12:30, and now everyone made it out of the house safely. and no one was reportedly hurt red cross has been called in to help. >> a church in camden, preaching forgiveness today, even after someone steels hundreds of dollars from a church fundraiser. that money, was going to help feed people in need. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan, shows us, the video, police now hope will help track down the suspect. >> the season of giving at

hand at sacred heart parish, but two sundays ago, this man helped themselves. he allegedly stole about $1,200 from a fundraiser, where parishioners buy and sell homemade goods in the church basement. it it is very very joyous occasion, people eating, drinking, buying, having a good time. >> camden police release this video of the man they say stole from the church in hopes that you can help identify him >> the good part nobody was attacked or hurt. >> farther doyle at the church more than 30 years, doing a mass to bless expectant mothers, he said the money from the funt raids we are have helped next week when they give out a thousand food baskets to families in south camden. he says the loss won't stop their effort and if they need more more money, god will use his people to provide. >> my grandfather, he said it is a terrible day thanks be to good. >> and that's how you feel?

>> there is no word yet on what caused this ski lift accident at mountain about 80 miles northwest of harrisburg, malfunction injured five skiers there, and stranded dozens of other high above the slopes. ski resort officials say one chair slipped backward, and into the chair hine it, causing a domino effect. emergency responders used ropes to rescue about 50 people. some were left dangling for more than an hour. >> the search continues today for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run acci i-95 off ramp. this crash happened in the southbound lanes at highland avenue in chester, right around 3:00 saturday morning, police say the car struck and killed 46 year old ronald williams, and then kept ongoing. investigators say, williams was hit after getting out of his car, for an unknown reason now, the striking vehicle, is believed to be a black new err model volkswagon, police say it should have damage to the front end, and to the windshield.

>> lawyers accusing robert mueller of wrong-doing, have written letter to congress, in it, they say, mueller gained unauthorized access to thousands of transition emails the lawyers say the emails are the property of the transition team, and mueller should not have obtained the emails, without their approval. now, mueller of course is investigating possible collusion with russia, meantime, white house lawyer is denying speculation that president trump is thinking every firing mueller. press president trump says he does expect that republican tax bill to be on his desk to sign before christmas. the massive 500 page document needs the vote of both the house and senate before it can go into effect next year. laura breaks down. >> it has big step to go.

can't take that step. >> it lowers tax rates for most americans, through 2025. and nearly doubles the standard deductions for individuals, and married couples. state and local taxes can still be written off. but are now capped at $10,000. the bill delivers on another promise, penalty tax. but democratic senator claire mc cast ill says it could hurt the african raj american household. >> it is unfair, how tilted it is toward the really wealthy people in this country. >> the bill permanently slashes the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%. mr. trump hopes that will bring cash, companies are keeping off shore, back to the u.s. >> if you look at the whole thing, everyone will benefit. but i think the greatest benefit for jobs and middle class. >> nearly every qong gwen until republican expected to vote in favor of the tax cut. and they're hopingri and missis,

history. the thomas fire, northwest of los angeles, has burned 418 square miles since it started almost two weeks ago. has kill eirefighterstroyed mord homes. are still battling those flames. meantime the newest high tech war ship has been brought to life after historic ceremony. take a look. >> the us little rock commissioned yesterday, in buffalo, new time in the navy's 242-year history that a war ship was conducted. alongside its name sake ship. the original uss little rock was commissioned just before the end of worlds war two, and the new ship is set to deploy next year. look at all of that snow and ice out there, matt, cool in buffalo, coal here today, too. >> still not as cold as yesterday morning, we are trending upwards with our temperatures, over nice, we

can talk about warmer air slowly moving into the region, especially whether it has been so coal. this is a look, down spring garden street, on our sunday morning. few clouds out there, but overall actually seeing sunshine early this morning as you take a look again down spring garden street in philly it will be nice morning. but then we will see the clouds build as we go through the afternoon. temperatures today, warmer. that's the trade off. don't get as much sunshine, but get some warmer temperatures, so if you aplanni, waking up this morning, maybe already having the coffee, temperatures are in the 30's, right now, so little cool. if you do head out take your jacket, hats, gloves, with you , but again, for the most part, not too bad here this morning. that brunn. time frame, maybe next hour or so, will be up shy of 40 degrees. still looking for those partly to mostly cloudy brunch

time frame, out and about, ringer around, maybe doing christmas shopping, 42 degrees , mostly cloudy, and it will be dry, then as we get through the dinnertime time frame, still going with some generally cloudy skies, 37 degrees, for the temperature tours then starting to fall off getting later in the evening then toward the overnight as well. storm scan3, for the most part right now, shows that upper level moisture, shows the cloud cover trying to work its way in here but doesn't move in until a warmfront comes through, as oath aided with precipitation out to the midwest here, south of omaha, where the low itself s the front, warmfront anyway, tends to the east, will affect us, all of the precipitation along the cold front draped down to the south, that stays well to the south not affecting us too much. future weather, 7:00, we see precipitation starting to work its way in, snow flurries, maybe light windy mix areas through the lehigh valley. maybe even little bit in some of the northern suburbs, as well. as we head toward the midnight

go over amanda mueller the cbs-3 traffic center. hi, amanda. >> hi, jan. looking at 76 eastbound, at gulph mills, checking on your major ores here looking all right. earlier accident we mentioned on 95, at columbus avenue, that w bit of back up, now clear, and traffic patterns are getting back to normal in that spot. seventy-six looking okay, the vine, 202, and turnpike, as women. just keep eye out for slick spots left over from the weather over the last couple of days. we do have accident at packer avenue, so 95, not quite clear yet. right lane block, back up, be aware if you are coming around the corner. >> finally, in new jersey, we have some construction in bellmawr, on 76 eastbound between exit 1b and 1a, 42, 295, right lane block there until 8:00 this evening, i'm amanda mueller, back to you. >> amanda, thank you. 8:00 is the. eagles quarterback carson wentz is recovering this

morning, and he underwent surgery on wednesday, to repair his torn acl. but, he does have a long road of recovery ahead of him. health reporter stephanie stahl shows us what goes iit a r a torn acl.>> interior crucial, stabilizes the knee. >> basically allow the knee to pivot. knee joint normally hinges back and forth, as you bend and extend the knee. acl helps to protect it. >> sports medicine specialist at main line health, not involved with carson wentz, reacted like most fans, when he heard the star quarterback has a torn acl. >> my heart sang inside. >> he said they're dread in the sports because the recovery takes a long time. >> when the ligament tears it blows apart basically. you can't just put it back together. you reconstruct the entire ligament using part of the patient's own tendon from elsewhere. >> during relatively quick and routine surgery the new

ligament graft is attached to the upper and lower leg bones, recovery usually takes at least nine months. >> and you have to both wait for to get the motion and strength back in the knee, also time for what's called maturity, allow for the graft to set in place. >> and the other thing, eagles fans are wondering about, how was wentz able to keep playing briefly, after the injury? >> football players are thought to be very tough. they're no stranger to pain. so i'm sure that he didn't think that much of it. tried, you know, i'm sure he inch sills dollars playing through it, and then tried to. andhat he was either having persistent pain or some instability of the knee, that's probably what prompted them to pull him out. >> stephanie stahl, cbs-3, " eyewitness news". >> still ahead: hundreds of passengers back on dry lands today, after ordeal on the high sea.

news" this morning. >> good morning, everyone, i'm jan carabeo. let's get a check on the forecast now, here's meteorologist, matt peterson out on the cbs-3 skydeck with eyewitness weather. good morning, matt. >> good morning, jan, it is a cool start to the day out here on the skydeck. and across the philadelphia area. but not nearly as cold as it was 24 hours ago. we are headed maybe even 15 degrees warmer in a few spot here this morning. compared to where we were yesterday. but that doesn't mean that it is going to be necessarily a afternoon just more seasonable. headlines for the sunday, a break from the snow, every course we didn't have any snow showers yesterday. but it really seem like every cof we've been in dose of that flurry activity, not going to happen today. it will get a break from the snow like i say. quiet streak of days all the way through looks like for the most part this entire week. then we also have a temperature change coming with the warmer temperatures on the way for the middle of our week where we could see some highs

that may be getting to up maybe even close to 60 degrees , at times. for the most part in the morning, here, we are looking at temperatures that are in the 30's, we will be topping it out around 4 degrees later this afternoon, then jan, talking about how warm we can get, when all of the heat comes in just a little bit. >> sounds good, thank you, matt. 8:31 now. and so far, there have been no arrests after shooting at point breeze avenue in morris street in south philadelphia. police say a man was shot in the face there, just after 1:00 this morning. he is now in critical condition. no word yet on what caused this shooting. >> church in camden is keeping the fate today after someone stole $1,200 from a bake sale, police believe the man seen in this video stole that cash, from a fundraiser at sacred heart parish two weeks ago. the money would have helped pay for 1,000 food baskets, that the church is giving to local families this week. >> one church member said she compelled to for give the heat
