>> this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. >> both look. both firing. and it is good. agholor touchdown. >> well the eagles score another victory, one impacts the post-season, so why is the coach so un happy this morning >> and it is lights on again at hearts fields jackson international. what created long lines for passengers at the world's busiest airport and also disrupted air traffic all across the country. >> and, it is a good thing this didn't happen during the revolution. george washington washington, and his army may have had trouble crossing the delaware this year. why history may not repeat itself. well today is monday december, i'm wearing the suit, it is a good morning here, folks, i'm jim donovan.

left over, and then we will see temperatures really on the rise, as we go through the middle of the weekment storm scan3, for the most part right now, not too much going on. we are watching a few light returns there. just out to lancaster, moving into chester county, this is warmfront slowly lifting through the region, so for the most part, it is, again, warm enough that all of this is falling as rain, if it is reaping the grounds, at all, but if it cools down just little bit, could you maybe see few snowflakes mixing, but not too much going on. another system to the north will stay well out of the area , seeing right now temperatures in the 30's for philly, 40's down the, and right around 30 degrees for the poconos as well. so definitely above average. here is the forecast for the rest of the day across the region, 49 for the high here in philly, ooh down the shore, 40 for the poconos, then jim, rahel, like i said, could be seeing temperatures near 06 degrees tomorrow. i'll give you details on that in just a little bit. >> matt, see you soon, thank you. looking outside i95 near cottman avenue. as we can see, traffic is still light and moving smoothly.

let's turn to some serious news this morning, new this morning, man recovering after he is stabbed inside after home in west philadelphia. this response to north frazier street just few hours ago, there they found a man suffering a stab wound to the back, taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition. police believe there was a domestic situation. also, new this morning, we are working to get more information about this accident involving a newspaper truck in bucks county. "eyewitness news" at the scene overnight on bristol pike in croyden, now, police say, despite how bad this looks, no one was seriously hurt. >> well the search is on for a gunman who shot a man during attempted robbery in northeast philadelphia. police say the victim ran inside this wawa, in the castor section of the city, after he was shot last night. victim told police he was walking in the 6900 block of large street, when a suspect approached and announce add robbery. the vick tell was shot twice while running away. he is in stable condition. in other news, the lights are finally back on at one of the worlds' busiest airports, an outage atlanta's international airport lasted for several hours and

disrupted travel during one of the busiest travel times of the year. the week before christmas. cbs news correspondent roxanna has more on what's next with thousands of stranded travelers. report full power has been restored to the world's busiest airport, more than ten hours after a power outage early sunday afternoon, brought heart field jacon atlanta international airport to a stand still. >> well, the light came on, that was exciting. >> georgia power officials say fire in a underground electrical facility knocked the power out. they believe it was spark by a switch gear that failed. grounding more than 1,000 flights in atlanta. >> that fire caused multiple faults on our system, and those faults affected the multiple power sources that we have for the airport. >> officials say the location and intensity of the fire cut off both primary and back up power. while travelers inside the terminals were left in limbo, passengers on planes were stuck on the runways, some for several hours.

>> we left san diego at 4:00 a.m., we sat on the tarmac for six hours, i have my five month old with me. >> some industry experts predict with few open seats on other flights, the week before christmas, it could take a few days before travel returns to normal in atlanta. roxanna, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> atlanta's delta biggest hub , delta says customers flying to or from or through atlanta through tomorrow can make a one-time change to their travel plans for free. meantime, here's how the pour outage is affecting travel out of philadelphia. shows handful of early morning flight are canceled, and make sure to check the status of your flight today if you are flying. >> back here at home, pennsylvania governor tom wolf wants democratic state senator to step down over allegations of sexual misconduct. the philadelphia inquirer published an article quoting former campaign and legislative staffers and advisors, and they accuse 56 year old jaylen leach of behavior reaching from highly sexualized jokes to inapropriate touching. blames the accusations on an

un name political opponent and denies the allegations. >> and carolina panthers owner jerry richardson is stepping down amid allegations of sexual and racist misconduct. last night the team tweet that richardson is selling the team at the end of the season. the nfl is investigating the accusations that have been made against richardson. he has owned the panthers since the team was created in 1993. >> christmas tradition stumped by weather t looks like washington's crossing might not happen this year. on christmas day in 1776 george washington led several boats across an icy delaware river, from yardley into trenton. well, actors now recreate this scene every year, but this year low water levels in the delaware could make the trip impossible. other re-enactments like washington christmas speech to his troops, how much, will still take place. >> well, it is a very special day here at cbs-3. looks pretty quiet right now in our parking lot but we hope

stem foreign intervention and elections there is comes in the wake every russia meddling , in the 2016 elections. well, close to 8,000 firefighters are battling the thomas fire, now burning for over two weeks in southern california, strong winds, fueled the flames over the weekends, as officials evacuated thousands of people from their homes. crews rushed to fight the fire , now threatening close to 18,000 homes. this is now the thirds largest fire in california history. >> incredible that we are still talking about those fires, weeks after they began. >> all right, time now, 5:16. and, matt, we are talking about some milder weather, which i'm all the way here for , all the way. >> all in on that. >> yes. >> all in. it is, it is definitely going to feel very mild. if you are a fan of maybe a winter thawing, even though winter didn't officially start yet, starts thursday, but if you were make sick of the ol temperatures we had last week, we were dealing with the snow, like it felt like every other day, that pattern has since moved out. dealing with one that's a

little bit more mild, little more comfortable for us for the next seven days at least. outside right now, it is a quiet start to the day. this is our neighborhood network. this is the palmyra cove nature park, over in jersey. taking a look toward center city. now, there is some cloud cover out there. so you can't quite see the skyline, but it is going to clear, at least at times later this afternoon, we will see some sunshine break through the clouds cover. it is just going to come maybe after about lunchtime or so. storm scan3, for us, this morning, shows, again, little bit of cloud cover out there. and then we have an area of war, that's slowly lifting through the region here to start out our monday. so that's firing off couple of maybe light rain showers here, there. now, not all of this is reaching the ground, not all of the precipitation, again, reaching the ground. and it is warm enough at this point that it almost likely is rain, you see couple of returns in there, just north of wilmington, part of chester county. it is still warm eug though, that i don't think precipitation, seend of temperatures in the mid to lie

30's, so we're again well up above the freezing range. now, for the next cup old of days, we could get slight cool -down as we get into wednesday, after very warm tuesday for us. but then, check this out, we get into the second half of our work week, we start to see this trough dip down into western us. what t is we will start to see ridge of high pressure build, off to the south, and then that will give us an influx very warm air for, again, the middle and then ends of the week. jim, rahel, so we will be talking about that. and i'll talk a little bit maybe about whether we could see the next chance for some precipitation coming up in just a bit. >> thank you, matt. meisha has the day off. at this point.are of traffic that is new accident on the westbound vine st. expressway off ramp to the ben franklin parkway. the right lane is blocked. be aware of that. meanwhile, crews are still working to clear an accident on the westbound pennsylvania turnpike. this is just before willow grove. the right lane is blocked, also, there is construction on the eastbound pa turnpike between willow grove and bensalem.

learn more about the disease and more than 5 million americans battling it. >> eighty year old fred walker is doing his part to help altzheimer's research. each time he plays the video game, it tracks hisnavigational. and sends the data to scientists. fred knows how valuable dementia data can be. >> this is -- >> his wife, joan, died of altzheimer's in 2010. he watched as the disease slowly took her. >> she was so frail and helpless and totally dependent , you know, the woman who raised my kids, made a home, she was gone. >> very little data or testing exists that can detect the early onset of altzheimer's. getting lost is one offirst sig. so, researchers are hoping this can provide a baseline for how people navigate, and eventually, help doctors identify who is most at-risk. >> the possibilities are very exciting.
