barclay friend. good evening, i'm ukee washington. i'm natasha brown in for jessica dean. family's attorney says blaze could have been prevented. >> "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is in our satellite center. quite an emotional day for this family. >> reporter: teresa malloy's children say she was fiercely independent and reluctant to move out of her apartment but she agreed to move in the barclay friends senior living community just weeks before it went up in flames. the family's attorney says the sprinkler system could have stopped this tragedy but that system did not work. on october 21st, 8 five-year old teresa malloy moved in the barclay friends senior living complex in west chester. twenty-six days later she was dead. one of four senior citizens killed when a five alarm fire ripped through the building. >> the panic she must have felt in the middle of the night. >> reporter: marry malloy, his ser daughter she and her

brother spoke about their mother, first time wednesday. >> she had a remarkable religious faith. >> she was very big on character. working class. >> reporter: they retained robert mongeluzzi to investigate circumstances surrounding the fire and their mother's death. >> we want to know how it happened. >> they did not protect teresa >> reporter: mongeluzzi and his team inspect the facility wednesday morning, sharing these photos which they say show the point of origin of the fire, a trash cannon an outside patio, and when the fire broke out mongeluzzi says the sprinkler system did not work, his investigators focused on that safety system 's water valve. >> this is that main valve, today at least, it was off. there is no indication, no evidence after of today that this valve was turned on, on the night. >> reporter: but with teresa fur ever gone the family's only goal to make sure that this doesn't happen to any other person ever again.

>> we can only hope she didn't suffer but we just didn't know >> reporter: atf just released a statement saying that the investigation is ongoing, special agent in charge, donald robinson says, while we cannot address specific statements or questions about particular aspects of the investigation, raised today, we can say that we are at a critical stage at our investigation. we also reached out to barclay friends senior living facility for comments about their fire expression systems but we received no response. live from the sat center, greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> greg, thank you. search is on tonight for two suspects who police say attempted to abduct two children. it happened as they walked to school on devereaux avenue in lawncrest to day investigators say that the two men were inside a green minivan and attempted to lure children toward the vehicle as they walk by. the children ran to cornell elementary and school officials called the police. >> one of the people that were in that van were in the outside of the van, looked

like i was opening up the hitch on through the trunk or back part of the van as children walked by him he made some kind of a comment or gesture to get into the car or to get in the car. he said something to the effect, they did the right thing, smart thing, they ran. >> one of the suspects was wearing a green jacket at the time. other was wearing all black clothing. police in atlantic county are investigating an assault of the woman walking in northfield. officers say a to year-old woman was grabbed from behind and then groped before fighting off her attacker yesterday afternoon. victim describe at salient as a white male in his 20's about 5-foot 10 inches tall, clean shave even, wearing a white t-shirt and gray sweat pants. he may have had scratches on his face and neck. if you have any information, please cat police. also now authorities are investigating a deadly accident in philadelphia's crescentville neighborhood that claims the life of the eight year-old boy. chopper three over whittaker street, two cars were involved

in a crash there. the driver of the striking car , says he had a diabetic incident which caused him to lose control. eight year-old was a passenger in the car that was struck. twenty-eight year-old man who was also in that car was hospitalized and currently in stable condition. police say driver in the striking vehicle left the scene in his car and later recovered ativan kirk and frontn ac streets. police are looking for a silver mercedes a.m. g like this one in connection with the deadly hit/run. bicyclist five two-year old kevin williams, senior was struck and killed last night on route 13 near bath road. a front decoration license plate with an eagle emblem was found at the that scene and believed to have come from that mercedes. eyewitnesses say that the mercedes was racing a mitsubishi at the time of the incident. police are searching for that car as well. now the decision on whether to reinstate charges against engineer in the deadly philadelphia amtrak derailment has been put off, at lee until

february. in september, reckless endangerment and involuntary manslaughter charges were dismissed against brandon bostian, pennsylvania's attorney jena peeled that decision. bostian was at the controls of the train when it crashed in port richmond in may of 2015. eight people died, 246 were injured. congressional republicans have passed their tax reform plan, now all president trump has to do is sign tonight to law. president invited g.o.p. lawmakers to the white house this afternoon to celebrate their first major legislative victory of the year. bill passed both chambers of congress without a single vote from democrats. republicans promised americans will start to see benefits of the plan come february. >> we are making america great again. you haven't heard that. >> with what we did last night and what the house finished this morning it means america is going to start growing again. >> what this represents is a promise that each and everyone

christmas day could bring chance for snow to parts of the northeast. here's what it looks like as we head into your monday. christmas day. this is just one model. this is not gospel but here's what could happen, area of low pressure along coast and cold air comes from the north. cities like buffalo, new york state, new england could see christmas snow. in philadelphia best chance for little rain. if this storm is further out possibly a wintry mix closer to the city. as of right now best chance to see any snowflakes within up toward poconos. that lifts out as we head into monday. we have an arctic cold front that will come through christmas night and dropping temperatures tuesday into wednesday. that will happen regardless. the question is will we see that wintry mix on christmas. some models don't have it at all. still up in the air but something to plan for if you have christmas day travel plans rain or wintry mix to the north and west. that rain saturday could slow you down a little bit. looking across the country traveling again tomorrow looks fine across the northeast.
