betsy ross, right lane block, that has been cleared but we have construction 95 south between business route one and street road that left lane block there, rahel, back over to you. meisha, thank you. lets get back to breaking news out of australia more than a dozen people injured after a car deliberately plowed in the crowd in melbourne. driver of the white suv rammed into pedestrians at a cable car stop. fourteen victims had been taken to the hospital two in critical condition. driver and second man have been taken into custody. stay about "eyewitness news" on air and on line as we continue to follow this break ing story. meanwhile locally philadelphia police are investigating a deadly hit and run that sent a man to the hospital and killed an eight year he had boy in the crescentville section. >> "eyewitness news" reporter frank does live at temple university hospital where that man is being treated. good morning, what do we know. >> reporter: good morning, rahel and jim. we are told police located the driver and that charges are pending. meanwhile driver who was hit and transported to temple

university happies expected to be okay, but sadly, his eight year-old passenger did not survive. cell phone video shows the horrifying aftermath of a hit/ run that killed an eight year-old boy on wednesday. >> unaudible. >> that is awful. >> this crash happened around 1:40 in the afternoon on whittaker avenue, and the boy was riding in an older model honda with a 28 year-old driver, trying to make a left turn off whittaker. that is when another car which witnesses described as speeding and weaving in and out of traffic slammed in the passenger side of the honda. >> it was the same accident right there in that same spot with the truck, bmw and at the light there was another one, it was like two accidents. now that is the third. >> reporter: witnesses said the 34 year-old driver got out , checked damage to his car and then hit a park car in his rush to get away.

officers later found his car at frontnac and venango. the driver took himself in another car to aria torresdale hospital to be check out. >> it is horrible. people have to know what they are doing, they have to start paying attention to the road especially driving down, no matter it is a opened long road you still have to go the speed limit. >> reporter: driver told police he experienced some kind of a diabetic episode but that still does not explain why he left the scene. but for now we are live from temple university hospital i'm frank did for cbs-3 "eyewitness news", rahel and jim, back to you. >> thank you. new this morning an attempted robbery is stopped when the intended victim pulls out a gun and opens fire. >> "eyewitness news" at 2200 block of stenton avenue in west oak lane. police responding to a shooting found a 22-year old man shot in the wrist. >> while investigating the scene a 28 year-old male approached police, stated that he was getting robbed and that

white house. new jersey governor chris christie is proposing a plan to allow new jersey taxpayer to write off their property taxes on their state returns since the new g.o.p. tax bill limits the deductions on federal returns. his administration estimates cost of the state would be from 150 to 170 million-dollar , and federal deductions change hits new jersey hard since it has highest property taxes in the country. the u.n. general assembly votes on a resolution that condemns president trump's decision to move u.s. embassy to jerusalem. trump administration any country that votes in favor of the resolution could face retaliation from the u.s. u.n. ambassador said that the u.s. will be taking names and the president also threatened to cut financial support. for the first time since deadly fire swept through a west chester senior living community we are hearing from the family of one of the victims. eight five-year old teresa malloy moved in the barclay friends senior living complex on october 21st, 26 days later she died in that fire.

malloy was within of four killed when five alarm fire ripped through the building. last night family's attorney say the sprinkler system could have stopped this tragedy but the system did not work. >> this is that main valve. today at least it was off. there is no indication, no evidence as of today that this valve was turned on. >> we can only hope that she didn't suffer in anyway but we just don't know. >> a barclay friends spokesmen tells "eyewitness news" that they are taking the fire suppression system information seriously and they are fully cooperating with investigators as they await additional information. meantime a lawsuit has been filed against parents of the cosmo dinardo, one of the men charged in the bucks county killings of four people in july. the family of one of the dinardo's alleged victims mark sturgis filed the suit, family claims his parents did not

safe guard their gun used in the murders of the sturgis, jimmy patrick, thomas meo and dean fix caro. his cousin sean kratz and dinardo both pleaded not guilty to the murders. no decision to reinstate charges to the engineer involved in the deadly amtrak crash. judge delayed the hearing until february. in september reckless endangerment and involuntary manslaughter charges were dismissed against brandon bostian. an appeal was late's piled for i pennsylvania attorney general. they decided not to the file saying there was not enough evidence. bostian was at controls have the train when it crashed in port richmond in may 2015. eight people died. 246 were injured. and repairs are underway to the highway and guardrail damage after monday's train derailment in washington state crews removed locomotive yesterday morning. other train cars were moved on tuesday. ntsb says train was traveling 80 miles per hour in the 30- mile an hour zone, federal investigators are looking into whether the engineer was distract by a employee in

training when the train went off the track. that crash killed three people and injured dozens of others. well, police are on the look out for two men who allegedly tried to abduct two children walking to school. this happened yesterday morning in the lawncrest section of the philadelphia police say men tried to lure the children into a green minivan as they walked along devereaux avenue, the children ran to cornell elementary and school officials there called police. >> one of the people that were in that van were the outside of the van, it looks like he was opening up the hitch through the trunk of the back part of the van. as children walk by he made a comment or gesture to get in the car but he said something to the effect of come here. they did the right thing, smart thing, they ran. >> police say within of the suspects was wearing a green jacket, other was wearing all black clothing. >> very disturbing. special delivery courtesy of a local police department and community. >> coming up next on "eyewitness news" this morning where officers turned into santa's help tours make christmas season brighter for

christmas came early for some children in burlington county new jersey thanks to the mount holly police department. >> police fire rescue units paraded through streets of the mount holly as operation saint nick got underway. annual toy drive collects gifts for local children in need. last night 12 families received bags of toys, bicycles personally delivered to their homes by the men and women in blue. santa and spider man also tagged along for the ride. some philadelphia police officers were spread something christmas cheer last night, five local families were the special guest at 17th police district's adopt a family for christmas program. officers in the district provided families with gifts, santa, of course was on hand
