at the city courtesy of palmyra cove nature park in new jersey, see, some cloudy skies out there, the city lights kind of showing off on those clouds, seeing little bit of a glare out there. but overall, looking good, we're dry this morning, 35 degrees right now in philadelphia, 32 in wilmington , we're in the 20's in millville, atlantic city, chilly start to the day there. 26 degrees, and in millville. here is the thing, don't have much in the way of winds. not dealing with the windchill like we were yesterday morning so, that is making it feel at least a little better out there, right? as we head throughout the day today, 9:00, 37 degrees, in the mid 40's, by the noon hour , not as cold as yesterday , actually going to be mild afternoon, clouds are going to dominate the forecast today. so you can look for high right around 52, yes, keeping all eyes on the christmas holiday. looking mainly dry for christmas eve, 45 degrees, but we could see the chance for couple of snowflakes, as we head into christmas day, details on that coming up in a bit, pat, over to you. >> kind of gets me excited i

love snow on christmas, who doesn't? good morning, nothing to speak of as far as travel concerns in the area, some construction issues, and we see that right here. this is the schuylkill eastbound, it is closed, we assure you it is closed between vine and south. that is in the eastbound direction, until about 5:00 a.m. also, one lane blocked in the westbound direction, as well. ninety-five northbound, at the betsy ross bridge, construction here, right up here under the overpass, be sure, but again, should be cleared out by about 5:00 a.m. in new jersey, 42 freeway, no delays if you are headed toward the city toward i 2956789 but here is one of the problem spots, it will be as the morning progresses, we've got couple of spots here , one, i76 westbound off ramp to route 130 southbound closed because of tractor-trailer accident. then 76 west, near i-295 one to two lanes will be alternating closed until about 8:00 a.m. jim, rahel, over to you. >> thank you, patrick. the next couple every days are expected to be intense travel

days leading to up christmas, and philadelphia international airport will be very busy place. >> yes, it l "eyewitness news" reporter trang do keeping an eye on things at the airport for us this morning, trang, good morning, how is it looking so far? >> rahel, jim, already a very busy place here at the philadelphia international airport. i'm going to take you guys right around here at this line this is security line. you guys, it keeps ongoing, it is actually about to loop over once again. see scott walking down here to show you all of the people in line. absolutely will be crazy, fun funny because it just changed within minutes, because the line was pretty short. then all the sudden all of these travelers started showing up for these very early morning flights. so, obviously, if you're applying later today, definitely allow some extra time for checking in, as well as the security screening, which you see here right now. now, it looks like this now is going to be absolutely even crazier because christmas, again, is next to a weekend. but triple a predicts this will be record year for holiday travel with more than

107 million people traveling to see family and friends for the holidays. now, here in the philadelphia area, more than 1.2 million people are leaving town, and the vast majority of them about 90% are driving to their destinations but train and air travel also up this year, some 80,000 people will be flying out of our area during this end of year holiday rush, obviously, many of them through this major airport, the philadelphia international airport. now, coming up at 5:00 we will talk to triple a to give you travel tips, if you will be driving, flying, or riding the rales, but for now, live from philadelphia international airport. i'm trang do, cbs-3, " eyewitness news," jim, rahel, back to you guys. >> thank you, trang. "eyewitness news" has learned second person has died from injuries after last week's fatal hit-and-run accident in northeast philadelphia. first told but the story on december 13. thirty-three year old machine was ejected and killed, in a early morning crash at distance and torresdale. >> this also confirmed the driver of the car has turned herself in. now, faces charges in the double fatal crash.

>> and, police have also filed charges in a hit-and-run crash that killed eight year old boy in crescent ville wednesday. police say mike and fin was speed whg he struck a vehicle, the child was riding in. fin told officers she had a diabetic incident, that's what caused the crash. officer say he was also driving without a license. >> four men who police say returned to help a family member are hospitalized after they were shot during a fight in southwest philadelphia. this happened around 9:30 last night, 6600 block of did your al street. woman was fighting with her boyfriend in the street and then called family members for help, when they arrived a brawl broke out. boyfriend opened fire shooting the four men, and the victims were rushed to the hospital, and they remain in critical condition. police are searching for that shooter. >> staying in southwest philadelphia, police are on the hunt for kill here they say fatally shot a man outside after store. this happened, just after 6:30 last night on the 5200 block of woodland avenue. officials say the shooter shot the victim in the chest. officers returned that victim

to the hospital where he died. police are trying to figure out motive for the shooting. >> a mother is frightened to return home after her baby girl is viciously attack by a raccoon in north philadelphia. four month old journey black on long road to recovery she suffered bad facial cuts, the attack happened on the 2100 block of north 22 street wednesday night. her mother said she spotted the raccoon earlier in the day and called the landlord to remove it, she plans to pursue legal action. >> laying on the floor, so it dragged her off the bed, across the room, and she was like real bleeding and crying. >> there is no reason why no animal should have got in a house where kids with minors. >> landlord tells "eyewitness news" everything has been resolved and to contact his attorney. philadelphia officials are shutting down some of the popular horse-drawn carriage rides. the order filed yesterday explains ill league -- a legal agreement between the carriage company and the city of philadelphia.

the company will seasonings cents as of january 1st, forfeit ownership of the horses to the city. city officials and activists say some of the horses face inhumane boarding conditions, and they classified their street street stables as inhumane. >> when you find out what is behind the scenes, it is horrible. i didn't realize where they lived. and i was shocked. it is so horendous. >> a lawyer for the owner did not return a request for comment. long time employee kyle hoffman said we truely love these animals, and other horse-drawn company will remain open, but philadelphia carriage company horses are now headed for a a sanctuary. >> famous philadelphia orchestra conductor loretta charles facing allegation of sexual assault. opera circumstances, classical musician say he abused them, un idanissavich dollars soprano who person formed with the conductor in 2010 says he pushed her against the wall and forced his mouth on hers. she also claims he attack her

in a dressing room while she was on the road with the orchestra back in 2006. he has led 650 performances with the orchestra is that, we reached out for comment, but haven't heard back. how much, the philadelphia orchestra association is investigating and released this statement reading in part : we had no knowledge of these allegations. the association is committed to provide ago safe and respectful work environment for all of it employees and guest artists, we've had no communication with mr. dutoit and he has no future engagements with the orchestra >> rittenhouse square, water main sprung weeks leaks in a matter of hours. >> this morning home and business onagawa remembers assess the damage. the main broke wednesday night , then again yesterday morning near 18th and locust. eighteenth was shut down between walnut and spruce, as crews made the repairs. flood of water made its way into the nearby curtis institute of music. in philadelphia. you can see we're dry on storm scan3, we do have quite a bit of cloud cover across the region, and clouds will be dominating the forecast throughout the day. if you are going to be traveling today for the holidays, you've got the green light. dry conditions throughout the day. the weekend, giving you the yellow light, especially for saturday. that's when it will be rainy at times, then cooler on sunday, sunday, overall, look okay and dry. christmas day could be talking about light morning rain-snow mix, maybe even some light snow showers, and we will be talking about that throughout the morning. but across the region today, just be aware up into new england, dealing with some snow moving on through, maybe even some icing as we head into saturday. we could deal with some delays if you are headed out that way this morning, some foggy conditions down south, even flashflood watch into the tennessee valley. so here's a look at what you can expect. this is what we know for christmas, cold air in place, watching coastal area of low pressure, that's going to bring us chance for rain-snow mix, or even wet snow today. high temperature of 52 degrees then quick check of your eyewitness weather seven day forecast, notice the warm up.

then the roller coaster drops us back down, 39 monday, 38 tuesday. but overall, travel conditions today, at least weather wise, pat, are good. >> not looking too bad right now. so if you want to get a quick start on the weekends, now is your time. except on the schuylkill expressway. as i back up, did this just open back up? yes, opened back up. it had been closed schuylkill eastbound, between vine street expressway and south street. construction looks like that is done now, normally around 5:00 a.m., looks like they're wrapping it up early this morning, though, one lane block westbound, though, i still believe is out there. you can see, right here, the cones along northbound 95, near betsy ross, blocking just the left lane, this is another one that should be out of here by about 5:00 a.m. then as we look at the vine street expressway, looking beautiful this morning, no delays, if you are headed through the city of philadelphia. now, out to 422, there is some construction going on out here so it is westbound closed between route 100 and the ben franklin highway, use route 724 to get around t and then there is some ramp closures here, bunch of things
