, here's what you have to keep in mind today. we have winter weather alerts up into new england, even into the ad ran dax, and also the potential for some icing as we head into tomorrow. so there could be some major delays up that way, especially as we head into saturday. flashflood watches across the tennessee valley, rain will be developing, starting out the day with fog, down south, and then otherwise, things look pretty quiet in the central part of the united states if you are going to be traveling across the nation. we'll have more coming up in your full forecast. for now sending it over to you >> thank you, chelsey. let's get you caught up on some issues on the roadway, relatively quiet morning so far except for this part of the morning. and that is a tractor-trailer, which has got itself stuck. it is 22nd street ramp to the vine st. expressway going westbound. disable tractor-trailer, trying to make that tight turn , couldn't do it, so that's the close angle, here is the wide-angle, see all of the lights up here on 22nd street. that's going to cause some myfoxphilly.com. it means either jump on the

schuylkill right by the art museum on spring garden street or you have to get on at 15th street right by broad street. so kinds of pain in the butt this morning, but that's what we deal with around 5:30. also, here is a look at the schuylkill expressway at city avenue. no delays as of yet. starts to ramp upright around 6:00 a.m. we'll keep an eye on things on the the owed ray -- roadway. forty-two freeway, headed toward 295 end at it city of philadelphia in new jersey, looking nice so far. so get out on the roadways. pa turnpike westbound at valley forge, there is some debris on the roadway, they're busy cleaning that up, and get that out of there. not causing any delays so far. just tap the brakes if you see them out there doing that, and then 422 some ramp issues, these closures are happening until 2019. westbound on and off ramp, so then the temporary off ramp closed, as well, so use some caution in these areas. jim, rahel, over to you. >> speaking every getting around the city, pretty soon you'll be seeing fewer of the horse-drawn carriages on the street of philadelphia. >> the city says some of the horses face inhumane boarding

conditions, now, officials are shutting down one of the operation action, our jan carabeo live at independence hall this morning with the story. good morning, jan. >> reporter: jim, rahel, good morning, these horse-drawn carriages are familiar site here in old city. they've been here for more than 40 years now. taking tourists on what seemingly is a quaint sightseeing trip around this historic area, as you mentioned, come the start of next year there will be one less horse-drawn tour company in the city of philadelphia. >> come on, smoke. >> i smokey and his friends will soon head to greener pastures. on thursday, the philadelphia carriage company agreed sees operations at the end of the year, and turn it its horses over to the city. >> looks quaint, romantic, but when you find out what's behind the scenes, it is horrible. i didn't realize where they lived. and i was shocked. it is so horendous. >> the city of philadelphia has attempt topped gain control of these horses cents since june. when city inspectors

classified their stables on 13th street as inhumane. an attorney for the owner did not return a request for comment. but off camera, one long time employee spoke to "eyewitness news" about the treatment of these horses cents, kyle hoffman said if they were sick , they were taken to a farm in lancaster county for treatment we truly lover these animals. hoffman believes the city more interested in obtaining the 13th street property than protecting the horses. but come next year, only one horse-drawn carriage company will remain in operation in philadelphia. still, janet white, who runs the philly organization, called carriage horse freedom, says there is still work to be done. >> to start, it is not an ends it is a beginning. the real solution is a ban on horse-drawn carriages in philadelphia. >> so the philadelphia carriage company will be allowed to continue tours through the ends of this month and then the city says they'll send these horses to a certified sanctuary. live in old city philadelphia, this morning, jan carabeo,

are good money moves right there. >> okay, thank you, diane. >> well, in other news this morning, fires continue to scorch thousands of acres in california but officials there already thinking about the aftermath. >> john loyer ends explains, the governor now asking the white house for help with disaster relief. >> it seems like it is the beginning of the ends of the thomas fire in california. >> continuing to decrease the staffing on the fire but maintain the appropriate presence. >> officials say the blaze is roughly 65% contained. the fire, which has burned about 273 acres in the ventura county area, is expected to be fully contained on january 7th >> we are working with the northeast winds, we have right now, it is red flag conditions for the area. but actually tis favorable conditions for the firing that's going on out there. >> the thomas fire is the final wild fire that still is raging in california, and all of the significant evacuation orders were lifted. california governor jerry brown request add major

and they're saying, you know what? it is time for me to go ahead and wake up. we've got temperatures right now in the 20's, and 30's, take a look at this observation right here. this is ed, he lives in chesterfield, new jersey, and right around 29 degrees where he lives, than is his comment: fine morning, happy friday, lasts day for work of the year if you are a teacher. that's right. a lot of people may be getting a head start traveling for the holidays later today or maybe even tomorrow. unfortunately tomorrow doesn't look at great. as far as other temperatures out there, talking 32 for mt. laurel, david in new jersey says 33, so generally here is the trend. talking some upper 20's, and some 30's out there. now, let me show you a look at temperatures across the rest of the region. we have 35 degrees, right now, in philadelphia. down the shore, in the 20's. that's actually kind of the colder spot for a change. 27 degrees in atlantic city. 27 degrees in wildwood. we're in the 30's in delaware, 32 in dover, and it is 36 degrees right now in the

wilmington area. also, we will show you look at what you can expect, as we head throughout the day today. we're generally going to be seeing temperatures, making it on the mild note of things, very mild side of things, as we head into the afternoon, we will see the numbers climbing, into the lower 50's, but the clouds will be dominating the forecast, pretty much all day, just keep that in mind. but overall today, it will be a good day, as far as traveling is concerned. as we head into tomorrow, that's when we will have some rain moving into the forecast. so not the best day for your holiday travel. we look dry sunday. then on monday we could be talking about couple of snowflakes around the region, i'll have details coming up in just a bit. pat, over to you. >> thank you, chelsey. quiet morning on the roadways so far. except for this guy, this is the tractor-trailer, and it is disable, it is actually stuck, it is the 22nd street ramp to the westbound vine st. expressway. it is causing a mess in this area, where they're already construction on 22nd street.

so if you come off of vine here, that's not a problem, it is the ramp going on. so you've got to use spring garden street instead or a little bit further east, would you use the broad street entrance, because this one is closed. now for the foreseeable future , they try to get this tractor-trailer out of here. we are showing the wider view to the vine street expressway, not looking too bad itself. see the flashing light here, it will be a problem, so again , 22nd street at the vine , that is closed. that's ugly in that area. but overall, not bad. no delays on 95, northbound or southbound, this is at allegheny avenue. not too bad right here. the boulevard is starting to slow down little bit. but no big delays that we can speak of so far if you're headed towards the schuylkill expressway. and there is something to tell you about, though, in mays landing new jersey, route 40 eastbound closed near old egg harbor road, that's going to happen until about midnight tonight. the alternate is route 322. and as we show you the wide, as chelsey said, people getting early start, if you like, you should do it right now. because there are no major delays throughout the entire

delaware vale. so we will get on the roadways , let's do it. >> can we leave right now pat? >> i'm gone. >> who is going to do the show well, time to buy holiday gifts is running out. if you haven't finished your shopping yet you're not alone. national retail federation estimates 126 million americans are, or half of all consumers, will shop this weekend on super saturday. that's last saturday before christmas, obviously, only 12% of shoppers are already done shopping. i'm among them. those early birds checked off all of their gift on their list by last week. well, the cherry hill police department says it will be on the look-out on the day after christmas, for out of control kids at the cherry hill mall. police say nationally there has been up tick in parent dropping off their kids, at the malls, unsupervized, the day after christmas. police say they'll not tolerate juveniles at the mall acting in a disruptive manner. >> we want people to come to the town like cherry hill, to go out and eat, to go to the shopping centers have, good time with their families. not to deal with a bunch of

rowdy juveniles un super advised. >> i like this idea. the police chief says kids acting inapropriately will be taken to the police station, for their parents to pick up. those engage guaging in criminal behavior will be arrested and prosecuted. >> well, getting together with family for the holidays, can be quite stressful. >> the cooking classes in california is hoping to alleve ate some of the stress through therapy. >> reporter: loves cooking for her family limb, but said she struggles to manage the stress that comes with it. >> oh, holiday cooking, yes, big anxiety for me. >> taking therapy 101. >> totally safe space. >> baking class that also helps people with mood disorders, anxiety, and addiction, focus on they're motions. she said she is working on control. >> when i'm cooking, i like to have g everything clean, if there is too much clutter around my work space it makes me feel a little bit anxious. >> licensed counselor, stacey cox, leads the class.
