. the holiday rush is on, travelers make their way to the christmas destination, while last minute shoppers hit the malls with the clock ticking. looks like the holiday weekend will start off rainy, stormscan 3 shows the wet weather moving into the region, temperatures will also be climbing. we're talking near 60, i'm ukee washington >> i'm natasha brown, kate bilo is timing out the rain and that's not all. kate, there's a lot to talk

about with this holiday forecast. everyone wants to know. >> we've got everything from temperatures near 60 to rain, to colder air and even a potential for christmas snow. let's start off with temperatures are still in the 40's, in fact, temps holding steady overnight, which is good news as the precipitation comes in. it will stay liquid. not expecting rain or freezing rain or snow. it's 47 still in philadelphia. 45 in wilmington, 42 in reading and above freezing in mount pocono at 35. here comes the rain. you can see light showers starting to move inform steadier rain, forming over northern virginia, this extends back to portions of the mississippi valley, that's headed our way, you start off saturday with that system rolling through some heavy rain at times, early in the day, as the cold front comes through tomorrow morning, showers and even perhaps a rare winter rumble of thunder before that clears out.

sunday christmas eve looks good. it could toss back moisture into that cold air and possibly bring a little snow, especially north and west light rain or wintery mix in the city. clears out quickly by monday afternoon, we go from warm to wintery with period of rain, late christmas eve into morning and sunshine on christmas day, your travel conditions the best day to get out will be christmas eve. again with the light rain from snow mix moving through. hopefully it won't delay santa. we'll time out the rain for tomorrow. natasha barack to you. >> thank you so much. with the work week over, holiday travel taking off. aaa expects 1.2 million people in the philadelphia area will travel between now and the new year. the roads, rails and run ways bustling even with such a busy

their homes. police in delaware are investigating an alleged sexual assault involving students at reading middle school in middletown new castle county. school officials are tight lipped and delaware state police are confirming they're investigating an assault and minors were involved. school officials notified parents >> kids have no respect for each other or adults and honestly, no respect for anything these days. >> police also tell us the investigation is in its early stages. the search continues for the man who shot four people. killing one of them in southwest philadelphia. it happened last night on the 6600 block. investigators say the four victims confronted the suspect after he allegedly assaulted a female relative of theirs. 23-year-old man died at the hospital this morning. the three other victims are in

stable condition. the suspect remains at large. police are also investigating what led to an elderly woman being hit by two cars in south philly this morning. authorities say the 83-year-old woman was struck before 6:30 while crossing the street at 24th and washington. she was pronounced dead a short time later. police say both cars that hit the woman stayed at the scene, the drivers are cooperating with the investigation. "eyewitness news" on the scene of a fire in philadelphia's port richmond neighborhood. broke out in a row home. a woman jumped from a woman to escape the flames, three children were able to escape. all four were taken to an area hospital. no word on the cause of that fire as of yet. california man is under arrest now and charged with plotting an isis inspired terror attack in san francisco on christmas day. the fbi found a letter in the suspect's home referring to president trump recognizing jerusalem as israel's capitol as

well as guns and ammunition. >> the fbi filed charges friday against 26-year-old everett jamison, a tow truck driver from california he made his first court appearance. accused of plotting an attack at san francisco's busy tourist attraction pier 39. court papers say jamison planned to use explosives to funnel the clouds. he allegedly told an undercover agent christmas would be the perfect day for the attack because he was ready to die. jamison's father and step sister are stunned by the accusations. >> i don't know what to say. >> reporter: they say jamison was muslim but not radicalized. the fbi says jamison was inspired by isis. they say he was plotting an attack that would have involved

both firearms and a vehicle. jamison is a former u.s. marine discharged for failing to disclose he had asthma. an fbi informant told the bureau he had been radicalized. he's charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. agents say jim mason praised the deadly truck attack in new york city in october be and the 2015 shooting in san bernardino. he could spend 20 years in prison if convicted. president trump is in florida tonight for the christmas holiday after signing the republican tax bill into law earlier today. the president signed the bill in the oval office. he said he decided to sign the bill into law rather than do it at a former ceremony several weeks from now. thus keeping his promise of tax cuts by christmas. >> the companies and corporations and you see that happening, corporations are literally going wild over this.

they spent the afternoon giving care packages to homeless residents at the cathedral kitchen on the 1500 block of federal. the packages were assembled by children in the projects guardian program, which serves at risk, youth. septa helping to bring joy to children in need. this morning, septa workers loaded bags filled with toys on to several busses parked outside of the transit agency's headquarters in center city. the gifts were delivered to several charities and churches. septa employees collected 18,000 toys, bikes games as part of their 37th annual toy drive. >> cool mule. that's very good. kate talking about the temperatures going up and down here. >> warm and rainy and cold and a little snowy. next week, what's going on, still on the weather roller coaster, it was a beautiful night in yardley. it was our holiday fest.

i was at shady brook farms earlier. they put on quite an impressive light show every year, you drive through, or you can ride in a wagon more than 3 million lights and more than 350 individual displays again you can explore in the comfort of your car or in that open air wagon ride. once you go through the two-mile stretch, there's fire pits, you can roast marsh, there's a complete farm shop. at great location and very quick to get to off i95 if you haven't been i would highly recommend checking it on it and you can drive through or ride through until january 7th. you still have time. keep the festivities going. let's take a look what we can expect in bethlehem. you can see clear skies, allowing you see towards the star you can see it on the mountain as you look into the distance, here it is on the mountain top overlooking the city, this is main street lit

up. the little huts we were there last weeks, little shops lining main street and behind the sun in there as well, looking beautiful in the christmas city. what do we expect? temperatures hanging around 40 on the live neighborhood network as the rain starts to push in. you can see the first batch of showers lifted north of philadelphia, bucks and montgomery county seeing a little light rain, the heaviest is off to the southwest. portions of kentucky and west virginia, this is heading our way overnight but tomorrow morning really. light showers developing through the next couple of hours nothing heavy. the wall of rain gets here early, around 6:00 or 7:00, that's when the rain will pick up in intensity. it will be mild and breezy at 57 for saturday. so what to expect. periods of rain, steadiest in the morning, thunder is possible
