lets get right to the forecast with meteorologist chelsea in gram with eye witt necessary weather. good sunday morning, chelsea. long line but chilly for them. >> colder then what we dealt with yesterday morning and that is the trend, jan, into the afternoon. merry christmas eve. let me show you temperatures across the reej on you can see how we're colder, 39 in philadelphia and millville according to our neighborhood network around 37, we have got 38 degrees in cape may county and medford lakes right around 35 degrees, there. here is 24 hour temperature change, acrosses entire map anywhere from three to 14 degrees colder all depending where you live, down the shore we are about 14 degrees colder in atlantic city as well as wildwood. looking at storm scan three shows we are quiet, big difference, we have got cloud but don't that have green sprinkled across the map. so, no rain as we are starting out your sunday morning but our zoom out and show you system out to our west, that is going to be bringing us a

quick shot of some precipitation, as we head in the overnight hours tonight and also tomorrow. throughout the day though sun, cloud, we will see temperatures rising to around 43 degrees by 3:00 a great travel day, travel weather but as we head into tonight that will change. we will have details in your full forecast, for now, back to you. >> chelsea, thank you. a christmas tradition is underway in the city of philadelphia this morning, the many families just can't celebrate the holiday without that dessert. a long line is forming at termini's bakery in south philadelphia. that is where we will find "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh very bus think morning. hi, anita, how are you doing. >> reporter: good morning, jan would i say this is my favorite christmas eve tradition with so many others here who feel this same way, some of these people have been line up since midnight 1:00 a.m., doors just opened up at 6:00 this morning. as you can see lines are wrapping through the building here. there is a kitchen back there,

that is, filled with people, dozens and dozens and hundreds and hundreds of cannolis, these people have been at work since the early hours of the morning preparing for this holiday tradition. i have spoken to a ton of people in line coming from all over in different states and they say thinks just part of the philadelphia and part of their annual christmas tradition. such a treat to be here to, make their famous cannolis at this bakery. hear from one man who is very first person in line this morning. >> i got here right around 1:00 o'clock, stopped, grabbed a cheese stake, kind of sat out here and enjoyed the weather, and the holiday spirit. >> reporter: why do you come so soon? that is the same story for so many people, who we have spoken to in line, i mean the line was wrapping outside, of the door and it is making and

police are trying to figure out who pulled the trigger. "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves has more. >> reporter: at lee two dozen investigators and officers were out here earlier for hours, trying to understand what led up to an officer's patrol car being shot at, here is what we know so far the call apparently came in around 7:00 o'clock that an officer's car was shot at, the patrol car was near intersection of second street and vine street here in millville it is un career at this time how many times police patrol car was hit but evidence markers show what appeared to be several bullet casings in the street. there were concerns that an officer was also shot an office shore may have been in the patrol car but authorities have confirmed that an officer was not shot at, or injured. investigators are not saying much more about this incident at this time or what led up to it. the good news again, although a police patrol car was shot at here in millville no officer was injured. in cumberland county alycia

nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". now to an update about a standoff between a gunman and officer in northampton county. you may remember on friday police say that the shooter killed his mother and then killed himself hours later. officers were called to a home in bethlehem right around 1:30 in the afternoon that standoff lasted more than eight hours fortunately no officers were hurt, investigators say gunman lived at that home with his grandmother. the cause of the shooting is still under investigation. u.s. department of home land security is calling the harrisburg shooting spree on friday a terror attack. authorities say that ahmed, shot at police from three different lexness harrisburg before responding police officers shot and killed him. now one officer was injured in the shooting but she is expect to be okay. >> it sounded like firecrackers at first, and then i heard a barrage of shots and i assumed that is

when officer shot back. >> now, dhs says he was a naturalized u.s. citizen who was admitted to the country from egypt on a family based immigrant vees a he returned from a visit from the middle east just weeks ago. top leaders of the atlantic city based miss america organization has stepped down amid reports of the derogatory e-mails exchanged. ceo sam haskill seen right here resigned yesterday along with president josh randall and chairman lynn widener. outing president also apologized yesterday to the 2013 miss america winner whose weight he ridiculed in the e-mail exchange with pageant officials. a slew of disparaging e-mails were leaked to the huffing ton post which first reported them on thursday. renowned conductor charles dutoit has denied serious accusations of sexual misconduct. his office issued a statement saying that the allegations have absolutely no base is in

a record number of americans are traveling for the holidays and many in our area appear to be avoiding the highways and going by air. at philadelphia international airport, things were starting to pick up at this security check in late last night, meanwhile families shared hugs and in the arrival sections, one traveler flying home to california tells "eyewitness news" that the airport was surprisingly quiet. >> my first time going back to my girlfriend so it will be real exciting. we were surprised. we thought we would get here and airport would be crazy and it has been pleasantly surprising. look at security it looks like it is not a big dealy heard this morning from kyw news radio reporter it is very busy out there right now. some 80,000 people will fly out of the philadelphia region by the end of this season, so

will be one of those americans out traveling for holidays, great weather today, tonight that is going to change a little bit and maybe even, in the we hours tomorrow morning, when santa comes. let me start off with a view of christmas city looking live from bethlehem there christmas lights looking simply beautiful, dry, total difference compared to what we dealt with this time yesterday know we will go live to center city where it is around 38 degrees. we have wind north at 7 miles an hour, and the dry conditions, here as well, and dry road making for that great travel weather throughout the day. 38 degrees in philadelphia 36 in millville. you will notice we are cooler compared to this time yesterday, and temperatures mainly in the 30's and they are not changing all that much as we head into the afternoon. we have wind from the north and west we don't have that warming wind today, wind will shift more out of the north ande so temperatures rising in the low to mid 40's for a lot

of locations and some might only stay in the upper 30's today. storm scan three shows a very quiet picture. we have some cloud across the region but it is, dry and that is helping, with those travel conditions, a lot of people hitting the road today, we will draw your attention out to our west we have a system bringing in some snow to place s like northern missouri, also into illinois, this is going to be taking a ride to the north ande and impacting us with the quick shot of precipitation heading in the overnight hours tonight and starting as early as this evening. we will talk about that but location is having the bows chance to see wintry mix and even some snow will be north and west of philadelphia berks county lehigh valley and poconos, some areas in the poconos, have a much better likelihood of seeing that, white christmas, with anywhere from one to 5 inches of snow, as a possibility. so lets talk about how this will all play out, throughout the day-to-day, couple of showers, making their way in to perhaps northern delaware,

even south jersey, as early as seven or 8:00 this evening, but overall a lot of areas like trenton, allentown staying dry, notice how this precipitation over spread from south to north as we head into the midnight hour tonight. if you are heading out to midnight mass carry the umbrella out, if you are around the philadelphia region just mainly rain but up to the north and west, some of the road could be slick up into the lehigh valley, berks county and poconos with the wintry precipitation making its way through. as quickly as this system moves in it moves out and we will turn mostly sunny as we head into the day on monday but that system will be leaving behind some significant wind across the region. a wind advisory issued starting at 7:00 this morning we could see gusts to around 50 miles an hour, possibly regional wide for areas highlighted in that tan or beige color. christmas day your forecast sunshine, wind which these wind we will see wind chills in the 20's. if you do plan to take a little walk after eat ago lot

back on "eyewitness news" a little girl in houston, texas will have a very merry christmas this year despite the damage and devastation left by her hurricane harvey. the eight year-old, made a christmas wish list while at her friends house on that wish list she put her family first asking santa to rebuild the roof of her home damaged by hurricane harvey. >> i was just trying to let them to explain like my hard life that my daddies sick inn

to yesterday but dry, we are not dealing with the rain. yesterday i was not out here because of the rain. different story i heard planes , lots of busy holiday travelers and weather will be just fine and cooperate with us for today if you are traveling for the holidays. let me take to you graphics and show you temperatures across the region. notice chill where it is 38 degrees in philadelphia 36 in wilmington. mid 30's in millville, atlantic city and then mount pocono around 27 degrees. we are dry, locally on storm scan three across the delaware valley just dealing with some cloud out there. zoom out draw your attention to the system developing off carolina coast bringing some rain to those locations, we also have a system out in the midwest bringing in some snow to some of those areas. so, if you are traveling today or you know someone traveling along corridor it is looking just fine, mixture of sun, cloud, temperatures in the 30 's and 40's. down south mid 60's for new orleans, partly cloudy, 55 in
