line right now waiting for their holiday treats. today is sunday december 24th, merry christmas eve everyone i'm jan carabao lets get over to meteorologist chelsea ingram with the eyewitness weather forecast, good sunday morning, lot of people standing out in line they are bundled up. >> it is chillier to compare to what we dealt with yesterday, with a temperature of 60 degrees. totally different. a lot more seasonal. we will look at really good travel weather as well, especially traveling locally let me take you to a live look at kutztown area, courtesy of our live neighborhood network cameras right around 34 degrees, there. you can see definitely chillier, compared to yesterday morning, but a seasonal day. this is how it should feel on christmas eve. thirty-seven in philadelphia. it is 36 in millville. same temperature in atlantic city. notice dry scan on storm scan three we have some cloud cover out there we will deal with sun and cloud throughout the day-to-day as temperatures, they are not climbing all that

and they have been coming here forever and say, what else should we do on christmas eve instead of go to terminis and ebb joy a tradition treasured for a long time. >> must be so special to be part of this family as well. they really put you to work. you have been here since six years old. >> yes, i come in and out sometimes. my parents make me come and work. but it is great to be fourth generation just to see how this shop has progressed, and moving along and so many things have been added and hopefully it will just get better as we go on. >> reporter: we have seen you in and out of this kitchen. you are doing a lot as well. what kind of prep has gone into a morning and holiday like this. >> i'll tell you my uncle has been through probably since three or 4:00 in the morning and they give everything to this and it is probably months of prep, after today, they

seeing him next christmas eve. >> reporter: absolutely. >> see new 30 minutes. since today is last shopping day before christmas there is in doubt going to be a lot of shoppers crowding the malls looking for those last minute presents. on super saturday, horde of people were trying to beat the holiday rush, many people took advantage of the extended holiday hours to complete their wish list, and, according to the national retail federation more than half of all consumers plan to finish their shopping yesterday we needed to get things for great people that work for me they were last on the list but first in my heart i live in chicago. there is some tax there. 10.5 percent. saving money. i'm here in cherry hill. >> saving in cherry hill. yesterday's holiday rush was also known as panic saturday, i can understand. that accord together experts it usually is men who are making those last minute purchases. if you still need to get something else as a last minute many stores will have

modified holiday hours today, k-mart will be opened from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. or midnight tonight depending on the location, wal-mart will only be opened until 6:00 o'clock and target will be opened and it will stay opened until 10:00 p.m. tonight. for a complete list of the stores, and their hours go to cbs philly.com and check out our 2017 holiday guide to mall hours, you'll find christmas and new years eve, closing times there as well. in other news today a millville police officer escapes injuries after gunfire hits his patrol car. now police are trying to find out who pulled the trigger, "eyewitness news" report's leash a nieves has more. >> reporter: two dozen investigators and police officers were out here earlier for hours trying to understand what led up to an officer's patrol car being shot at. here's what we know so far the call came in around 7:00 that an officer's car was shot at, patrol car was near intersection of second street and vine street here in

millville. it is unclear at this time how many times police patrol car was hit but evidence markers on the scene show what appeared to be several bullet casings in the street there were initial concern that an officer was also shot, an officer who may have been in the patrol car but authorities have confirmed that a officer was not shot at or injured. investigators are not saying much more about this incident at this time or what led up to it. the good news again although police patrol car was shot at in millville no officers were injured n cumberland county, alycia nieves for "eyewitness news". now to an update about a standoff between a gunman and officer in northampton county. on friday police say shoot there are killed his mother and then killed himself hours later, officers were called to a home in bethlehem, around 1:30 in the afternoon. and, fortunately, no officers were hurt and investigators say gunman lived at that home

with his grandmother, the causes still under investigation. the u.s. department of home land security is calling the harrisburg shooting spree on friday a terror attack, authorities say that ahmed shot at police from three locationness harrisburg before responding police officers shot and killed him. one officer was injured during the shooting but she is expect to be okay. sounded like firecrackers at first and then barrage of shots and that is when officers shot back. >> now dhs says he was a naturalized u.s. citizen who was admitted to the country for egypt from a family based immigrant visa, they say he return from the visit to the middle east just weeks ago. a special delivery still to come here on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this sunday morning a convoy filled with thousands of toys taking to children with the help of the police escort, coming up, the

record of numbers of traveling in the holidays and am peer to avoid the highways and going by air. at philadelphia international airport things were starting to pick up at security check in late last night and hear it is very busy this morning. families shared hugs in the arrivals section, one travelers flying home to california, this year tells "eyewitness news" that the airport last night was surprisingly quiet. >> my first time going back with my girlfriend so it will be exciting. >> we were surprised. we thought we would get here and airport would be crazy and it was pleasantly surprising. it looks like not a big deal. >> just get there early, right 80,000 people will fly out to the philadelphia region by the end of this holiday season.

it is good traveling weather today. >> locally from d.c. up to boston, jan, no problems at all. it will change. we are tracking a system heading our way. we will start off with a dry live look at the christmas city, looking live at bethlehem, and simply a beautiful start to the day, we have some cloud cover out there and these included will break for some sunshine from time to time overall a mixture of sun and included during the day and then see increasing cloud later this afternoon and this evening. temperatures are chilly compared to this time yesterday, right around 37 in philadelphia, we have wind coming out of the north/ northwest making it feel more like 32 degrees out there but not too bad, 34 degrees in wilmington. mid 30's in dover. down the shore, temperatures mid to upper 30's. thirty-eight wildwood. thirty-six in atlantic city. thirty-five in allentown. cold spot is mount pocono right now checking in the mid 20's. we will see some sunshine today mixing with cloud from

time to time and then 43 degrees is our high temperature for the day-to-day notice completely dry scan, locally, on storm scan three but you can see cloud across the region as i zoom out showing you wider view here we have a system out to the west tracking as we head in the overnight hours tonight and this will bring us a quick shot at precipitation for some of us in the form of a wintry mix and even some snow for locations north and west of town. we have a winter weather advisory for berks county lehigh valley and poconos that starts at 7:00 lasting through 7:00 o'clock christmas morning that chance for white christmas will be up in the poconos some of the higher elevations could pick up one to 5 inches of snow but doesn't look like we will have much luck right here in philadelphia but we could mix in with a flake are two or sleet and i will show you here on future weather. more likely we will see rain from the i-95 corridor south ande and delaware.

dry through the day-to-day. fantastic christmas eve travel weather, cloud will increase later on during ladder part of the afternoon and early evening we will see precipitation moving from the south in the form of rain along i-95 corridor into new jersey and delaware, but notice this mixture, located just north and west of philadelphia, we can mix in sleet, maybe even some snowflakes, but we will be dealing with all snow during the evening hours up into allentown and poconos. so heading out to midnight mass later on tonight, bring the umbrella we will be dealing with light rain across the i-95 corridor into south jersey and delaware, if you are heading home from christmas eve festivity, just make sure to keep in mind road s could be on the slick side in the lehigh valley, pocono, and it will move out of here and leave behind some wind. wind advisory issued goes into effect tomorrow morning gusting to 50 miles an hour. so on christmas day it will make it feel more like 20's

right around, and, upper 30's, and in the mid 30's, 34 in wilmington and cold spot is mount pocono at 26 degrees. quiet day on tap, and it will be cooler, 42 degrees by noon hour, right around 43 degrees. as we head in the 3:00 o'clock hour with increasing cloud ahead of our next system impacting us later tonight. and, and, and, you can see that cloud deck across the region. as far as travel is concern, today will be a fantastic travel day. we have green light, sun, cloud, very quiet, and then tomorrow, a little bit of the different story giving you yellow light because wind advisory has been issued. if you are flying in and out there will be departure delays due to cross winds and hold on to the steering wheel tighter with that wind gusting up to 50 miles an hour at times but we will see sunshine on christmas day. tuesday breeze which sunshine looks good, heading out from grand mom's house as well but we have a system that is heading in overnight tonight, we will have details on that

my dad, used to take me here at three or four years old. we came every year. my dad and my father-in-law were pisons, with joe term minute friday original owner from italy. it became every year we would come, for christmas cookie to the neighborhood bakery. the tradition continues with my son mark and my grandson. >> reporter: it has turned into so much more than a neighborhood bakery. people come from all over to get here and get their hand on these cannolis and you see same faces every year. >> every year, we see same faces. it is a reunion every christmas eve we come here for our christmas goods. >> reporter: what does it mean to be here with your son, three generations of your family members. you are here as well. what does it mean for you to be here. >> i think like my father said it has been a tradition not just coming to the bakery but

the whole morning tradition waking up trying to find a parking spot, smiling the whole time, somebody else gets out of the car to get in line. it is an honor to come back. and, passing on to the next generation, probably greatest part, the first time, my niece so fee, couple people weren't able to make it this year but it is just awesome to come back each year. >> it is so funny because bakery is opened until 5:00 this afternoon, people line up since midnight and they are like waiting game is part of the tradition. >> yes, it is part of the tradition. i don't eat breakfast in one eats breakfast because when you get to eat cannolis fresh out of the oven. that is exactly it, it is getting in line enjoying the whole experience, music and everything. >> great philadelphia, institution and this is your first time what do you think. >> it is really cool i like cannolis and everything, it is
