charitable causes. meteorologist lauren casey is tracking a storm scheduled to arrive this evening, will it bring snowflakes in time for the holiday >> i'm natasha thank you so much for joining us, we're tracking your holiday forecast and there could be a chance snow will fall in time for santa. but where? that's the question. lauren casey is tracking the storm from the weather center and she's got the answer. >> i heard santa travels faster when it is snow, it's a good thing we're seeing snowflakes, winter weather advisory in effect north and west of the city, berks county, lehigh valley and the poconos until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and we are seeing some flakes across parts of the delaware valley right now. stormscan 3 confirming that. very scattered in nature, quick moving band moving through chester then montgomery county then the last couple of hours seen flakes flying in and around reading, nice to see on this christmas eve and if you do have travel plans, tonight is going

to be as we head to the next several hours with rain picking up. chance of a wintery mix and snow. it will be scattered in nature over the next couple of hours and coming more uniform overnight. could see lingering flakes. and then getting cold as we head into next week. we're talking about this winter weather across the area, could see a white christmas and those winds will be kicking up all that coming up in a few, natasha. meantime tonight, four nuns recovering from a serious car crash feel lucky to be alive despite their injuries, their annual toy drive went off without a hijab. they're calling it their christmas miracle. alicia nieves is live in northeast philly where she caught up with one of the nuns who was just released from the hospital. >> reporter: we spoke to a sister to which is one of the

four nuns in that very serious car crash. it wound up showing the nuns that christmas miracles do, in fact, happen >> it's nearly two weeks since four philadelphia nuns were in a head-on crash in delaware county >> it's a christmas miracle all of us are here, and we feel blessed to be here. >> reporter: sister mary anthony is one of the four nuns who were in critical condition. >> there was a lot of broken bones, stitches i'm probably one of the best out of the four. >> reporter: despite broken bones and a concussion, sister mary anthony is out and the other three in northeast philadelphia are all miraculously in stable condition and on the road to recovery. >> every single one of us feels blessed >> the bigger concern was insuring their crash didn't ruin christmas for dozens of families in philadelphia, the nuns coordinate to give gifts to children. they call it operation santa

claus. >> still going to happen, i'm not sure how. >> reporter: and tonight, coming up at 10:00 and 11:00, natasha, we will show you how sister mary anthony and the other nuns proceeded to headache operation santa claus happen. that's what they're calling the second christmas miracle. alicia intensive cbs3 "eyewitness news" police released a suspect in connection with a quadruple shooting in southwest philadelphia that left one person dead and three others hospitalized. the manhunt continues tonight. the 21-year-old should be considered armed and dangerous, she's wanted for murder, three counts of attempted and other related to the shooting on the 5600 block of der rely street. anyone who knows where the suspect might be is asked to contact police right away. and north korea is lashing out now over the latest round of u.n. sanctions calling it an act

of war. the country's foreign minister said they will pay a heavy price, answer north korea for its november missile test. president trump took time out of his day to wish people a merry christmas eve this afternoon. he and the first lady helped track santa a class along with the north american aerospace demand commonly known as norad. they also took phone calls wanting to know when st. nick would be arriving. earlier the president took part that a christmas eve tell conference with members of the military people around the world gathered in bethlehem. an elaborate light display and celebrations were held in the town at the square, just outside of the church of native tea ahead of of midnight mass.

welcome back in philadelphia people have many holiday traditions, among them a trip to the bakery to pick up the treats. anita oh visited term ini bakery in south philly to find out why people are lining up every single year. >> reporter: to some it's as philadelphia as a cheesesteak >> it's what the holidays mean to me >> as early as midnight on christmas eve, the line starts forming outside of the flagship termini in south philly, when the clock strikes 6:00. vincent opens the doors and greets his guest. this has been an annual event

's. lauren santa willing coming through soon,, he may need snow >> they do have a shot for some of us but for today, pretty quiet. high temperatures around average, chilly not too bad, getting out and about and on the christmas village shopping. holiday things, 33 high temperature today. we start off at 37 degrees, so not too much movement in the temperature department today, getting a live look at center city philadelphia on this christmas eve, 41 degrees right now. easterly winds starring to pick up and that will be the trend throughout the overnight. winds will start to ramp up. windchill temperature down to 34

degrees, and temperatures have fallen off in the 20's in the poconos and the 30's in the lehigh valley, berks county, getting closer to that freezing mark, in the 40's right now down the shore, wind speeds starting to kick up. generally around ten, 12, 14 miles per hour but we do have the wind advisory that goes into effect 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, early christmas morning and throughout the day expires at 6:00 p.m. potentially could see wind gustses to 50 miles per hour on the holiday and for tonight, periods of light rain in and around the city, south jersey, but we could see times of snow and sleet. low temperature down 34 and for our holiday itself quickly turn mostly sunny, windy, a high temperature only at 38 degrees. with those strong strong winds, windchills will remain in the 20's for much of the day and potentially falling back into the teens for the birds game, if you're heading out there, you'll need all your eagles gear. windy conditions and by the end of the game, the windchills will be well down into the teens but

temperatures right now, chillier numbers currently, 34, 34 in berks county, 36 in blue bell and we do have returns now of snow on stormscan 3. it is patchy in nature at this time. but you do see the i95 corridor kind of dividing line between seeing rain and snow showers but northern delaware has seen a mix of everything, light in intensity but you could see flakes and potentially rain drops in or around delaware, wilmington, south jersey could see a couple of sprinkles moving off to the north and the lehigh valley berks county and poconos. seeing those bands moving on through and that will be the trend throughout the overnight period. mainly snow out of the north and west could see periods of a mix that mainly rain in or around philly as we head throughout the overnight. we could get a few flakes as we head toward the early morning hour, maybe a few flakes lingering if you're up early on

wreath. he had a round face and a little round belly. that shook when he laughed like a bowl full jelly. jolly old elf and i laughed when i saw him in spite of myself. a blink of his eye, twist of his head, soon nothing to dread. he spoke not a word but stayed to his word and filled all the stockings. and laying his finger aside of his nose and giving a laugh up the chimney he rose. he sprang to his sleigh, and away they all flew. but i heard him he can say claim as he drove out of sight. merry christmas to all and to all a good night. >> the late great harry callous. we've been running this for year, at this point their kids have kids.
