beautiful cut across the 20 yard line. hit by josh shaw of the bengals. ian: he is fun to watch. he gets in behind the blocking there of hurst and then makes the cut. almost gets away from a diving tackle. interesting to see how conservative the ravens get with this three-point lead. bengals only have one time-out to stop the clock in the two-minute warning. ian: second and 4 for baltimore. campanaro in motion. collins again. collins dances. and drives across the 25 right into dre kirkpatrick. a first down for baltimore. he picks up six. dan: even while he is dancing he is gaining ground, isn't he? i mean, he was making moves and still heading down the field

and punishing the tackler at the end of it. ian: baltimore gets to use more clock. we're coming up on five minutes to play in the fourth. line of scrimmage is now the 27. the ravens leading the bengals by three. straight ahead, buck allen. still going across the 45. eventually brought down by nickerson. 19 yards. what an effort by allen. ian: right through here. jensen, hurst, out on the linebacker. nickerson has to bring down allen 10 yards after contact. there is the contact. look at allen just drag

nickerson and two other bengals all the way to the 46 yard line. ian: vincent rey on one day knee. it's been a rough day for rey. vincent rey on one knee. dan: the ravens are basically breaking the spirit of the bengals. ian: 4-42 to go. first down for baltimore. at their own 46 yard line. dan: you talked about the ball security of the ravens all year. they've only given the ball away 16 times. they fumbled 19 but only lost four of those fumbles this season. a couple of power backs. buck allen and alex collins. looking to hang on.

ian: first down for baltimore. allen is tossed down. by michael johnson. no gain on the play. we're going to go under the 4:00 mark. second and 10 for the ravens. they have 300 yards of offense. the way the first half was going that number didn't seem possible for baltimore. they had 61 yards at halftime. second and 10 for the ravens. campanaro in motion.

get up and now is on his feet. he is grabbing at his lower back. and the ravens will punt it away with 2:51 left. cincinnati, one time-out remaining of the two-minute warning in a three-point game. erickson retreating. he is going to set up just inside the 10. ian: koch did get a punt block last week against the colts. looks like the bengals are going to try and get after it. dan: cox will snap it. koch standing. ian: waiting for it at the 35. here they come. koch gets rid of it. end over end. off erickson but made its way out of bounds. dan: erickson and dennard kind of ran into each other when

that ball was coming down. fortunately for the bengals it did crawl out of bounds. ian: 41-yard punt. tonight on cbs, begins with "60 minutes" and people who are making a difference in america. followed by swat, seal team, and bull. that's tonight only on cbs. dan: this is almost a disaster for the bengals as mayle is fighting off dennard and the ball hits dennard right on top of the helmet. it goes out of bounds at the 10. ian: cincinnati first and 10 at its own 10. dalton. punt by bernard. angles out of bounds. brandon carr there for baltimore to limit bernard to a three-yard gain through the air. dan: this is where dalton has to be thinking about two guys. obviously a.j. green is probably going to be double

covered everywhere but tyler crawford has had a huge game for the bengals. five catches for 50 yards and a couple of scores. been quiet here in the second half. ian: green has one catch for six yards. dalton looks that way. and he connects with tyler boyd. first down, cincinnati. dan: good read by dalton. a.j. green took double coverage down the sidelines, leaving boyd singled out of the slot. good pass protection for dalton. and the key thing, boyd getting out of bounds after the nane-yard gain. ian: 2:31 to play. marvin lewis' squad trailing, 27-24. cincinnati has one time-out remaining. dalton from the gun. floats it. that ball was up for grabs. buffalo has held on to defeat miami, 22-16.

so now it's very simple. the ravens have to win to qualify for the postseason. l second and 10 for cincinnati. 2:28 left in the fourth. dan: they're going to put a.j. green in the slot here along with boyd. trying to get him away from the double coverage and the press coverage. ian: green draws canady. dalton looks. green has enough for a first down. quiets the crowd with 2:15 and counting left in the fourth quarter. dan: he'll get a little help by brandon lafell clearing things out. nice adjustment to a high pass by green. ian: dalton sets. throws. incomplete.

tagged kroft. dan: remember, it was clark who blew the coverage on kroft's second touchdown reception in the first half. poorly thrown ball that time by dalton. kroft had his man beat to the sideline. ian: second and 15 for cincinnati. just over a minute to play. green in a matchup with carr. dalton throws it away. 58 seconds left. third and 15 for cincinnati. dan: a smart throw away by dalton. third and 15. but obviously you're going to go for it on fourth down. you have to. so he's got two plays to pick up the 15 yards for first down.

ian: dalton from the gun. dalton steps, throws. underneath. catch is made by kroft. but nowhere to go after the grab as he is hit by chuck clark. it's fourth down for cincinnati. they pick up just three yards. the bengals have only one time-out remaining. dan: kroft is heading to the sidelines. he kind of slipped as he was coming out of his break there trying to get up the field. ian: final time-out has been used. tonight on cbs, begins with "60 min making a difference in america followed by swat, seal team, and bull. that's tonight only on cbs. well, here it is. fourth down. the bengals need 12 yards to keep this drive alive and to

give bullock a possible shot for a game-tying field goal. dan: dalton has had success throwing to tyler boyd out of the slot. he's got single coverage right now. green for sure will be doubled at the bottom of the screen. ian: ravens trying to end it here. fourth down. dalton steps up. dalton throws. it's complete! caught by boyd! tyler boyd, touchdown! remarkable! the cincinnati bengals have stunned this crowd! andy dalton delivers. dan: a great job of finding the single coverage here. right down the seam. goes boyd. you can see that canady was more concerned with lafell on the outside. boyd single covered. dalton with time to throw. touchdown, bengals.

ian: dan, you said keep an eye open for boyd working out of the slot. that is exactly what dalton did. marvin lewis, a smile on his face in what could be a swan song and they are 44 seconds away from ruining baltimore's party. the extra point is good. the ravens have three time-outs remaining but they now trail, 31-27. if cincinnati wins, buffalo goes to the playoffs. ian: andy dalton great pass protection throughout that entire drive and that allowed him to calmly find number 83, right down the seam.

ian: lewis has deflected the questions about his future. dan: quarterback, 6-11 on that drive for all 80 yards. a couple throw aways and a perfect strike for the score. ian: cincinnati will kick it off. baltimore will have to go the length of the field. campanaro the return man. ravens have all three time-outs to work with. campanaro. veers to the outside. campanaro is out of bounds. 38 seconds left. campanaro just grabbed at his lower leg.

he went to the sideline. ian: he was 10 to 15 yards off the sideline when he grabbed for his leg. dan: oh, geez. he stepped on it. looked like a bag on the sidelines. ian: that ankle buckled. campanaro could have been a factor in the final 38 seconds. flacco and the ravens. they need a touchdown. watson, out of bounds. 32 seconds left. five-yard gain through the air. dan: it's an expensive five yards. took a lot of time off the clock. but you're right campanaro. not being able to go, that leaves the ravens with just two wide receivers, mike wallace and chris moore. quincy adeboyejo also in the game at the bottom of the

screen. ian: inex-peer yedges. second and 5. flacco is sacked! carlos dunlap. dan: great move there by dunlap. a little head fake to the outside. got austin howard off balance. he gets right to flacco and down he goes. ian: time-out called. 25 seconds on the clock. the formula was simple for baltimore. cincinnati, fourth down. not only converts. they get a touchdown on the baltimore d. the ravens were one down away from the playoffs. and now they face a third and long with 28 seconds left.

baltimore moving in the wrong direction. third and 14. flacco pumped. flacco throws it. incomplete. and it's fourth down. ian: the bengals' defense line giving the ravens' offensive line all kinds of problems here with pressure on flacco. of course they know he'll drop back and throw. they should be thinking about moving the pocket a little bit and letting him buy some time. it's going to take his receivers time to get to the necessary yardage. ian: here is their season. flacco throws it. caught by watson. great effort. he didn't get there. dan: nope. ian: it's short. vincent rey helped save the

first down and cincinnati will take over and baltimore's season will end right here. dan: he catches the ball. he needs about eight yards after the catch. how about vinny rey fighting off injury after injury, making the tackle, getting some help from jackson. and, clearly, short of the first down. tremendous effort by the bengals. ian: a stunner in baltimore. the cincinnati bengals with an extraordinary comeback. dan: especially when you think about their second half when they really offensively were unable to get anything going. they went strictly to the pass. on that last drive and converting a fourth down, not only converting or scoring with

it. unbelievable. ian: victory formation for cincinnati. the ravens' season ends with a thud. the bengals spoil baltimore's party. 31-27. the buffalo bills are going to the playoffs. dalton to boyd. a game-winning touchdown for cincinnati on fourth down. the ravens end their season at home, 9-7 for baltimore. they won 5-6 to get to this point but could not finish the deal against the cincinnati bengals. in what most believe is the final game for marvin lewis as the head coach of the bengals.

>> whitaker: good evening. i'm bill whitaker. welcome to "60 minutes presents." tonight, in this season of giving, we celebrate stories of americans whose generosity extends all year long. we begin with make-a-wish. if you could be anything-- go anywhere-- meet anyone-- what would you wish for? the make-a-wish foundation has been asking seriously ill children that question for more than 35 years. make-a-wish became famous by making dying children's final wishes come true. a child doesn't have to be terminally ill anymore to get a wish. last year, the organization granted 15,000 wishes. they cover a broad range. some children get to meet famous athletes.

one had much of san francisco pretend he was batman for a day. another chose to jump from an airplane. we wanted to find out what leads to these wondrous moments. make-a-wish is a growing organization that spent more than $200 million donated dollars on wishes last year. it's headquartered in phoenix, has more than 60 local chapters across the country, and almost 40 more around the world. to see how wishes become reality, we spent time with some of its most dedicated volunteers in one of its most active chapters, in the northeast corner of arkansas. as we first reported back in 2015, we discovered a place where, despite persistent poverty, we found inspiring generosity. >> thank you. >> you're fine. appreciate you so much. >> whitaker: they begin at dawn. one day a year, hundreds of volunteers fan out across

northeast arkansas to raise money. at street corners... >> good morning. thank you all. >> whitaker: ...in schools. >> $5,000... >> whitaker: you must have been surprised? >> kaden erickson: i was the most surprised i've ever been in my life. >> street: i'm so excited for you, you know it? >> whitaker: kendra street choreographed kaden's surprise. when not playing fairy godmother, she's teaching at marmaduke elementary school. everyone at the school chipped in to pay for kaden's wish; many turned out to share the revelation. >> kaden erickson: i get to go to australia! i get to go to australia! >> street: he was excited. he was grateful. and he knew what it meant for him and his family. >> kaden erickson: thank you, everybody. >> whitaker: kaden had endured two excruciating bone marrow transplants. when he, his parents, and four siblings hit the beach in australia, they hoped he'd beaten the cancer. the highlight of his trip? >> kaden erickson: got to hold a koala. >> whitaker: did he, like, put his arms around you?

>> kaden erickson: he... it was like a hug. it was about as heavy as a baby. and it would put the claws here and the claws here, and so it was like you were getting hugged by a koala. you kind of get attached to the koalas. >> whitaker: did it make you forget for a while that you were sick? >> kaden erickson: yes. it made me feel a little bit normal, more normal than i've been for a while. >> whitaker: feeling normal didn't last long. shortly after returning home, kaden learned his cancer had returned for the third time. as we settled in for our interview, his mom jeanne adjusted the medication he needs. it's pumped into his body next to his heart. you're in quite a struggle with this disease. >> kaden erickson: there are some bad things in my body that are kind of stubborn.

>> whitaker: i think you're kind of stubborn yourself. >> kaden erickson: thank you... i think. >> whitaker: kaden is so stubborn that, after deliberating for a week, he decided to undergo a third, agonizing, bone marrow transplant. the previous two were so difficult, his parents didn't want to force him to go through it again. how did you make that decision? >> kaden erickson: would i rather just die or would i have a chance of living? it was a tough decision to make. >> whitaker: because the therapy makes you feel bad? >> kaden erickson: it can make me feel bad. it can hurt me. it could do more harm than help, so i'm just hoping this time it will get rid of it for good. >> whitaker: kaden's wish- granter, kendra street, was

devastated when she learned his cancer had come back. >> street: you have an attachment with your kids, and kaden's one that i've really attached to. and i've gotten to keep in touch with him, and so, seeing him have to go through that again, it's... it's just painful. he's just a really amazing kid. >> let's give kendra a round of applause. ( cheers and applause ) >> whitaker: you see, kendra had survived her own fight with cancer. back when she was in high school, she had her wish granted. >> make-a-wish foundation is sending you to the atlanta braves. ( applause ) >> whitaker: getting to meet the atlanta braves was thrilling, she says, but... >> street: not to underestimate what my wish was for me, but if i had to sacrifice having my wish to be able to give it to someone else, i would definitely be willing to give it to someone else. >> whitaker: being the granter of the wish is the better end of the deal. >> street: absolutely.

you get to give that joy. you get to pass it on to someone else. >> whitaker: the same chapter passed it on to gavin grubbs. he suffers from debilitating muscular dystrophy, and his wish was to meet race car champion joey logano. the day we met them outside charlotte, joey took gavin for a spin. they met seven years ago, and have become so close, they call or text each other every week. >> joey logano: can you see anymore? >> gavin grubbs: i can't see. >> whitaker: gavin was a groomsman at joey's wedding. it all began back when gavin was eight. >> make-a-wish is sending you to the daytona 500! ( cheers and applause ) >> whitaker: at a school assembly, gavin learned he'd get his wish to go to daytona and meet his hero. then, it got better.

logano had flown to arkansas to be part of gavin's surprise. ( cheers and applause ) gavin may have a serious disease, but, as you'll see, he doesn't take himself too seriously. so, gavin, tell me, you are fighting a rare form of muscular dystrophy. >> grubbs: yes, sir. >> whitaker: how does it affect you? >> grubbs: main thing is i don't have the strength of a normal kid my age. obviously, i mean, i'm in a wheelchair, but it's not all sad because, i mean, you're... when you got a disability, people give you free stuff. ( laughs ) people let you do cool things. i'm not saying i take advantage of it, but yeah, i take advantage of it. ( laughter ) and sometimes i feel a little bad for taking advantage of it, but, you know, it's worth it, hanging out with this idiot. ( laughs ) >> logano: yeah. >> grubbs: it's okay, no pressure.

>> whitaker: gavin gives back, too. he helps raise money for new wish kids every year. >> grubbs: it feels good to help other kids. >> logano: that's, to me, is maturity beyond your years. you take advantage of the stuff that comes your way, as you should. but you also, you know, you give back. >> whitaker: make-a-wish began back in 1980. seven-year-old chris greicius, dying from leukemia, told his parents he wanted to be a police officer. arizona police made him an officer for a day. the power of his wish launched a movement. are there wishes you can't grant? >> matthews: the one wish that's the hardest to say, "i can't do" is, "can you make me well?" that's a tough one. >> whitaker: what does that do to you? >> danna johnson: makes you cry. >> matthews: breaks your heart. >> street: thank you so much. thank you. >> whitaker: years before she became a volunteer, getting well had been kendra street's first wish. at the time, she thought her cancer was fatal.

>> matthews: yes. >> johnson: she was one of those that, her first wish was to "make me well, so i want to live long enough for my mom to see me graduate high school." she was a senior that year. >> matthews: they remind you that the little things that we think as adults are so traumatic are so small. i mean, when you think about what these kids are going through-- they may not see their next birthday. >> whitaker: kendra saw her next birthday, and since then, 15 more. her cancer remains in remission. at marmaduke, where she teaches, the whole school takes part in make-a-wish. >> street: they just understand the power of a wish. it's just, once they saw the first wish granted here, our kids wanted to help give that to someone else. and we're a tiny, tiny school, that's raised... last year, we raised $15,000. that's incredible. it plays a huge part of who our kids grow up to be.

>> kaden erickson: there's a crocodile in there! >> whitaker: i don't want to overstate this in any way, but did the trip to australia bolster kaden's will to live? >> jeanne erickson: having australia with him, having those memories, talking about that, it kind of gives him fuel to fight. >> kaden erickson: sometimes when i'm sad, i can think of all the happy things i did in australia, and how amazing it was. >> whitaker: you're not going to let this cancer win. >> kaden erickson: thank you. >> whitaker: you saw how courageous kaden was, but unfortunately, this story has a very sad ending. his cancer was relentless. shortly after our interview, kaden died.
