live at storm scan three, everything is calm right now but we are tracking a nor'easter that could bring snow to much of our area. winter storm watch is already in effect for parts of the jersey shore. hi, good afternoon i'm ukee washington. i'm nicole brewer in for jessica dean. meteorologist kate bilo is in the cbs weather center and when we can expect to see this snow, kate. >> this is almost adding insult to injure after this blast of cold air we have been enduring for better part of the week now. we have got a nor'easter to watch and behind that even colder, air, moves in if you can believe that. temperatures hard to believe we are talking about anything colder then what we're already feeling, 23 right now in philadelphia, barely got in the low to mid 20's today, still in the teens in allentown, reading, lancaster, 11 in mount pocono. that tells half story. winds are not that strong today but it doesn't take to much make it feel colder and still know pack on the ground north and west. keeping the cold locked in

there feels like five in allentown. eight in reading. nine in lab caster. 4b low in mount pocono. no better than teens in millville atlantic city and wildwood. by from you some spots will be seeing high temperatures, around these numbers. that comes following a re enforcing blast of cold air, that will follow our mid week nor'easter. lets look at ingredients setting up approaching mid week time frame. storm scan three locally is just cold but dry, but tough to see the pieces of energy coming together to form this system this right here is an arctic cold front the coldest air of the season now diving into the northern plains and that is, again, just reenforc ing blast of what we have been feeling. we have a disturbance down here. little bit of light snow in arkansas. as this moves east it will combine with a very active tropical jet stream and that will produce risk for snow along the coast, late tomorrow night but especially into thursday. the center on this have low will stay far enough out to

sea this is not a major snowstorm for much of the region at lee with the current track. you can see track is far out to sea but brush of snow heaviest licensing the coast on thursday, lighter inland and then becomes a major snowstorm for new england and canadian maritime province, tomorrow night and thursday, accumulating snow, very strong winds, track will determine exact impact as far as accumulation but coming up i'll tell you about that winter storm watch which areas are impacted and later snowfall map as well, so you can plan what you can see in your area for now, ukee and nicole. back to you. water mains are breaking all over the area. some are not even, excuse me able to handle the deep freeze in the west conshohocken balance mink go road and front street have water flowing like a river this morning. >> in moorestown, new jersey on kings highway near haines drive the morning rush was disrupted by water and a block travel lane. in northeast philadelphia overnight more than 100 homes were left without water at min

"eyewitness news" reporter chantee lans is live in conshohocken where crews have been working to fix the 30- inch water main that burst this morning, chantee. >> reporter: nicole and ukee crews are very wussy that the hour. they are tearing up this road to allow crews to get beneath road to the broken pipe. what they want to does replace portion of the pipe with a new pipe to get as many of the thousands of customers backup and running water gushes on you the side balligomingo road near 476 in west conshohocken. >> fortunately the water took dumpster right out of the dumpster depot. >> reporter: massive 30-inch water main break caused lower water pressure for more than a thousand aqua pennsylvania customers. in montgomery county. >> it stopped most of the water from coming in it made a dam. >> reporter: pete toner, employee with summer wood

corporation which operates more than a hundred fast food restaurants in the region is one of them. he took us inside, and showed us the damage. >> there is mud coming out of there. it shut down our main so we don't get mud through the cyst em tell. that is all we have. >> our computer broke down. it is only affecting, some of our credit card machines and some locations. >> reporter: inside took in two to 3 inches of water, destroying the carpet that was installed three months ago, outside crew where is working in frigid temperatures to fix concrete pipe. >> it has been tough. we had a rough weekend with quite a few breaks. it is perfect to keep them safe, warm, moving as best we can and try to fight mother nature. >> big inconvenience. we will get through it. >> reporter: back out here live, what the their gushed out of the pipe snapped this pole and caused pur to be cut off to some customers. water company is hoping to have everything, turned back

on, by tomorrow morning. that is very latest live from west conshohocken, chantee lans for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> chantee, thank you. residents in the park wood section meantime of northeast philadelphia are cleaning up from that water main break that happened overnight. around 3:00 this morning on mi nden and medford road when a break in the 8-inch main sent what the inert basement of home owner tom garas. >> damage is already done so what can you company. you have to call your insurance the next day and hopefully get it taken care of fast. >> at lee 125 homes were affected by the water main break, crews are still working to get service restored. break in moorestown burlington county forced drivers to use caution because of icy conditions. police diverted traffic around the problem area on kings highway between pleasant valley apartments and haines drive. water services was not affected. initial reports of the water main break and the high school turnout to be a malfunctioning

sprinkler head. it sent water on to the floor in a room at the school this morning. students were evacuated and taken to a nearby building while the situation was fix. short time later students returned to class and all is back to normal. classes were cancelled at interboro high school in prospect park delaware county. that is because a pipe burst. there is no word from officials if the school will be opened tomorrow. we are not loan in dealing with this bitter blast, much of the country is and has been shivering for days now. take a look at this chilly sight. that is niagara falls. it is largely frozen solid. coming up on "eyewitness news" at 5:30 kennett craig will bring us up to date on the ex- supreme cold around the nation. that cold causing similar problems this water main break sent water shooting 30 feet into the air. this is, massachusetts near boston. it took crews hours to shut water off, ice formed every where and we're told roads in

that area have new reopened. class back in session gloucester county school forced to close because of mold is now all cleaned up. officials reopened white hall elementary in monroe township this morning and welcomed back students. the school was shut down in october due to mold infestation. students have been attending class at williamstown middle school while clean up is underway. >> patients, persistence we were able to get it done. we were able to get back in the building. you can see smiles on the kid, principal, the teachers, everybody is excited. >> holy glenn elementary and other schools in the district that was shut down because of mold remains closed. philadelphia's new district attorney is promising sweeping change, today marked inauguration day for larry krasner the cities first female controller and hoe of judges. ing blast of the cold we have already been feeling. no snow on the beach just yet, that is about to change but take a look at this, there was what appeared to be a snowy ow l do you see that guy on the beach at wildwood crest blend nothing with the sand, snow ow l, thanks to nick holland of the wildwood crest recreational department for sending these photos. he is just hanging out about 9:15 this morning. these owls are found mostly, get this in the arctic tundra, of course but can fly down in the northern u.s. right now it does feel a whole lot like frozen arctic tundra so he is feeling, right at home. >> right at home. >> even more so once it starts to snow on him by tomorrow night. >> yes. >> it was a beautiful day down the shore, misleading, we sped this up, this was the sunset at cape may. look at that beautiful sun below the area you can see shadow and actual sun below the horizon this afternoon. it looks beautiful, deceptive ly nice today because it sure didn't feel all that

nice and there is the aftermath of the sunset in the boardwalk plaza camera here and neighborhood network in rehoboth beach. good news is about a week or two ago this camera would have been completely dark at this time. now we are still seeing light. we are starting to see those days get longer. you have to find positive in the forecast like this one. storm scan three is quiet but ingredients will come together to make a perfect storm of mystery for portions of the u.s. snow in the deep south expected as we have one disturbance here, arctic cold front here and very powerful jet stream off the coast. all that comes together to form a nor'easter tomorrow into thursday, and a lot of this will stay off shore, but it will be close enough and large enough of the system it will throw moisture back the coast. it doesn't look like it is heavy blanketing snow in philadelphia it will reenforce the cold behind us. wind chills right new around our area, 11 is what it feels like in the city. five in allentown.

4b low in mount pocono. core of the arctic air is off to the northwest over great lakes region. current feels like temperature in chicago is 12 below, two below in cleveland and six below zero current wind chills in minneapolis. overnight bitterly cold night 14 degrees your overnight low in philadelphia not a lot of wind tomorrow. tomorrow is the nicest day of the week. thirty-one, probably will feel like summertime. sunshine early in the day and cloud increasing in the afternoon and that is as our next system approaches from the south. what to expect with this next storm? snow will begin after 9:00 tomorrow night possibly when we go on the air around 11:00 lightly snowing down the shore, taper off thursday afternoon high totals near companies blowing snow, and low visibility will be an issue as well. here's what that looks like future weather showing sunshine tomorrow morning 10:00 a.m., no problem, calm before the storm, cloud increase tomorrow afternoon but see by 10:00 o'clock

tomorrow night we will start to see rain or snow down the shore, some spots will be above freezing. 2:00 a.m. only along the coast not a big deal but by time we wake up thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. snow will over spread the area from the city one and will have been snowing for a pro lock period. greatest impact as we head into thursday afternoon slowly snow begins to taper off and lift to the north ande. your winter storm watch will be in effect tomorrow evening through thursday afternoon, and that includes all of our coastal area from ocean county down through cape may county and sussex county delaware. these areas will see heavier snow. we have three to 6 inches of snow in that part of the region, one to three in the city and eastern suburbs especially with the high amounts to thee and coat to go an inch north and west where the snow is expected to be lighter but the exact track of that storm, it is going to determine exactly what falls. it could stay further off

severe cold led to slick road conditions in michigan and caused several accidents in houston. it even caused part of the bay to freeze in mobile alabama. this cold weather is expected to stick around for a while. and, of course, another major concern especially in big cities like philadelphia and here in new york are the number of homeless people who are living on the streets. i can tell you crewness new york city have stepped up their outreach efforts, right now working seven days a week to get those people in shelter who need to be helped. >> such a bad time to be forced on you the in the cold. do we have any ideas where displaced resident are, right now, craig. >> reporter: well, incredible, imagine, coming out of this building when it is 10, 12 degrees, that was situation here this morning, american red cross was on here, on hand , here, throughout the day trying to get those people into temporary shelters as we find a new place to live.
