lines snake around the building yesterday evening, for the first public viewing for lieutenant matt letourneau , even more people are expected here today, before he's laid to rest in springfield, where he grew up and developed his passion for fire fighting and service. >> his brothers in uniform carried lou ten at matt letourneau's casket into the cathedral basilica thursday. so the community, and those who loved him, could bid their final farewell. he influenced so many lives with what he did , just by the example he set, by his mentoring of younger fire fighters, even older firefighters like myself >> eleven year veteran of the philadelphia fire department, lieutenant letourneau died on january 6 while battling house fire in north philadelphia. among the thousands of mourners at the first public viewing, current and former colleagues, extends members of the philadelphia fire family. like leanne stowe, who shared her memories of a firefighter she says was as joyful as he was knowledgeable. >> funny, always willing to

help, always involved, all of the stories that you have heard about him are true. >> firefighters from across the country lined up to pay their respects, to a hero they didn't know, but whose job they know all too well. >> yes, just being here, we want to be able to give them strength in our prayers. >> friday morning, dignitaries and family will once again gather for a second public viewing and lieutenant letourneau's funeral. >> of all of the people i've known, very few people i've known had that absolutely nothing negative can be said about, and matthew is one of them. >> and the funeral procession will lever the cathedral basilica sometime after 12:30 p.m. this afternoon and go on to the cemetery in springfield township. because of the procession, police will pemporary harley close ramps on part every vine st. that includes the eastbound vine street expressway, southbound 95, and the northbound blue route. we'll have those full road closures at cbsphilly.com. also on our website, we will live stream the funeral
