we are bea to experience some weather whiplash. meteorologist, kate bilo with more on the rain plus big changes to the temperatures as hnds, kate. >> that's right. it has been so warm over the past couple of days, we have gotten used to the spring like feel outside. all coming to nd very rapidly. we have the last gasp of rain starting to head toward the region. so little break in the action right about now, youant time to take the dog out one last time before bed, now might be a good time to do so, or in the next half hour or hour at least, this next batch comes through overnight, that's the last push of rain with the system, but also going to be very heavy. notice how that wine of cold air, snow and ice; just crashing through central pennsylvania. temperatures dropping very, very rapidly. we are going to see some ice form in our far northwest suburbs. some records were broken today point pocono hit high of 58 degrees. that's the new record there. allentown, 60. and reading, tied the records of 63. we got close to our 72 degrees

records in philadelphia, but not quite. we did get to the upper 60s. it is still 62 degrees in the city. sixty-four in allentown. notice, that cold air already starting to bleed into the poconos, down to 42, see that north wind, very sharp cut off between the cold air to the north and the warm air to the south. so over the next two hours, we will see more rain move through, heavy downpours around 2:00 a.m. then there is the wintery mix to the north and west. tomorrow, temperatures crash, 3:00 a.m. still right around six off degrees. by 9:00 a.m., it is in the 30 's. and if you are headed out tomorrow, headed to the eagles game, or maybe for your tailgate time, look at these temperatures. only in the 30 axe a far cry from today's warmth. coming up i'll tell you more about the winter weather advisory for portions of the region and how cold the seconds part of the weekend will be. >> whatever the weather eagles fans are getting pumped up for tomorrow's big playoff game. >> some made last minute dash to the store for green gear.

began as a missing person's case involving this university of pennsylvania stude, it is now ending with a murder arrest of one of his friends. >> today at approximately 1:15 l lincoln woodward, 20, of newport beach, on suspicion of homicide. >> after more than a week arrest in what's now the murder of 19 year old blaze bernstein, bernstein witnessing -- went missing on the night of january 2nd. orange county sheriffs say he was pick up at his home by his friends samuel lincoln woodward, two reportedly drove around before finally ending up at a local bernstein's body was laters did i covered in a shallow grave in that park, and police were led to bernstein's friend >> based on inconsistency in the story of the friends, our investigators focused on this individual, as a person of interest in the homicide of blaze, the specific whatever occurred at the park are part of the ongoing investigation.

>> blaze was home in southern california on winter break. he was a sophomore at the university of pennsylvania, majoring in psychology. he was active in several publications on campus. friends and family members had been holding vigil for the 19 year old, all now coming to grips with the tragic ending to his life. blaze wanted to make the worlds a better place. with his death, a beautiful light has been extinguished. and we encourage to you continue to shine his l through act of loving kindness >> well, an autopsy has already been conducted at this point. meantime the final cause of death will be determined following toxicology reports. live here on the campus of the university of pennsylvania, natasha brown, cbs-3, " eyewitness news." >> all right, natasha, thank you. the outrage continues over disparaging remarks attributed to president trump during oval office meeting on immigration. he flew to mar-a-lago tonight after dodging questions from

reporters. during a bipartisan meeting on immigration yesterday, the president allegedly said of haiti el salvador and countries in after, a quote ( do we want all of these people from expletive countries here. we should bring in more people from places like norway. this morning, the president tweeted a partial defense saying this was not the language used. but some in the room like illinois democratic senator dick durbin, disagree. >> it is not true. he said these hate filled things. and he said them repeatedly. >> president trump also had a physical examination today. the preliminary report from the doctor revealed quote the president is in excellent health. >> camden new jersey has a new mayor. frank moran took the oath of office tonight. "eyewitness news" baptist church for the ceremony. mayor moran, a democrat and former city council president; camden's 48th chief executive. he succeeds dana redd. mayor moran said he's committed to moving the city forward. >> hundreds cents remembered

fallen philadelphia firefighter, matthew letourneau, during his funeral service today. >> letourneau's flag graped casket was placed upon engine 45. he was killed last saturday while battling north philadelphia rowhouse fire. duri r of remembrance, cathedral basilica, fire commissioner adam teal eulogized letourneau who will be promoted to captain. >> he has gone ahead and joined a company of other heroes and is no doubt that they are working their way down that smokey hallway making it safe for the rest of us. >> we will never forget the incredible sacrifice that lou teen and the matthew letourneau made to keep the resident of philadelphia safe.yt responders who have given their lives for us rest in peace. >> hundreds lined the streets

a copy of the portrait was give tone his family. and tonight, we're meeting the man behind the brush strokes, an artist in the police department's forensic unit. he makes it his mission to remember the fallen, not just here in philadelphia, but all across the world, and for that , we give officer johnny castro three cheers. here's david spunt. >> reporter: in a drab, quiet hallway down in the basements of philadelphia police head quarters you'll find an office that stands out among the rest >> i started here about two years ago. >> and an officer with a talent that bridges joy during a time of great pain. philadelphia police officer, johnny castro, spent nine years patrolling the streets of the city. now he is painting portraits of the fallen. firefighters, police officers, and members of the military. >> some of the stories about how they were killed are just horendous. >> castro's mostecent work is this poor trait, 42 year old fire lieutenant letourneau

, 11 year veteran ryintran tto save people at this colorado street home, when windchills were in the single digit. >> you hear about what happened to him, how they went for like 30 minutes, never left the side, pretty emotional store. >> i castro painted more than 150 officers, and six homicide victims since 2016 and his reach touches many countries. >> i've done police officers in australia, great britain, paris, i've done one from canada. if i see something in the news about it, and there is some decent pictures and photogra to get something done, and then ship overseas to him. >> he pace for it all out-of-pocket. each day at the office, he sketches composites of suspect these portrait of the fallen are done in his free time. >> maybe like two hours a night, three hours a night. >> these look like photographs >> this does not like like a painting it, looks like a photograph. >> every portrait basically the same, you have to work with the best reference photos you can, the better pictures i can get, the better the

portrait will be. >> he takes pride in every portrait. never met any of his subjects edge even the ones kill on the job with the police department but that doesn't matter. his job is to comfort family and friends. >> it is good to know that in the end, somebody they know is going to be getting these portraits. >> in philadelphia, david spunt, cbs-3, "eyewitness news ". >> johnny, thank you for your service. >> eighteen people are now confirmed dead in the southern california mudslides, among them a mother who was asleep with her three year old daughter and ten year old nephew. at least five people remain unaccounted for in the town of monteceto. they continue to sort through the rubble there, more than 550 homes and buildings are damaged or destroyed in santa barbara county. >> well the flu is now widespread across almost the entire country. take a look at this map from the centers for disease control. the brown shows areas with widespread flu activity, hawaii is the only state where it is not widespread. however, the news is not

bad in the cdc says number every cases no longer sky rocketed like they were in the month of december. >> well the philadelphia restaurant scene is the hottest it's ever been. >> people love to go out and eat in the city, and according to new survey philadelphians are also very generous when it comes to tipping. and nicole brewer tells us, we're actually the best in the nation. >> according to the latest zag at survey americans eat out spending average 36.40 per person, and for good reason. >> i love to eat. >> i don't like cook. >> nice getting out of the house. >> philly has amazing food scene. i want to go out for those reasons. >> with good restaurant come good service and good tips. >> they're serving us, and they're providing great experience. >> in our city it doesn't go unnoticed. did you know philadelphians are top when it comes to tips? >> that's awesome. and it makes me feel proud to be in the city and be here. >> i think that's true. i think that's because a lot of people maybe in their past have been in the food industry

layers. tomorrow will be cold. sunday will be even colder. it will feel like winter has when you wake up tomorrow morning, it will be like oh, was it just 67 degrees yesterday? because it is not more. it is going to be only in the 20's and 30's by tomorrow afternoon. temperatures plummeting, in fact, in the poconos, the high on sunday is 13 degrees. and here in philadelphia, no better than the 20's, let's take a look outside. seeing the last of the rain, start to push through. we take you to up bethlehem. see the more moravian star in the distance, roads very, very wet. rain pushes up through the lehigh valley tonight. we will see yet another round of this rain before we move out. bethlehem is included in a winter weather advisory. as there could be some freezing rain overnight, and into early tomorrow morng beach. it is foggy and damp. see how wet the boardwalk s see the fog shrouding the lights as the system finally starts to wind down just a bit but still have several hours to go with it.

this is a very large storm. you can see this area of rain, very heavy, lifting through portions of northern virginia, that's still yet to come through. then snow is breaking out on the back se of this storm. so right now there is a little bit after break in the action. steady rain moved through around 9:00 or so. now, little bit after break. then another round of it, comes through about 2:00 a.m. temperatures now see the cold air just poised to move in. still warm. sixty-two in the city. sixty-two in trenton. 59 degrees down in mill individual. we zoom out, look at all of this cold air waiting in the wings. it is in the 20's in atlanta. birmingham, nashville, 20 in columbus, and look at this cold, below zero right now in minneapolis, and in bismarck. so what to expect, we go through about midnight, still dry, little in the action gwyn around midnight. take the dog out for one lasts trip outdoors before bed, that will be a good time to do it. >> but because by 2:00 a.m., heavy rain moves through, that pushes out, and you can see the ice and freezing rain up through the lehigh valle and

the poconos by 5:00 a.m. twenty's already in mount pocono. thirty-four in allentown, by 6:00 a.m. already dropping into the 30's here in philadelphia. and through the afternoon temping no better than the upper 20's or low 30's. how much ice are we talking? well, for mount pocono that's the area where the situation could be most dangerous, with as much as .3 of an inch, enough to cause very slick roadways, as well as perhaps even downed tree branches, very light glaze possible in the lehigh valley. and berks cntup in that area. but it is mainly for the poconos, cold air filters in, and some accumulating ice is possible, that winter weather advisory goes until 10:00 a.m. >> then it clears out, the sun will be out tomorrow afternoon but take a look at how cold it is going to be. lots of layers for that eagle game. 31 degrees at kick-off. the breeze will make it feel about 5 degrees colder than that. and by the end of the game, we will be down in the 20's, so unfortunately we couldn't get that mild air to hang around for just one more day.

whatever the temperature is at midnight, will likely be tomorrow's high in the record books, and then temps drops through the afternoon. sunday, monday, the cold settles in, dry and sunny, watching clipper tuesday and wednesday. which could bring the chance for some light snow, still little bit after merky outlook next week, as far as the timing of that snow, but that's the time frame to keep in theack of your head. >> got it. >> all right. >> thanks, kate. leslie up next with sport. >> and we have philly hoops coaching legend, speedy morris entering an exclusive club. and talk, game less than 24 hours al, malcolm jenkins has cents three words that will do it, sport is
