>> i'm jessica dean. this is a slow-moving system and it is expected to drop measurable snow. meteorologist kate bilo is tracking the timing of it and what you can expect where you live. kate? >> it really depends where you live with this one. because if you're in the poconos or the lehigh valley, you may wake up to snow tomorrow morning. if you're in the city and points south and east, likely not to see know until wednesday morning. that's how long this system is going to take. here's what it looks like, clouds over philadelphia, you can see the snow starting to break out back towards state college, up towards williamsport and eventually that first batch of shores will get into the poconos. it's more of this frontal boundary that's going to move through late tomorrow and into wednesday. right now the temperature is 29 degrees. the winds have died down. that means it feels basically like what the thermometer tells you. and here comes the stats on our next system. this is going to start to move through tomorrow. but then a coastal piece is

going to really start to interact with the advancing frontal boundary and that's what's going to pull it through our region, the city and surrounding suburbs, early on wednesday before moving out quickly. it's a slow-moving cold front associated with the clipper. the greatest impacts are wednesday morning for philadelphia but the highest snow amounts are north and west. here's what the first little batch of this looks like by 9:00 a.m. it is snowing lightly in the poconos and the northern lehigh valley but notice we get toward 5:00 tomorrow and it's still not north and west. the areas to see the longest duration of snow are under a winter weather advisory. it starts at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow goes until 6:00 a.m. on wednesday. more than 24 hours. the poconos, lehigh valley, upper bucks, montgomery and west chester counties. coming up i'll show you our latest snow map and we'll time out the steadiest snow for the

community and which commutes will be impacted. >> area rivers are jammed with ice and in some cases it's causing flooding. take a look at the delaware river near trenton from chopper 3. you see it is simply full of chunks of ice. recent warm temperatures and rain led to ice breaking up and flowing down the river and as a result of all the ice, water from the river has now overflowed and is frozing on route 29. many came out to get a look for themselves. >> crazy. it's almost as bad as 95. 95 it was a lot worse. >> 1995? >> yeah. >> there were chunks out on the road on the pennsylvania side. >> that water is eventually expected to recede. >> the eagles are getting ready for their battle against the minnesota vikings.

the nfc championship game is the hottest ticket in town. david spunt is live with more on just how hard it is to score seats. david? >> reporter: if you want a good seat, itsds going to be difficult to do that because season ticket holders and tickets that the eagles hold for vips, tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. when these tickets go on sale at ticketmaster, it is going to be slim picins. it's eagles all the time inside wanamaker. >> people come from all over. we've had calls obviously minnesota, florida. >> reporter: paul bought wanamaker entertainment years ago. he doesn't work for ticketmaster but he's a master when it comes to getting tickets. >> times have changed. >> meaning the ticket prices continue to go up and fast. right now some of the cheapest tickets are going for at least $500. >> i told my son that an nfc championship game is better than

a super bowl. >> reporter: eagles fan allen won't be on ticketmaster and he has a method for securing nfc tickets. >> i'm waiting and i'm paying face value or a little over face value for a great ticket that i just waited until a couple of hours before kickoff to buy. >> reporter: but this time things are different, so he came to wanamaker entertainment to buy directly from paul. >> my problem is i have a business client who wants to fly in from minnesota with his wife. we spoke this morning. if he's making the trip, i've got to have a ticket for him. i can't afford to play that game with this game. >> reporter: but if you're desperate and want to see the game in person, you can always get on ticketmaster in the morning and role the dice. >> i believe there will be single tickets, single standing room tickets, there may be some pairs out there. it will be very few and far between. >> reporter: you could always use another third-party site. the biggest thing make sure you don't get ripped off.

and coming up in sports eagles head coach doug -- dug son. >> a flat bed truck smashes into a home with a couple inside. tonight we're hearing from the homeowner. he talked with our alexandria hoff. alex? >> reporter: crews have been working all evening long to secure this home at the same time the couple who was inside at the time of this crash has had to find somewhere else to stay. >> i don't believe it. what the heck happened. >> reporter: from the inside of this piles grove home, it sure looks like an explosion occurred, and for the husband and wife at home at the time, it sounded like one too. >> i thought a bomb blew up. i called 911 and said there was

an explosion. >> reporter: steven spent 37 years as a philadelphia police officer. in that time he says he doesn't remember responding to a vehicle into a building but that day finally arrived, right into his own formal living room. >> my sister called me. >> what did she say? >> she said a tractor-trailer is in front of mommy and daddy's house. >> reporter: after learning that their parents were not injured, the family found out that a flatbed truck had barreled out of control around 2:30 p.m. following a collision with a car. >> one patient from the passenger vehicle was injured and flown from the scene. >> reporter: both the truck driver and a passenger in the second car were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. the truck traveled nearly 300 yards before striking the home and a room that steven says he hardly ever went in. >> a sofa and chairs and tables in there that i have never sat my back side on. >> reporter: the home may have suffered damage, but according

to daughter donna. >> thank god my parents are okay. >> thank goodness for that. and state police are investigating the crash from up the road that led to this. >> all right alex. thanks so much. authorities in california say an emaciated teen led them to a disturbing discovery. a home where her 12 brothers and sisters were chained to beds. the parents are expected to face charges including torture and child endangerment. they were arrested yesterday at their home east of los angeles. officials say the girl who managed to escape and call 911 was 17, but appeared to be 10 years old because of her poor condition. deputies assumed the other 12 children were all juveniles but seven are actually adults ranging from 18-29. >> today thousands of people across our region spent martin

we are watching for the next round of winter weather. kate is tracking a system that is expected to bring us some snow starting tomorrow. what you can expect for where you live coming up in just a few minutes. officials in hawaii say an employee has been reassigned after mistakingly hitting the live alert button. that blunder on saturday caused more than a million people to fear they were about to be struck by a nuclear missile. officials also say they've changed protocols to require two people to send an alert and made it easier to cancel a false alarm. that process took about 40 minutes on saturday. mistake or no mistake, it begs the question what should you do if you get an alert like than one sent out in hawaii.

temperatures. but we ares a t also some light snow over the next couple of days. the good news is we do have a bit of a as we move toward the 7-day. but let's start off with the ne outside, it's not as cold as last night, it is chilly but seaso s coldest part of the year. it's just a little cold with in overnight. here comes our next system andv well-organized system. usually when we talk about a clipper welob of snow that moves quickly through the region. his is more of a frontal aligned right along this boundary and extends all the way down portions of the deep south of the lower mississippi valley and enough for snow as this system moves in. it's 29 in millville, 27 in allentown and a cold 16 in mount pocono. it's betten over the weekend. we'll drop to about 27 in the

city overnightly cd and mainly cloudy sky for us, and tomorrow in the city at dry. it is a cloudy day, 37 degrees, average for this time of the year. snow to the northwest and that's going to be ongoing for much ti by frame, hour by hour. 9:00 a.m. it'st pocono, likely allentown and reading. it kind of backs off a little fbi through the day north and west. it's intermittent light snow southeast there may be sunshine midday. 5:00 p.m., still snowing north and west. philadelphia. same story, 7:00 p.m. and we get all the way to midnipitatio all. but then we start to see that coastal low. so what happens is that'swoihe . you can almost see it start to rotate in 5:00 wednesday morning it is snowing steadily in philadelphia and that will continue through the remainder of the morning commute and continue right through about

9:00 or 10:00 a.m. before it moves off the coast. so what to expect as far as start times. early tuesday morning in the poconos, midday in the lehigh valley and points north west. in the city and suburbs it's not until after midnight and delaware and new jersey it's wednesday morning. 3-6 inches mount pocono, reading, allentown because it's going to be snowing for a longer amount of time. in the city of philadelphia 1-3, likely closer to about 2 inches in philadelphia and a coating to an inch at best for portions of south jersey and delaware. here is the good news. once we get through this next little system, the problem is it's right through the wednesday morning commute. there could be school delays and a few slowdowns wednesday. then the sun returns and the temperatures start to rise. 47 by saturday. 53 by the eagles game on sunday and 60 by monday. so it's not all bad. >> higher. >> keep it going. we didn't see tuesday. you don't know. it could be 65. >> it could be. >> all right, don is up next

well the nfc championship game is set. it features two teams with backup quarterbacks. two teams that won this weekend with dramatic plays in the final seconds. the eagles using some tenacious d to fight off matt ryan and the falcons on fourth down late in the game. their 5-point win sends them to the nfc title game since 2009. the vikings are here for the first time since 2000. i still can't believe this play! d doug pederson puts sunday's game into perspective.

students at lee elementary school in west philadelphia where i went through sixth grade will notice something a little different. >> it's all thanks to brotherly love by children's hospital of philadelphia. they spent the holiday making repairs, cleaning the schools as part of their mlk day service project. chop employees also took part in other projects across the city.
