right any at 11:00 winter isn't taking a break, snow is falling in lehigh county and this is a live look at the conditions in allentown, from the cbs-3 mobile weather watcher. and here in the philadelphia area the snow has not started yet so crews are using this time to get salt trucks ready to roll in time for morning commute. storm scan three shows us where snow is falling right now, you can see it moving closer to the city this storm is all about the timing, expect a slow go as you head out tomorrow morning. good evening i'm jessica dean. i'm ukee washington. there are several school

delays already for the morning and they are at bottom of the screen. we have live team coverage of the latest round of snow. lets start with meteorologist kate bilo tracking where and when the heaviest snow will fall, kate. >> we have been saying this storm has been for our far north and western suburbs where winter weather advisories and storm warnings are in effect. i will show you those in a moment but snow is still, off to the north and west but start to go permeate just slightly a little further south and to the east. you can see right now a mixture of upper bucks, montgomery counties and chester county. that is because temperatures got in the 40's and still in many spots above freezing. this will start as a lit will rain, perhaps mixing with snow and because temperatures are still relatively warm this will likely melt, on contact when it hits road at first. we are not expecting road to be terrible like they have been with previous storms and, of course we have salt trucks as we have mentioned out treating things getting ready for morning commute. steady snow up across poconos,

lehigh valley. you can see darker purple shading around lehigh, down into portions of berks county where some of the heavier snow has fallen thus far. we have a winter weather advisory northwestern half of our viewing area, upper bucks, montgomery counties, western chester and up in the lehigh valley and berks county a winter storm warning for poconos where it has been snowing intermittently on and off all day and will continue overnight and tomorrow morning and some spots could end up as much as 6 inches of snow there future weather shows by about 2:00 a.m. we will see the mixture change over to some snow here in philadelphia, and between two and 7:00 is when we will get our snow in the city. i will start as rain down the shore. eventually mixed with and change over to snow for vast majority of the region. here's 5:00 a.m. 6:00 a.m. still snowing but by seven or 8:00 this is starting to wind up and work its way out of here. we are looking at an inch in philadelphia, perhaps a coating in south jersey and delaware as much as 3 inches in the north and western suburbs and possibly, as high

as 6 inches before all is said and done in the poconos, and coming up we will talk more about your travel, issues, for tomorrow, and we have got some good news in the wake of the storm, a warm up in the seven day forecast, we will that have for you as well, jessica. >> all right, thank you. road crews say they are ready for this latest blast of winter. david spunt is live at penndot yard in norristown where there has been a lot of activity tonight, david. >> reporter: temperatures have started to drop here in the last hour, we're starting to see precipitation really within the last five minutes or so. now this salt barn behind me back in november that thing was full, you could not even walk inside. you can see it has been a fairly busy season because that salties being depleted but that does not matter because crews are ready for whatever happens, tomorrow. hours before snow moved in, drivers in montgomery county were running last minute errand, snow is expected to fall in philly's northwestern counties and suburbs, beginning after midnight. >> not a big deal it is

january, it is supposed to snow. otherwise how will we get ski resorts snow they need. >> reporter: penndot officials have no choice but to stay busy. crews with the agency had 450 trucks and plows, and dumped salt on the roadways on tuesday. officials called this winter a busy one. >> we have had about seven or eight or nine events where we have dispatched trucks and used salt. we are getting a number of events back to back. so starting to take a toll on our supply. >> reporter: penndot is expect to replenish their salt supply when needed, back in philadelphia, crews are also taking care of the road, and will be out, overnight. >> today, temperatures hit 40, and it is not really supposed to drop, too far below freezing tonight, we figure that the salt will be enough with the warm temperatures of the roadway. >> reporter: speaking of the roadways some plan to avoid them tomorrow, completely. >> probably work from home, stay off the road and make it safer for everybody. >> reporter: penndot crews

"eyewitness news". >> i want to talk about that pizza that looked good. limited number of tickets for sunday's eagles game sold out almost immediately this morning so philadelphia police are warning fans about ticket scammers. pope lease department launched a specialized, june to it but scammers selling fraudulent ticket largely happens in one of two ways. the first criminals duplicate bar code from legitimate tickets, that excited fans post on line, on social media the other is a bogus made, counterfeit ticket. coming up in sports eagles are just 60 game minutes away at the chance of becoming world champions but coming up hear from the players at how they are approaching sunday's match up against the vikings, that is later in sports. the results are in from president trump's first presidential physical, in the white house, doctors said that the president is fit for duty. doctor ronnie jackson released details this afternoon. physical shows president trump is in excellent health, physically and cognitively.

here's a live look from our mobile weather watcher. snow is falling in the allentown region. if you have to go out please take it slow. kate's tracking this latest round of winter weather. her full forecast is coming up in just a few minutes. there is a new device police departments are considering using, called text izer. >> law enforcement says it would crackdown on distract driving, but some feel like it is an invasion of privacy. nicole brewer joins us to explain how it works, and if everyone here wants to know how it works. >> yes, i mean it is really a big problem, right? this whole texting and driving according to the national highway traffic safety administration, it is six times more dangerous then driving under the influence. well, now local and state officials are introducing a new tool, in an effort to stop it. you have heard of a breathizer , what about a text izer.

>> i have not, no. >> reporter: device which detects smart phone activity resembles an ipad and plugs directly into your smart phone and could help law enforcement determine distracted driving after an accident. >> not a bad idea. >> that could be a good thing. >> reporter: new jersey is among handful of states considering high tech tool and this week chicago could be the first city to pass legislation >> may not be a bad pilot, and perhaps a deterrent. >> i don't think would i like that. i feel like it is very invasive. >> reporter: manufacturer insist the device does not extract personal information, while alerting officers to phone activity. >> we don't need to know what i'm saying to somebody while operating the law. you just need to know i'm breaking the law. >> reporter: not everyone is buying it including american civil liberties union. >> you are allowing an intrusion into much of your personal life, and, all of this is being done, on the street, without any warrant, without any judicial oversight >> often there is a good solution that is in the middle

>> reporter: still question remains will it help save lives by forcing drivers to think twice, before picking up the phone. >> there could be, that positive effect, on, deterrent >> just like red light cameras people are more vigilant now. >> people will still be on their phone. >> he will do it anyway. >> reporter: now, i mentioned legislation in chicago. city down council's public safety committee asked chicago police to examine the device and full council vote is scheduled for this week. it is moving forward but still a lot of questions a lot of questions. >> technology prompts those questions. >> yes, it does. investigators in montgomery county of released a sketch of an allege sexual predator. this is suspect want forward rape of the woman in norristown farm park last august. investigators say that the computer generated image was created by dna evidence left behind by the suspect. the process is called dna fino typing.

7:00 is the main crux of the snowstorm here in philadelphia but it is already snowing and snowing at a pretty good clip in our far north and western suburbs, areas that will see the most, in terms of accumulation with this storm. lets go up to the poconos. quick look, first and foremost jack frost big boulder where snow is coming down pretty steadily right now. it has been snowing on and off all day long but this is heaviest we have seen so far and i also want to take to you bethlehem northampton county which is seeing snow now, as well, you can see a coating, and looking slushy on the road there on main street and everything is getting white, by the minute, and it looks like it will continue to snow there, through at lee, the next, four to six hours, possibly even into the early morning hours, seven or 8:00 o'clock. slow your roll. watch out. if you are out there it looks like the carriesing pretty good on main street but road are getting covered especially these side streets. i want to take to you our live neighborhood network at pleasant valley high school in broad headville where snow is

falling. it is stuff to see but you can see in the streetlights there the snow is coming down pretty steadily. 29 degrees there. now this system extend all the way from new england right on down toward new orleans where snow is working its way in to southern lou san, these areas, not used to seeing this kind of snow, down south, but for us, it is a run of the mill storm. it may extort ought as a little bit of ray -- rain or mix but it is picking up over upper bucks and montgomery counties areas included in the winter weather advisory. but looking weak in the southern even. some that means south of philadelphia areas and south jersey may not see quite as much snow. so far though we have had almost 3 inches in effort a in monroe county, slating ton, already seeing 2.3. new tripoli, 1.5 inches. just shy of an inch in reading lehigh valley international is clocked in .3 so far but we will be add to go that total. we are doing so right now. here's the problem. temperatures are still above freezing. so a lot of this will melt on

contact and ratio vice slow with this storm. that will keep our amounts low as well. thirty-nine in philadelphia. and 41 in reading. this is not an impressive total, it is just more of a timing type storm. overnight snow starts to work its way n here's 3:00 a.m. starts snowing steadily around philadelphia starts as rain down the shore. and then changes over to snow every where. here's 6:00 a.m., still snowing, continuing, into about 8:00 a.m. before it pushes out. not much in the way of accumulation over south jersey and delaware n fact some spots may not see any snow at all. but between, now and 2:00 a.m. that is when the snow is pushing south 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. that mixture to a period of snow and after 7:00 o'clock tomorrow morning, the snow will taper quickly, so, we've gonna head and given you yellow light for overnight commute. mixture to some snow. morning commute will be slippery, snow falling but your afternoon commute looking fine with breaks of sunshine. once we get this storm out of here we will go from wintry to warm, and go from the 30's all the way to the 40's on friday

and then into the 50's, by sunday, the weekend looking pretty fantastic. so, again, it is just overnight into early tomorrow morning, many spots wake up to snow, you need to brush off cars, looking at an inch of accumulation in the city and then much better weather taking us through the weekend but of course like you said this isn't an accumulation storm but timing storm and our morning team will go on early at 4:00 a.m. meteorologist katie fehlinger and matt peterson will have all of the details to get you through the morning. >> team he effort, thanks, katie. >> don with sports up next. >> jj not having a good time, reddick will miss time with an injury, talking sixers. vikings defense is scary, a scouting report from the eagles sports coming up next.
