city make that explaining what this means for philadelphia, as it now finds itself on a list of the top 20 finalists for amazon, hq2. now, that news came out 9:00 sharp this morning, from amazon seattle headquarters. let me show you the list of top 20 contenders. with philadelphia we find many of the usual suspects, there is boston, new york, atlanta, two locations in the washington dc metro pittsburgh rally north carolina chicago toronto and the list goes on. la is the loan west coast city as you can imagine the competition is stiff. philadelphia submitted it 100 page pitch to amazon in late october. supreme courts of businesses and educational leaders along with public officials encourage amazon to consider philly's prime geographic location, it is rail and transportation network pimpled locations of university city, directly related to the area around

30th street station and the navy yard in south philadelphia. the city also highlighted everything from cellar connective at this, the cost of living in town advances cents to its access the higher learning colleges and educational facility. now, mayor jim kenney released this statement. it reads and i quote philadelphia inclusion in amazon top 20 potential locations for hq2 is exciting milestone for the city. we are thrilled at today's announcement and look forward to working with amazon's team on the next step of this process to further highlight all that philadelphia has to offer. now, amazon's hq2 is expected to employ upward of 50,000 people. that also includes a $5 billion investment in which ever region it chooses. the the news conference sill going on behind me, commerce director fielding questions we will have the latest on this very big news story for philadelphia and the region

specially with fresh snow pack virtually blinding sunlight. now, we start things off with a quick look at storm scan, which is totally devoid of any storms right now empty and clear, and stays that way for the long hall actually. this is a pretty tranquil pattern we're entering into, and a pattern change we deserve if you ask me. currently feels like values for the most pat in the teens and lower 20's, definitely colder up in the mountains but the ski resort love picking up all of the snow that they saw from yesterday. so even despite the chill that's currently out there suspicion that a lot of people will be hitting the slept here specially come the next few days meantime expecting highs to mid mid 30's from the shore up to the city and surrounding vicinity mid 20's for you up in the mountains. but, as we've been saying, the rumors are true, nice warming trends is in store for us. so little later in the show i'll let you know about when we reach the 50's and how long that stretch is going to last us not just one day and we'll also of course have that all important eagles kick off forecast for you too. guys? >> all right katie see you

soon thank you. and other news this noon, us marshall has been killed in a police involved shooting in harrisburg. two other officers were also injured. the shots were fired around 6:00 this morning on 17th and mulberry streets now, so far we do not know exactly what sparked the shooting, what we do know is that us marshall task force was serving arrest warrant when the gunfire broke out. >> we're conducting a large scale investigation at the scene and there are multiple agencies involved. there is no current danger to the public. the person who used that force is not at >> the extent of the officers injuries unknown at this time. >> well, nine people hurt while escaping overnight house fire in upper chichester delaware county. the fire broke out in the basement after home on rodney avenue around 4:00 this morning. authority tell "eyewitness news" that all of the victims went to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. firefighters battled flames, and cold conditions. >> it is what we train to do. we train to do this, and any type of weather. so whether it is cold, whether it is hot we'll dot

crews say minimal risk of home sliding but no one is allowed in or out for now. firefighters found lot of water when they inspected the area determining whether it is from rain water or possibly faulty sprinkler system. authority spent the morning removing passenger plane from embankment. rescue crews on stand biases a large crane lifted the boeing 737 up the slopes. that plane skidded off a runway this after landing in northern turkey last weekend. came to rest, just meters from the black sea pilots told investigators that a sudden surge of speed in the plane's right engine forced it to swerve left. 168 people were on board but no one was hurt. well a tony award winning musical is back in philadelphia. >> ♪ ♪ >> ♪ ♪ >> and less ms. one of the longest running musicals in the world coming up next one of the stars of the beloved production right here in the studio and from philly. >> ♪ ♪ >> ♪ ♪

12.9 inches thus far, for the city anyway, for the season. now, january we had 4 inches that had fallen so far. but, still a lot of winter let see how we do here. but, yes yesterday's system not that impressive. ended up with .2 of an inch. up at jack frost a very stark gradient that crossed our area here with that front and this is all that's left of it at this point. and we even had still lingering snow off the virginia coastline early this morning, all making its exit. high pressure settling in. and it is setting up shop. i mean, it is actually very quiet, across the vast majority of the us here, too, so you still actually have snow still on the ground as far south as places cents like louisianna alabama mississippi not very much. but that gave you idea just the extent of the frontal boundery. all the way down, it even into the gulf of mexico with it energy so it really did bring about some very, very cold air , which is still in place

for the rest every today. but with time, with high pressure now in place, you are going to see the wind turn southerly, will allow the temperatures to begin their rebound, while today is cold, tomorrow is a lot more seasonable saturday, is about 10 degrees above that's a theme for us right through the weekend. so this is nice news. if you au have got plans to be out tailgating walking around the city public crawl perhaps something like that between quarters, whatever your thing is, itontinue even into monday. but there is a new disturbance that starts to move in. by that point. here is a look though at current temperatures low 30's, philly down to wilmington, perhaps the you ends up into the mid 30's here, that's the best you can hope for though for the rest of the day pretty cold out there. thankfully the worse of the wind starting to ease up as we mentioned but show you the wind speeds in a second. sun glare that's like there is yes, breitbart blue sky and sunshine but snow pack. and specially for the afternoon, evening rush, when maybe, you're going to run into some pretty wick sun glare. be ready for tha watching us from the office. winds speeds, still out there.igh as the teens or even the 20's, so
