"eyewitness news" reporter alicia live at lincoln financial field, the players and the fans making their final preparations at this hour. alicia? >> reporter: well, right now it really feels like the calm before the storm. right now it is quiet out here but in just a few hours, we will start to see more than 60,000 people pack lincoln financial field, most of those people obviously will be loud eagles fans, but we will see a good number of viking fans, as we saw today, a lot of them were already in town. >> it is less than 24 hours until the nfc championship game. the minnesota vikings have arrived in philly. their fans are here, too. a crowd of them welcomed viking players and team staff as they checked into a center city hotel. >> i think the vikings got the advantage. i think we have the better defense. >> new to philly viking fans seem to be quick to predict minnesota win at the linc tomorrow. >> i'm sure it will be a big

cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> all right, alicia, thank you so much. well, everyone all pumped up ahead of the big game at the linc tomorrow night. leslie is joining us now with a look at how quarterback back nick foles is really preparing for his next move at this point. he had a big day today? >> big day. i'm thinking this bodes well for tomorrow. >> yes, it is his birthday, nick foles is turning 29, and the perfect gift for nick and the eagles and of course the fans will be a win against the vikings tomorrow, and a trip to the superbowl. last saturday against the falcons, he went 23 tore 30, for 246 yards. no touchdowns, but did he make some key throws to keep drives alive. he had struggled going into last week's game, and doug pederson told him to just be nick foles. >> so has the message changed for tomorrow's game? >> no, no, the message is the same, feed off of last week obviously, you know, different set of challenge, different teams, different defense, all of that, but just, you know, don't go -- don't have to force anything.

the federal government ran out every monday i at midnight on friday, negotiations to pass a new spending bill have stalled at the moment. cbs news correspondent mola lenghi has more. >> day one of the government shutdown and no ends in site. >> we will be right back at this tomorrow and for as long as it takes. >> the next vote isn't schedule until 1:00 a.m. monday but it won't include anything on immigration. >> whether they reopen the government. >> the latest proposal to funds the government for three more weeks, in exchange for a guaranteed vote in the senate on daca. >> program that allows undocumented ingram to work and lift in the u.s. but democrats worried the bill will then die in the house. >> give us a vote in the senate. and guarantee us a vote in the house. >> if you have a vote in the senate, it means absolutely nothing. because you have stalemate.

>> lawmakers spent more time saturday blaming each other in the shutdown than they spent negotiate to go end the stalemate. >> this is the trump shutdown. >> senator schumer made the decision. >> outside the capitol, voters are blaming both sides. >> stop throwing grenades at each other. and just, you know, talk. >> i can't take my youth group to the statue of liberty to ellis island, because the government is acting like a bunch of big babies? a shame. act being like what? i would say adolescent, but that's insult to go adoloscents. >> until a deal is reached, the government will remain closed. mola lenghi, for cbs-3, " eyewitness news." well, also, new tonight, the search is on for the gunman who shot and killed a 24 year old man in north philadelphia. police say the victim was hit seven times, shooting happened in the 3300 block of smedley street. just after 4:00 this afternoon there is no word on what led to the shooting. police have not yet released a description of the gunman in this case. and investigators have identified the officer and the gunman involved in a police shooting in kensington last

saturday. authorities say officer jason read shot stephen crawly of edgewater park after he pulled a semiautomatic pistol from his waistband. the shooting happened on the 28 h.u.p. block every kensington avenue. crawl any critical condition now facing lengthy list of charges. motorists cents driving along southbound i95 near the girard avenue exit plotted a naked man walking along the shoulder of the road around noontime today. according to police, the man started throwing debris at cars. eventually officers did catch up with the man, they cuffed him, took him into custody immediately. luckily no one was injured during this very bizarre incident on 95 southbound today. >> all right, lauren, so i'm excited about the weather for tomorrow's big game. i think that's good news for us. >> i think it is good news for us, and statistic i cannily, it is good news for us, so we will talk about that, i think warmth might favor the eagles, got little sports going on, leslie. >> we're taking leslie, yes,

awesome, 57 degrees our high temperature. 17 degrees above our average. we started off at 29 degrees, this morning, and the city now lit up in eagles green as we get live look. temperatures have cooled quite efficiently, down to 36, little windchill impact southwest winds at around 6 miles per hour, so feeling more like 31, and temperatures generally in the 30's, across much of the area. forty-one in trenton, down to 32 millville, 34 degrees in allentown, but the trends will be specially over the next 24 hours, for lighter wind speeds , not going to be dealing with breezy conditions tomorrow for the game. wind speeds right now generally the calm to light range at our reporting sites, and that will be the trend through the day tomorrow, as well, wind speeds just around five, maybe 10 miles per hour throughout the game. storm scan3 showing us quiet conditions right now, just couple of passing clouds, we get more active, though, as we led into next week, fast forward into tuesday. our next best chance of rain this will be late monday night into tuesday. and it will be all rain.

no snow threat with temperatures in the upper 50's , very mild, rain though could be heavy at times, even chance for an isolated thunderstorm, producing some gusty winds. so future weather showing us as we head into the day tomorrow, no problems for the game, cloudy conditions, but staying mainly precipitation free headed into monday night. we could see the chance of an isolated sprinkle. and as we head through our monday, have the chance of isolated sprinkle. then as we head into monday night, tuesday, notice that rain advancing west to east across the area. with a strong cold front, we could see heavy pocket every rain even isolated thunderstorm, the rain continues to move across the area as we head throughout tuesday. you will need that umbrella on stand by for that second day of the work week. but overnight end, partly cloudy, quiet, low temperature at 34 degrees, so not too cold and definitely not too cold by january standards tomorrow. increase in clouds, high temperature at 50 degrees, light wind speeds, not too much after windchill. up to 55 on monday, chance of few sprinkles, wettest day will be on tuesday.

welcome back everyone, couple from lakeview new york is crediting their pitbull for saving their thrives, ruby the pitbull doesn't bark very often. so, when she wouldn't stop barking, for more than an hour and a half on thursday night, her owners new something was very wrong. ruby took the couple downstairs, and out to their gate, and as it turns out, a propane heater in their basement was leaking carbon monoxide. >> a dog typically are pretty, intuitive. i believe that breed is even more so with all of the reserve that much i've done, and, yes, i think that's that was it. hands down. >> ruby very, very smart there ruby is a trained therapy dog, but doesn't have rescue training. her owners say everything she did that night came from pure inch sting. we'll be right

(seagulls calling) (elevator bell dings) he busy? he's in with garrett. good. he should be in on this, too. sorry to interrupt. i just learned that a dozen candidates in the current class of cadets cheated on the psych exam. who cheats on a psych exam? these guys. no, i meant why. trying to find that out. what's their status now? they're in the process of being gone. you're either gone or you're not. apparently, their recruit discipline officer knew about it, but declined to take action. it only came to light when some of the other cadets learned of it. there's no right or wrong answers on a psych evaluation. well, the fact remains they cheated. they were coached on what to click-- yes or no. i'm not seeing what's not cut-and-dried about this. the dozen cheaters, they're all ex-military. seven army, five marines. all military? as far as i know. so i know it's a tough call, but there's still only one call.
