>> surprise appearance that had people talking. katie tracking more than one chance every snow this >> today is monday, january 29th, good i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. meisha is live inin festivities. good morning. >> reporter: hey, good morning , guys, i sure a.m. i friday. eagles players arrived at the minneapolis .yesterday. this morning so far we were showing you nicolet mall, which is downtown minneapol actually, where i am right now downtown minneapolis, but we came about a block away to the minneapolis convention center. you can see it lit up behind me in purple. >> obviously we know the viking colors but also prince, as well, and inside the convention center, they're calling that the super bowl experience, because, it is an nfl experience like no where else, you guys, there is so many things you can do in
6:01 am
there from inter-active virtual attractions, you can take pictures the of the lombardi trophy still there, up right now for all of the fans to actually see. they've got little stations set up where the whole family can come and actually test their skills of running and throwing that spiral, and i don't think there is any tackling, but let's say but all every these stations set up where you can test your skills and plus you guys what also is really cool is there is nfl players around signing autographs, talking to fans, so this really is, you know, we talk about the big game coming up sunday. but this is really about the fan experience, as well. the super bowl experience, everybody gets to see it, so much going on, talking about more of that coming up in a little bit. so stands by. katie, i'm going to go sends it back to you. >> yes, and meisha you look like a nanuka of the north out there in your big parka. i love it. good luck. and we just check, it is cents
6:02 am
a mere 7 degrees my friend out in minneapolis right now. you have fun with that. >> poor thing. no where near that cold right now. i love it, though, because a lot of those experiences she is talking about, sounds a lot like what they had for the draft. so going out there, maybe you got some practice when the draft was here in philadelphia , and you can hone the fizzle. but talking weather. we do have a bit of wet weather rolling through the southern counties. philly won't get in on. >> this but notice, little bit of light to moderate rain the last few hours across cape may , sussex county, all starting to push out, then another round comes n so you may be stuck with that this morning in these areas. so disturbance basically grazing our region. forty-two the current temperature, 42, and yes, it is seven where poor meisha is standing out in the cold. so hopefully she has good pair of those hand warmers to put in her gloves. but yes, 42 here, not going to move too much on the thermometer in the course of the day, probably rebounds another five to 6 degrees or so in most spots, starting
6:03 am
offer essentially where you're at here today, most of the day stays very steady with these values. now, the kids going out to school, most of you are not going to require the umbrella, far south, perhaps, you do. but in philly, certainly, that's not a requirement. however, we did mention that s word, the possibility of snow is in our forecast on several occasions, i'll let you know when we expect that first rounds to come in coming up, guys. >> not just one but several. thank you, kate. the schuylkill expressway montgomery drive. traffic as you can see moving nicely here. and there is tree trimming scheduled today on the ramp from i76 eastbound to belmont avenue. one lane will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. >> and there are bridge inspections today on 95 southbound between allegheny avenue and the vine street expressway. left lane will be block from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. >> well the eagles have base week ahead of them leading to up super bowl sunday. >> be spending their time practicing and talking to the press before the big game. team arrived at minneapolis st. paul international airport
6:04 am
yesterday afternoon. despite the viking lost to the eagles in the nfc championship , actually quite a few eagles fans in minnisota many of people were hoping to get a glimpse. >> we lived in minnesota for the last 14 years, but never left my philly roots. i knew they were coming down. and just wanted to be a part of the excitement, see the guys get off the bus, give them a cheer. >> i know if the eagles play, like they did last sunday against the vikings, which i think they will, they're going to get it done. >> you heard her. and while the eagles have already checked into their hotel rooms the new england patriots are leaving gillette stadium this morning, they'll head to the providence dense airport for their flight to minneapolis. >> rain or shine eagles nation shows up. birds fans gave their team a proper send off yesterday at the nova care complex in south philadelphia. followed the eagles to the airport despite the crumby weather. fans said they were out there to show the birds that philadelphia has their backs. >> we wanted to be down thereto cheer the guys on. this is once in a lifetime opportunity for us. >> we casino every woke up this morning and said, you know what, let's go down, just
6:05 am
support a team. >> we are winning, okay? we are winning. this city closed down on monday. we are going. >> and the birds are expected to have their first practice in minneapolis tomorrow at the university of minnesota. >> and the eagles have landed and so has our very own meisha johnson. meisha back home in minneapolis this morning. >> yes, on the move, now joins us from the convention center where the super bowl tear genes is set up for fans, meisha, walk us through it. >> hey, guys. so, yes, welcome to my hometown. i got to tell you, minneapolis is really bringing their party skills. so they're hosting a big party , the super bowl experience, like rahel just pointed out, right inside that minneapolis convention center, which is just huge, inside of there, what they've done is they've set up all every these really cool different stations . >> so all aboute.
6:06 am
clearly fans can take pictures with the lombardi trophy, check it outee is all about then yngan test your throwing that spiral with the whole family. with your kids? this is definitely a place you f the inter-active stias to offer. by the way, something that also is really cool is there is actyays wandering around, signing autographs, talking to people, andou. this is all for the fans. and by the way, i katie and brig talking about that little earlier, very cold out. so this is casino every nice you have been walking around, in the nicolet mall. that's six blocks of calling super bowl live. that is actually where we were just little bit ago, standing outside, showing you some of the attractions that they have
6:07 am
on nicolet mall. the convention center here, where i'm standing in minneapolis, just a few blocks away. so, all of this is within walking distance around minneapolis. and again, it is all for the families. it is all for the fans coming out here. so, if you are coming out here , you slightly have to make it to the convention center, this is actually where you will put some of your skills to play. i have to tell you guys, i can throw a mean spiral. i don't know if any of you guys know that, but i can throw a real awesome spiral. so i think later on i have to go in there and put my skills to the test and play a little built of flag football with everybody, plus, i want to see that lombardi trophy. i've going to give it some good jew jew, some good luck to the birds. >> so the players closer to the mall of america. what is the distance between where you are and where they're staying? >> yes, so we're in the heart every downtown minneapolis right now. so bloomington, where the mall of america is, that's just
6:08 am
handful of miles, maybe 6 miles at maximum. maybe even less than 6 miles. it might even be more like four or so. so everyone is very, very close. but i actually have to say i'm kind of glad the players are staying out more by the mall of america, gives them a chance to get out of the downtown scene. because during the day, this place is absolutely packed with fans and families, because it is all free. so you can only imagine everybody is here in the downtown area and the players are a little closer to like you said the big mall of america, which that will be a little bit after safe haven for them to rest, recharge, get ready for the big game on sunday. i was actually at the mall of america yesterday and i was standing in line to pick up some media credentials, which by the way was super cool, the line was hundreds cents deep, but you could just feel the anticipation in the air. but it was also like quiet compared to what minneapolis feels like. >> all right. >> sounds good. >> thanks, meisha.
