12:07 pm
us at this point, when we look at storm scan three we are looking at three hour loop here that burst that we saw, or that was reflect in the video, that came through late in the morning, and we have a modest coating just on unpaved surface owes. cbs-3 sky deck ended up with light coating but it didn't manage to stick to the pavement. so sidewalks are fine, they were damp but we really did come out, without any kind of major headaches, thankfully. that of the would have been the spectation anyway. taking a look that is a sun desperately trying to bthrough t will have an opportunity to do so as the day goes on. you cannot quite see it now but difficult see even this, camera, shaking a little bit. you don't often see that with our sky scan three on our rooftop, it is well, secured, so, it is pretty rare that means the wind is really whipping out there at 21 miles an hour at the airport. these are sustain, not even accounting for gusts so it does feel colder, when you factor that in. in the meantime rest of the

day these cloud will break but temperature though that is only going to decline, we will level off, in the upper 20's for midday and later tonight it will continue to get colder and colder and then the wind is already obviously out there our actual air temperatures are are below freezing pretty much every where and we will get colder from here but take a lot minneapolis, yeah, all of those flights we were just talking about with david spunt , as those make their way to minneapolis the temperature is nearly 30 degrees colder and there is actually cold air reenforcement, charging in, to minnesota in the days ahead. that is the system that brings us our snow, this weekend. we will talk much more about that, time things out give you a sense of how cold it will get behind that here later in the show, jim. >> thanks, katie, it certainly feels and looks like winter with the snow falling but how many more weeks of winter are we in store for. punxsutawney phil came out this morning and made his predictions so did he see his shadow? find out next. plus chaos in the courtroom as father of three of the larry nassar's

12:16 pm
12:17 pm
12:18 pm
i see my royal shadow six more weeks of winter to go. >> and there he see it, the grace punxsutawney phil, has
12:19 pm
spoken, phil has declared six more weeks of winter at gobbler's knob. he has 131 predictions since 1886 forecasting an early spring only 18 times. he has only been correct about 39 percent of the time. >> i was watching this, this morning that poor phil was shaking. >> terrifying. >> the poor thing, i thought, yeah. >> yes. if you look at like really mad at this groundhog, really, really mad. >> but a couple things to keep in mind here for one thing the march equinox is basically exactly six weeks away from february 2nd. so calendar would tell you have year on as well you still have six more weeks of winter. it is a ground hog. it is a legend. no matter what he says things can change. owe has been only right 35 percent of the time. so lets keep that in mind and put things in perspective in that regard but there is still some opportunity, here for us to see, some very not just
12:20 pm
wintry precipitation but very cold air, and i mean current conditions are pretty much telling that story right now. lets look at sky scan three as we look outside place one apartments facing east here and on a very clear, bright, sunny afternoon you would be able to see philadelphia and sky line well off in the distance. it looks like you can make it out on the right-hand side of the screen there. there is sun trying to peak through this but it is still somewhat of a gray beginning to the afternoon. this should change this cloud deck will start to break apart with time and we will have more and more sunshine but live look at plymouth meeting, a gray beginning exactly at noon and that goes for all of us. lets touch back on this groundhog business, all right, putting things together for you, as legend goes when he sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of winter. that is what he did. out of the times he did though see, or at lee make a prediction, he overwhelmingly, has said, there would be more winter, once more he will have
12:21 pm
it anyway. another view of the city, closer 9 miles or so, in center city philadelphia this is our live nice hood network where the shot is being taken. you can even see views of sunshine coming through that cloud deck. that will continue to clear with time. keeping in mind that wind gusts or those wins are still gusting as high as 20's, the 30's, it is making it feel much colder anytime wind does blow. these are values hitting the road. this is what it feels like more like teens in most spots and, way colder in the mountains. we will have a good excuse to go skiing here, slopes will be empty, this weekend with a super bowl coming up but especially saturday looks good to hit the slopes. here once more that is batch of snow pushing through. minor coating we have on our sky deck and elsewhere, it is all lake enhanced that moisture getting pushed in from lake erie, ontario and surviving crossing the keystone state.
12:22 pm
that is in short where that came from but then that wind will not ease up until later on tonight and into tomorrow. then we will get the next storm that comes along this is the same disturbance that ushered in snow on saturday in minneapolis and really harsh cold behind it for minneapolis on sunday. now it does look as though it is a mixed event. perhaps a few snow showers early on but in the p.m. hours the bulk gets in here. so if you remember this is a, this is a model, it is not gospel but good idea of how this will all shake out. there will be likely a mixed bag. further south more likely it is just cold rain, further north you will see snow mixed in. then it makes its exit and it looks like the main front will break up before it crosses through here early machine morning. hopefully we will have wind under our belt by then. through rest of the afternoon these temperatures will drop off we are only in the mid up toker 20's for rest of the day along with our daytime high,
12:23 pm
around midnight. staying clear and colder tonight as we look forward though in the eyewitness weather seven day, ups and down that come along here nice and mild, for wednesday and ne by then, primarily, looking to bring some rain, but depending which model you go by there may be some wintry mix in that occurring there too depending on how cold abe quickly the cold air catches up to us but again, there is a pattern that is quite active in our area, with. phillies fanatic is green, all ready but now rocking this under dogmas being, the phillies posted with the caption who is ready for sunday, this guy, fly i like these yogurt bites.
