this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news." now, at noon, after a mild morning, temperatures are dropping again but not for long. we're in for a wild weather week that will include an early taste of spring. >> we're enjoying a winter warm up for the second week every february, good afternoon , i'm jim donovan. >> i'm jan carabeo, rahel solomon is off today. meteorologist, katie frail live on the cbs-3 skydeck this noon tracking a warm and possibly wet week. katie? >> yes, we've got few additional front that are going to work their way through, jan, in the next couple he will every days, just fitting right now on the

cbs-3 skydeck, i kept going back and forth putting my hood up, back down again, one of the situations where you don't need the umbrella but you feel drop. so i'll make this speedy so i can save the hairdo for later. we get you on taught what's going on with the flood warning, we had very heavy rain ons have youly in recent days, there is still flood warning present, and now extended until 1:00 p.m. wednesday. this is very hyper local, though, specific to the rancocas creek, at pemberton. now, that is expected to crest now little later than originally anticipated later on tonight. and it should be back to below flood stage, come wednesday afternoon. so, we will keep an eye on that in the next couple every days, but the one and only left over flood warning still in effect. currently rain actually just pick up again on the skydeck. so whether it comes back you'll see me with the hood back up again but few showers still moving on out. they're trying to make their exit, not quite gone yet. so, thankfully not the drenching rain of yesterday. but do you still have light to minorly moderate showers moving through, in pockets

across basically the southeast half of the delaware valley, from i95 on south and east, currently here at the broadcast center at 42, rather , at the airport, i should say, at 42 degrees, similar values though here from our own bug that you see in the lower right corner every your screen, temperatures have take answer hit. now we will level off at these values, basically, for the rest of the day. later on tonight skies clear out those temperatures drop off heck of a lot more readily and more leastly, so back to reality for now. but again, this is the one dose here in the next few days , that we will see february-like conditions, the next five days are going to see a lot of ups and down and again there are days coming up here that feel much more like spring, so here is the hood. people equate me to lion king when i wear this, regardless little wet weather still out out there guys and more on the docket. i'll let you now. >> katie, thank you, deadly flew season on having devastating effect, officials say the number every people hospitalized is reaching record territory.

getting sick, researchers from columbia university are recommending hospitals use special ultraviolet light panels, the lamps can kill the virus while still remaining safe around people. and at washington regional medical center in arkansas, uv robots are already being used to sterilize patient rooms. >> it is an added layer of protection for our patient to ensure that they have the safest place they can come. >> researchers are constantly examining new ways to combat the flu. a japanese drug maker says it has developed a pill that can kill the virus within a day. but until that is approved for use here in the u.s. the flu vaccine and washing your hands remain the best lines of defense. doctor karen, cbs news, new york. in other news this noon, emergency workers in russia spent the day combing through snowy fields for debris from an airline their went down on sunday. investigators are still trying to determine whether twin engine jets crashed just minute after taking off from moscow. all 71 people on boards were killed. authority say the pilots

didn't report any problems beforehand but there are questions about whether the planes had been properly de- iced. investigators are looking into deadly crash after helicopter in the grand canyon the tourist chopper crashed on saturday night, killing three british tourists and sending four other people to the hospital. it took eight hours to air lift the survivors due to strong winds and rugged terrain. it is still too early to determine what caused the crash. this was the fourth fatal accident for the company that was operating the helicopter. >> check this out, a huge explosion is caught on camera, on a highway in northern china that truck on the right of your screen was filled with lick philadelphia international airport natural gas. and investigators say a leak probably sparked the explosion now, two people inside the truck are being treated for burns, three other vehicles nearby also caught fire. the people inside of those cars escaped unharmed. >> and there is hope for winter olympics may lead to better relations between north and south korea. athlete from the rival nations are competing under one

unified flag, and north korea president sent his sister as part of his country's delegation. now she returned home yesterday. but not before telling south korea's president that her brother want to host a summer zero it with him, could potentially lead to the first meeting of korean leaders in more than a decade. >> president trump just wrapped up meeting with a group of governors and mayors at the white house. he's looking to build support for his newly-released infrastructure proposal. the plan seeks one point a trillion dollars in spending over decade. to rebuild the nation's roads, highways and airport. only $200 million of that money would come from direct federal spending. the rest of the money would come from state and local governments, and the private sector. the president's infrastructure plan is major come pope end of his 4 trillion-dollar budget for next year, spending proposal arrived on capitol hill this morning. it includes a $23 billion request for border security, and money for a wall along the us-mexico border.

that yellow, orange and red zone there. so basically southwest most new jersey, and then down through new castle kent county where you hit the bulls eye, these estimates of course when you look at the legend, talking upwards of three plus inches out of this. we've got few short list of a few spots where we ends up with even more than 3 inches, here is that list, in fact, where in southampton township you were pretty darn close to 4 inches out of this, blackbird, seoul, 3.75 inches. this number may even change still we still have light rainout there. even here in philadelphia just over 2 inches ended up falling so the grounds is incredibly saturated at this point. that means, that you know, with the rain having no where else to go it will just pool in your backyard here. storm scan, not totally out of the woods just yet, this is the back edge of all of this, but taking it sweet old time to get out of here, thankfully the cloud deck beginning to thin out. we will see the very same thing happen here locally, in

fact, already seeing that. in the western most suburbs. but, there is high pressure to thank for the quiet wet their we'll enjoy into tomorrow. then new batch of fronts comes our way toward the tail end of the week. with it comes rebounds on the thermometer. now, we had real taste every spring over the weekends, georgetown, delaware, far south granted but hitting 71 degrees, that ended up tying the old record, set way back in zero nine. but regardless very, very mild day. we hit even in philly early this morning 61 degrees, that will be the one that goes in the record books for the actual daytime high. but far from that at this point. meanwhile, you still can at least see the center city skyline, but very gray cast over that city sky scape. where as is this is live picture right now, at the junior senior high school, starting to see the blue sky, sun breaking through, we will get in that in the city and everywhere elsewhere before the say is said and done. the closer to the coast, late their will take place for you.

temperature has been levels off, currently 30's, low 40's, across most of the board. looking at the winds speeds, that's not helping matters much. pretty persistent winds flow out of the north or northwester here. anywhere from ten to 20 plus miles per hour. of course that will make it feel that much chillier. so if you walked out the door early this morning, and it felt so balmy, like i don't need my winter coat, hopefully you tuned into us, and new better that it was going to be getting colder so at this point you really do need to have that winter coat ready. later tonight, well, that's february, that's much more like it, 26 for the nighttime low under nice clear sky. looking forward in the eyewitness weather seven day, again, that 61 happened very early this morning, won't see it the rest of the day, by tomorrow shall much more typical, 43, in the sunshine at least, for valentine day, expect more than late night showers which will linger into thursday. but look how warm 63 degrees might as well be mid april with those values. but then the temperatures take serious hit. look at saturday. thirty's, 40's, 50's, 60s, all

in 17 day. mother nature just cannot make up her mind. >> something for everyone. >> clearly. >> thanks, katie. well, he's a very special texas man who is leaving behind a lasting legacy. >> and meisha is here with today's lover it. >> a man was laid to rest after he lost his battle with cancer. now his friend, family, neighbors, which include several dozen of his own foster children say he will be deeply missed but they're sharing his legacy of love of the take a look. >> there is not enough words to even describe the man, the father, the friends. >> fifty-nine year old james whittworth certainly left his mark, and his family is proof. all 90 of them. nina his wife of 19 years, six children from their brady bunch style blended family, 15 grandchildren, one great grand child, and 67 foster kids. for 11 years the couple welcomed into their home kids who were taken from their own because of dire circumstances.

>> just always happy, singing, dancing, snapping, and humming , and dancing through the house, running through the house, he was just very humble , hand i, goofy man. >> but there was a serious side that instilled pride and christian stewardship. >> he was very passionate about family and god and constantly encouraging us to do better and be better and value ourselves. and to never settle. >> he was cents an exceptional man. he would ben over backward for anybody. he would give you the shirt off your back if you asked for it. >> touching the heart of so many, but in the end, his lungs weren't strong enough. he was diagnosed with cancer and he passed away soon after the diagnosis. but that's the thing, his legacy lives off, his life celebrate in the eve memory shared by his a door family, husband, father, protector and a friends who will be greatly missed. in this life, it all comes down to the legacy that we

leave behind and he was certainly one of love. right up until the very last day. >> sixty-seven foster kids. there is a special place in heaven for that man. >> don't you think? i even think about just one, two, three, four, five kids, 67. foster children. not even counting his own kids and grandchildren. leaving that legacy. that really in the end is all what it is all about. >> true, true. thank you shall meisha. >> appreciate it. >> new york city, well guess what, going to the dogs. >> oh,. >> pampered pumps arrive for the westminster dog show. we'll have the story coming up next.
