♪ >> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this cbs3 "eyewitness news". developing now at noon fire on the 44th floor chopper three over the tropicana in a resort and atlantic city in atlantic city. fire on mattress this morning spread to the walls. four floors have to be evacuate the as a result and fire official say the sprinklers quickly put out the flames. trop anka employees were vac weighed for smoke inhalation but no other injuries. >> another developing story this noon we're following chaotic outside the nsa in maryland after an suv slams into barrier and shots are fired.

it all ended with several people being hurt. good afternoon i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. officials now say they have the situation under control. correspondent weja chang has latest developments. >> several bullets pierced the windshield of a black suv outside the headquarters of the national security agency. law enforcement sources say tell cbs news the driver of the vehicle tried to drive through a security gate at an entrance to the campus wednesday morning located on the fort meade camp campus. sources tell cbs news shots were fired but no one was hit. three people in the vehicle were hurt in the crash which caused the air bags to deploy. several people were taken to the hospital. the nsa released a statement saying the situation is under control and there's no on-going security or safety threat. investigators from the fbi nsa and local police are all on the scene which is just beyond this parking lot which is also a staging area for the media. the incident is reminiscent of a

deadly shooting in march 2015 when the nsa opened fire on another suv that tried to ram the gate. killing the driver and wounding the passenger. the white house says the president has been briefed on today's situation. weja chang for cbs3 "eyewitness news". back here at home police are hoping you can help them track down a gunman scene in surveillance video. take look. this video from the 5200 block of webster street just before 2:00 a.m. on february 1st. the gunman runs up to group of five young people firing a handgun. 20-year-old man and two women ages 18 and 19 were shot but survived. the gunman got away in dark colored sedan. anyone with information should call police. police are investigate a deadly crash involving a dump truck in lehigh county. chopper three over the 900 block of huffs road church road in albertus. investigators say the first responders were called to the scene around 7:00 this morning. police would only confirm that one person was killed when the

dump truck and sedan collided. chopper three over an accident involving a philadelphia schoolbus in logan at old york road and wagner avenue. police say two children from the bus and one adult from the car were hurt. but the extent of their injuries at this point is unknown. investigators you are now trying to determine what caused crash. president trump's personal tournure lead sealed that paid $130,000 of his own money to a porn actress who allegedly had sexual relationship with trump before he ran for president. michael cullen said in a statement he was not reimbursed by the trump organization or campaign for the payment to stormy daniels. watch dog group asked to investigate where the payment come. the payment was made before the 2016 election. >> the chairman of house overnight committee launching an investigation into the background check on president trump pops former staff secretary rob porter. white house said repeatedly that the porter investigation was on going. allegations that he physically

accused of two ex wives first surfaced last week. fbi testimony however shot holes in that timeline. >> it's sunny for now but storm clouds are on the morrison and some heavy rain is on its way. meteorologist katie fehlinger is tracking the rain from the cbs3 sky deck. katie, when were will he need the umbrellas. >> i think later on tonight is the next round of that wet weather moving in, jim. it's a completely bright sunny start to the afternoon here in center city physical. a couple of clouds here and there but all in all, it feels kind of mild outside and certainly with the heavy winter coat on it definitely feels comfortable to be out in the sunshine right now. so if you're still maybe making a run to get your sweetheart last minute gifts for valentine's day, the weather is going to cooperate for that. any other plans you have outside in fact. let's take a quick peek at storm scan. not going to see wet weather just yet locally we've got our a couple of clouds beginning to build in a southern most counties with time those had couldn't to lift north and as they do, we'll start to see some wet weather moving in but that actually starts to move in from the northwest so it's the northwest counties that actually

end up with a first round of wet weather later on toward nightfall. now at the moment, the temperatures are above average. you're at 48 degrees here at the airport. 47 in trenton. 47 in wilmington. very much just consistency across most of the board here take you down toward the shore points courtesy south west wind. you see that wind direction coming in with the arrow. so you're in the mid 40s along the shore points, too, and as the day goes on probably eek out another oh, say, three, 4 degrees or so. here's what you can expect the rest of the day. it's milder obviously already milder but eventually top off in the lower 50s. the wind is light but out of the southwest to help bring that warmth in. and we'll see a couple of showers start to develop later on tonight. but down the road, there's not only more rain on the way, but even a sneaky system that arrives for the weekend that bring the possibility of snow. so there's some parts about this storm that we are certain of and there are some factors that are still some question marks. i'll outline both just a little

there. you'll see some additional clouds begin to bill as the afternoon wears on here. and that is already reflected on the satellite when we look at a bit of a wider zoom more clouds beginning to billow in across the dc area and that's all headed our way with time as are these. these rain showers that are starting to pop and show little bit more intensity across the mid mississippi, the hoy river valley headed our way. note how scattered in nature these showers are. that's what it will look like when it reaches us too. let's take you all the way to 8:00 p.m. maybe even as early as 6:00 p.m. further inland in central pa, west lancaster and berks county start to see pockets of showers firing up. but it is primarily going to start in the north and west counties any showers that come through. it's too warm for anything but plain rain on this one. so it's only rain tonight. even by 11:00, 12, 1:00 a.m. you're only going looking at rain. had freezing issues in the poconos this morning that's why i'm hammering that point home. but some of these showers could be locally drenching through the overnight it will all work its

way through our area here in philly, the early morning sisters will be driving in probably with some showers but you'll probably get away without your umbrella here for the bulk of thursday. again on thursday night, however, we catch break between fronts then again on thursday night we start to see those showers lifting right back in again. this time it's a cold front that's going to be the culprit but once more it looks like it's strictly rain. jump ahead here with the schedule link it looks more like thursday night into very early friday concern. so both of those batches come through generally through the next two nights. now let's talk about the sneaky system. nothing to really track on radar just yet. we can't show you that to you but way do know about this there's going to be an area of low pressure to our south, and specifically late day saturday into sunday morning is the timing. that's what is very consistent with the modeling right now and the guidance and it right now also looks like that precipitation could be heavy. the question is, what kind of precip will it be and where does is the bulk of heavy precip going to be.

wild card is the overall storm track. that also means that your rain/snow line where you see the separation is also a bit of a question mark. that's pretty important piece of information. so as we get closer and closer that's going to become more obvious to you. we'll certainly pass on that information. in the meantime it's a nice start to the afternoon there's not too much wind, feels comfortable outside. we've got a clear view overall here of the center city skyline from palmyra cove nature park in our live neighborhood network it's a milder afternoon beginning of it here 11 degrees surplus since thins same yesterday. flirting with 50 already. modest breeze but it feels nice and as we look forward in the seven day forecast you want a taste april. i got you cover. thursday afternoon 65 degrees. not shabby, jim, loves it. but don't get used it to, my friend, by the time we hit the weekend there you go. you're at best hovering to about 40 degrees and that's with that cold air in place going to pro void a decent afternoon for
