time, 14 months, also, that fire that we had in olde city last sunday chestnut street is still closed between fourth and second street, you will testify use your alternate market street is your best bet second and third street are also closed around this area, jim, back over to you. we are following a developing story this morning the search for gunman who opened fire on a van packed with woman and children. >> driver of the van lost control and crash, police say she was killed. for very latest we will check with jan carabao live at police headquarters, jan, good morning. >> reporter: rahel and jim, good morning, philadelphia police described an wild scene there in fernrock last night, they say someone opened fire at least five times on a van packed with people as you mentioned, women and three young children this morning one of those women is dead, other five people are injured, fortunately for them recovering now in stable condition. take a look at the video to see what we're talking about here. police responded to broad street and grange avenue just

after 8:30. nearby they found this van crashed in the building in the 5800 block of old york road, that is just feet away from the broad and grange intersection there 23 year-old driver was shot at least once pronounced dead at the scene. it appears this shooting happened as that woman was driving north in the area after she was hit by gunfire police say she who control of the van, drove across the double yellow lines on to old york road and then up in the sidewalk and then into the building there, along with the driver, two other women in their 20's and three children, age two to six years old were all found in the wrecked van and all injured and taken to the hospital, take a listen. >> at this time it doesn't appear that any of those five passengers, the adults and females were struck by gunfire they do have injuries, we're not certain how the injuries occurred but they were hit with glass or as a result of the van crashing in the

building. we're not certain right now but from witness accounts the vehicles shots were fired from were getting information was traveling north bound next to the van. >> reporter: absolutely chaotic scene police believe both cars were traveling north when gunfire erupted, at this point no motive for shooting and no suspects, fortunately for police that car was last seen driving north on 5800 block of broad street that your use has a lot of businesses with surveillance cameras that they hepp to find video to track them down the shooter here. anyone with any information should call police. reporting live, this morning jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new back to you. here's hoping that video helps. a 10 year-old is dead after a shooting in monmouth county, new jersey. this happened at 10:30 in asbury park, 39 year-old woman was also shot in the leg and is hospitalized but expect to survive. it is in the clear if the two were targeted, police are

"eyewitness news" reporter trang do is here with this special doctor using her skills to make a difference good morning trang do. >> reporter: you have to see these videos. the surgeries she is performing are simple here in the u.s. and done in life before they develop into serious problems. places where access is extremely limited these surgeries are life changing. >> let me take a look. >> reporter: doctor chow is back at work seeing patients as an oral surgeon at jefferson university hospital. but earlier this in she was almost 6,000 miles way on the african mercy, a medical ship currently dock off the coast of cameroon. >> everybody that serves, goes there on a voluntary basis. nobody gets pay. you pay your way to go there to help the people. >> reporter: it was doctor chow's sixth volunteer trip with the mercy ship a commitment that brought her expertise to five african countries. >> i realized how many help that we are providing for people who cannot afford care

so i just keep going back. >> reporter: video before and after procedure shows stunning transformations. any oral surgery cases patients are able to smile for the first time in years. >> there is a lot of benign tumors that go unchecked, because the people there cannot afford care so instead of quarter sized tumor, in upper or lower jaw often patients we encounter, they are melon sized, water melon sized. >> reporter: stationed in one country for 10 months it takes 450 people to operate ship at any given time, essentially a floating hospital, providing medical care to surgeries completely free of charge but people with all kinds of skill sets are needed to keep it going. >> it is like a community, almost a little town, you can be a cashier, little shop, there is a bank, an accountant
