moving through right now steady starting to lift out but notice more moisture where that came from. we have been talking about all week this conveyor belt of moisture this same boundary and wave after wave of precipitation. here's next one. warm air is lift nothing with that system. while it will be wet this weekend it will be as chilly and raw as it is today. we still have up in the lehigh valley in the poconos threat for icing, winter weather advisory has expired, it looks like that threat has diminished from the poconos as temperature rise overnight. rest of us still dealing with that my, drizzle outside, temperatures only in the lower 40's. so better than snow and ice, as folks are saying but definitely feeling chill, one of the days that chill you to the bones with temperatures in the 40's. tonight, mist and drizzle continues, patchy fog, temperatures rise but we will stay in the 40's during overnight hours and that stronger system comes in through the weekend staying soggy through sunday, several rounds of rainfall, expected and for more on the weekend

buses and building to the ground. "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves is live with the latest, alycia. >> reporter: jessica, fire officials have spent most of the day just going through this, as you can tell behind me now destroyed school bus garage but they have no official word on what caused the fire, that they raised here. we are told that cause could take days because as you can tell this garage is over 10,000 square feet and investigators will to have sift through every inch of it. roughly two million-dollar in damages for one lehigh county school district after this early morning inferno, the 3:00 a.m. fire in orfield ripped through parkland school district east bus garage located next to orefield middle school. blaze raged for over an hour and took about 75 fire fighters to put it out. in the end, 16 recently purchased school buses were burned to their frames and totaled. >> we have had approximately

nine to 14 buses, adjacent to the garage also that experienced some damage because there was some explosions, we lost windshield s, mirrors, headlights. >> explosion that is everybody is reporting was tires that were popping off the buses, as the fire was going on. so that was kind of a loud and people were nerve bus that. >> reporter: despite the intensity of this fire and all of the damage left behind no one was hurt, school had to be cancelled in the district because the school buses destroyed and damaged, totaled to about 25 percent of the district's fleet. >> many of our surrounding school districts and neighboring school districts have offered us surplus buses that they may have or getting news touch with their contractor who may have, you know, surplus buses. we feel pretty good that we will have school monday i'm pretty optimistic. >> reporter: district says that these 16 bus that he is were new but are now destroyed

, they were still under warranty and will be replaced in the full warranty that they have for them, but that likely could take months, so, all of the help they are getting from surrounding school districts that will go a licensing way to insuring that the students in the district will be able to attend school next week. live from lehigh county, alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". an update to another fire we told but this week that destroyed six ambulances in wood town salem county, new jersey. officials continued to investigate the cause of that fire, which burned the wood town american legion ambulance association to the ground. at so, is now back in operation using donated or borrowed equipment, and a go fund me page has already raised $3,400, and money will help non-profit group rebuild and replace, the lost equipment. police are on the hunt for whoever burglarized two churches in the same delaware county community on the same night. the break ins happened late wednesday at st. lawrence catholic church in the former

calgary presbyterian church up inner darby. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt joins us from the upper darby police department with more, david. >> reporter: a lot of people asked me what am i doing in upper darby. i tell them. they are sick when they hear about this story. you can bet upper darby investigators want to make an arrest or multiple arrests as soon as possible. st. lawrence catholic church, a crime scene this week, after authorities say that someone possibly several people, broke into the building and stole money from the poor boxes. >> when you break into the poor box to steel money that is given by a parishioners or church goers for the poor, then some scum bag walks away with the change, i mean give me a break. >> reporter: upper darby police september michael chit wood says burglar or burglars ransacked part of the connecting school at st. lawrence. money was also missing from a teachers desk drawer.

down the street someone broke into this church formerly calvary presbyterian and now five different churches under the same roof. >> people get so low anymore they break into anyplace. >> reporter: warren began volunteering in the building three years ago and he was upset to learn of this recent crime. >> they busted the door down, that really was, nothing in there but chairs. >> reporter: chitwood believes the intended target here was computers, and there were no computers available because they were stolen last year in another attach on the building according to the man, thieves made their way with a small amount of money. >> it is just unfortunate that nothing is sacred anymore. >> reporter: chitwood said this building made up of five churches had no alarm or camera while st. lawrence had both, they just weren't working at the time of the break in. make sure if you have cameras and an alarm that they are working. >> reporter: official december kline to speak about this on the record, chitwood believes that the people that broke

into the churches had some knowledge of the building, and if you have any information, give upper darby police a call , reporting from upper darby delaware county tonight david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> david, thank you. teachers and staff returned to marjory stoneman douglas high school for the first time since last weeks deadly shooting. school board officials say it was designed to provide any support teachers may need. teachers will return to class next wednesday. tallahassee florida governor rick scott announced a new plan to improve school safety in the wake of the school tragedy. >> the goal of this plan of action toys make massive changes in protecting our schools, provide significantly more resources for mental health, and to do everything we can to keep guns out of the hands of those dealing with mental problems or threatening harm to themselves or others. >> governor scott's plan includes raising the state's minimum age to buy a gun to 21 , he calls it the creation of the violent threat

restraining order program, that allows the court toss prevent violent or mentally ill people from purchasing guns. scott also wants police office 's signed to have public school in the state, starting this fall, school safety blueprint requires mandatory active shooter skills. some students from our area have come up with a safety device that could be used in the event of a shooting here. >> "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan has more from washington township. >> reporter: with multiple police officers and security guards, secured entrances and regular drills, washington township school was recently named the third most safe district in new jersey. >> we have been fortunate in this district to do some of the things we have done. >> reporter: superintendent joe, says there are always ways to make schools safer. after recent safety audit he learned that despite students in corners during active corner drills you could still see them. >> a lot of the assailants are kid that get to the school they know just because lights are off, door closed and the door is locked there is

probably kid in those rooms. >> reporter: he went to his engineering students to obscure a shooter's vision in the classroom. >> it had to be relatively inexpensive because we are trying to deploy throughout the district. >> reporter: school doors by law has to have windows and because thinks fire protected wood you cannot actually screw anything into it to attach a panel. how did the students solve that problem? they decided to use velcro and panel material that was light, durable and inexpensive and cardboard was way to go. but figuring out best way to attach it, make a living hinge and replicate 800 of these panels for the doors throughout this district has taken over a year. >> i thought putting a piece of cardboard on the door but it turnout to be way more. >> reporter: after much trial, error, documentation they believe they have a design and mass produce it. >> really basic elegant design because of simplicity if they are prepackage in this way all they have to do is take off this tape and stick it to the door and everything is already

in the weeks since the florida school shooting, several schools in pennsylvania and new jersey have been dealing with threats of violence. roman catholic students, and then deptford township police have identified the source of the school shooting threat, made on social media last night, deptford high school, and, institute of, technology. and police determined threats of violence for pen ridge high school and true man high school were not credible. at least one person in custody following a brawl of basketball court of the delaware high school this was the scene at milford senior high school last night during the game between the teams, and, and, 18 year-old, ramsey, turned himself into police but

bath and nothing worse then that, lets look at what ism happening, outside, we have a chilly evening, chilly, mity, drizzly and foggy, and dealing with fog through the overnight hours as well. live look at center city, showing buildings are all shrouded in fog. you can see the one closest to us, but tops of the building, there in the sky line, not visible, thanks to the low cloud and fog clinging to center city philadelphia and entire region, as we zoom down to the delaware beaches. live neighborhood network sites here boardwalk plaza looking very fogged in at the moment, and that will continue , overnight. reason we will be seeing fog increasing once again is that warm air is starting to lift back in, and temperatures will rise through overnight hours and tomorrow morning. that is good news. bad news is, we still got very soggy conditions to contend with as we head through the weekend. right now we can see a few showers, moving to northern, new jersey and weak batch back toward, portions of i80 off to the northwest steady rain

coming down into portions of new jersey and lehigh valley as well, starting to clear out and light rain around easton, nazareth and that is lifting east and tinicum township seeing rain as well this is not the last of it. we're tracking this system, this will be lift nothing over weekend, first a warm front that will bring showers through the day tomorrow, and will bring warmer air, and cold front follows that on sunday, and that is going to bring heaviest rain we will see. late saturday night into sunday morning. forty-three in philadelphia. forty in allentown. forty in reading. another batch of milder air, lurks to the south and west. it is 79 in nashville. seventy-seven in atlanta back to the 60's in columbus. we will see temperatures, gradually rising overnight, 46 is overnight low, mostly cloudy, tomorrow is mild, 60 degrees, a few showers and steady rain comes in late in the day, or at night, and here's what that looks like, time it out, overnight still, clouds, mist, and drizzle, best chance will be tomorrow to get outside. there will be scattered

showers around at anytime tomorrow but by four or 5:00 that is when heavy rain comes in and we will be dealing with that all night saturday night into sunday morning, here's 8:00 a.m. with have rain, showers on and off through sunday, and here's good news by monday morning, we will clear out, sun returns , the rain departs but it doesn't depart, mild air, as they helped into next week. forecast rain amounts into sunday, by sunday evening, the purple, some spots could be seeing over 2 inches of rain. always got to be a silver lining and here it is, mild stretch tarts tomorrow, temperatures well above average, normal high in the mid to upper 40's. we will be seeing highs in the 50's and 60's, right into next week. and best days to get outside, and looks like monday and tuesday with sunshine both days, highs in the low 60's. wednesday not too bad. couple rain chances. but notice lack of cold in that february, seven day forecast, i'll tell what you. >> it looks good, thanks, kate still ahead on "eyewitness news" it is a look, not for less.

confront the gun man, during the parkland florida school shooting. >> the president leveled the sharp criticism during a speech to conservatives at cp ac conference in maryland. president used his speech to discuss his plan to prevent mass shootings at nation's schools. one idea includes putting guns in the hands of some trained teachers and faculty members. >> i'd rather have somebody that loves their students and wants to protect their students, then somebody standing outside, that doesn't know anybody and doesn't know the students and frankly for whatever reason decided not to go in even though he heard lots of shots being fired inside. >> president trump also had a joint press conference with australian prime minister malcolm turnbull this afternoon, leaders discussed a wide range of topics including gun control, immigration control and north cover re. former trump campaign official rick gates pleaded guilty to charge that he is are part of the special

counsel's robert investigation in the russian meddling in the 2016 election this comes after mueller filed new charges against gates and trump campaign chairman paul manafort yesterday. prosecutors, say that the two long time business marters in laundered 30 million-dollar, failed to pay taxes for almost 10 years, and fraudulently, secured loans. manafort denies any wrongdoing. joining us now from washington is the new host of face the nation, and cbs news senior foreign affairs correspondent margaret brennan hi, and a big congratulations to you. >> thanks very much, jessica. >> you said earlier this week on cbs this morning you want to continue tradition of conversations on face the nation, not all this yelling back and forth. tell us about what to expect. >> you are compactly right, and i know, that this, gun debate, gun conversation, that this country is having, right now, is something that, people have really been inundated

with over past two weeks, since that florida shooting. we want to talk about where you might see change happen most quickly, and we believe that maybe at local level, we will have two governors with us, governor of arkansas, asa hutchinson a republican and democratic governor of the state of connecticut, dan mall oy who will talk to us about what they went through in the wake of that sandy hook massacre, and that conversation had at the time about putting armed guards at schools. the nra supported that. the president of the united states now supports that idea in the wake of the florida shooting. what works, what doesn't, what were some of the local regulations that went into the state of connecticut that they put in place to try to prevent another sandy hook massacre from happening again. we are doing this because this conversation in washington is so heated you may see local movement, before you see see federal movement and we will bring in survivors from columbine, sandy hook, from

other shootings as well to talk about how as activist now , they think, that things can be improved. is it creating a new law or is it something completely different here when it comes to school safety. >> really interesting to go take to it that local level where things could move in, different directions then at the federal level. also, you guys, we have had so much movement in the russia investigation we were talking about it here on our broadcast about rick gates, pleading guilty. i know you have been covering it. >> we have, and we will dig into that with our political panel. we have a great group of journalist to make sense of that and really bottom line at this point, seems to be that with this decision by rick gates to now cooperate with the special counsel bob mueller who is leading that fbi special probe into russian election meddling from the presidential election in 2016, this seems to be rick gates agreeing to cooperate perhaps

>> it does look like the peak, it is behind us now. >> reporter: it has been a rough flu season but latest numbers from the cdc show number of people visiting the doctor for flu-like illness is decreasing. >> it looks like it is down now at the level that we had, was actually almost as high as we had in 2009 when pandemic occurred. that is a lot of influenza activities so we expect it several more weeks of the flu this season. >> reporter: dominant has been h3n2 and while health officials say is there less of that virus circulating they are seeing more influenza b. >> h3 and two effects more older folks with high hospitalization and death rates but influenza b effects those that are younger. is there still a fair amount of influenza to go, probably until mid-april. >> reporter: health experts are continuing to urge everyone who has not gotten a flu shot to get one and they say sick people should stay home to prevent spreading the virus. the cdc says that 13 more
