(female teen) physical sexual harassment, verbal sexual harassment, and visual sexual harassment. what you are going to see are different scenarios of what we've learned. (male teen) and the proper steps to take in case this situation ever happens to you. (female teen) sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination. the legal definition of sexual harassment is unwelcome verbal, visual, or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is severe, and affects working conditions or creates a hostile work environment. the equal employment opportunity commission, eeoc, handles sexual harassment claims in the workplace. the u.s. department of education, office of civil rights, ocr,

oh, hello. hi. i'm briana. how're you doing? i'm mr. turner. what can i help you with? i'm the new high school intern and i was wondering if there was anything for me to do. oh great, great. actually, i do. i have some files in there right there you can file for me. tracy, lately i've been feeling really uncomfortable about being around mr. turner. what did he do to make you feel uncomfortable? he just been brushing up on me, and like when i'm around him he does little things that just don't makme feel right. he probably do that stuff on the accident. i mean, you're a good worker, for a high school student. i don't know, i think there's something else to it. i doubt it.

(female teen) verbal harassment: comments about clothing, personal behavior, or a person's body; sexual or sex-based jokes; requests for sexual favors or repeatedly asking a person out; sexual innuendos; telling rumors about a person's personal or sexual life; threatening a person. (male teen) tell the harasser that the conduct is inappropriate and must stop immediately. report the incident to a supervisor, or someone with authority in the company. follow the company complaint process, if one exists. if not, make a written report of what happened,

(jacinta) oh my god, what is that? then it happened again. you found another picture? yep, but it was on a computer. did anybody else see it? jacinta did. maybe y'all should go to the top boss, 'cause this happened way too many times. well, what's that gonna do? you don't know if you never try. mm, true. [knocking] (female) come in. what brings you to my office today? i have to run to a meeting in a few minutes. well, i have a problem with my boss exposing me to pornography. okay then. um, what's your boss's name? mr. turner.

mr turner? okay, what i can do is set up a meeting with you, mr. turner, and myself later on today. but really right now i have to get going because i have to go to another meeting. okay. thank you very much. (mr. turner) [laughing] she was so serious! (female) well she came in today... (mr. turner) [laughing] i crack myself up some... good afternoon, ms. raymond. well earlier on today, ms. raymond had came to me regarding an issue she feels that hasn't been taken seriously. ms. raymond, can you please state your issue again? first, mr. turner gave me some papers to file. there was pornography inside the stack. i asked him can he be more careful. he said okay. second incident, there was pornography on the computer. i feel he's not taking me very seriously. i think the situation is being blown out of proportion. this is a situation that could have been solved between the both of us, and i feel that not only is she wasting my time, she's wasting your time also.

and if you ask me, i think she's actually more interested in the pornography than me. [laughs] okay, i'm going to have to side with mr. turner on this because i feel like this situation could have been resolved from the both of you guys. um, now as you know, i am a very busy woman, and this sounds like a personal issue to me and certainly a real waste of my time. now i have to get going because i do have to run to a meeting. (mr. turner) well, victoria, as you know, it's always a pleasure. i'll be seeing you tomorrow for lunch. mrs. raymond, if you feel you need to talk about anything, come see me in my office. briana, i'm sorry i didn't listen to you the first time when you told me that mr. turner was sexually harassing you. it took me a while to realize that we both was being sexually harassed. so what do you think we should do? i think we should call eeoc. hello,

(female teen) conduct is not sexual harassment if it is welcomed. for this reason, it is important to communicate. many different kinds of conduct, verbal, visual, or physical, that is of a sexual nature may be sexual harassment if the behavior is unwelcome. the victim, as well as the harasser, may be a woman or a man. the victim does not have to be of the opposite sex. the victim does not have to be the person harassed, but could be anyone affected by the offensive conduct. the harasser could be the victim's supervisor, an agent of the employer, a supervisor in another area, a coworker or a non-employee. ♪
