tonight, john kerry has been speaking about the middle east peace process which seemed the last few days to be on the brink of collapse. not so to the secretary of state. speaking in brussels tonight he said a lot of strategies were still in play and it is far too premature to write off the peace process. john kerry has canceled a planned visit tomorrow, he was due to meet with the palestinian president mahmud abbas. he was trying to rescue the talks in which a faltered over the issue of 26 palestinian prisoners that israel is refusing to release. a palestinian refusal to extend the april 29 deadline for those middle east talks. tonight palestinians have announced that they are to resume their bid of seeking recognition with you and will be, which considered provocative by israel. we will continue to follow that developing story.

price. in december, russia agree to offer ukraine a quarterly discount on gas exports along with its financial bailout offer. discount is now off the table. the gas from ceo has just declared a price increase. it claims ukraine owes it 1.7 billion dollars in unpaid gas bills. the latest development will likely placed a weak economy under further pressure. >> the ukrainian economy is not doing very well, given that the country depends heavily on russian gas, price increases are going to affect the country quite dramatically. >> ukraine parliament has already improved to 50% increase in the price of gas from the first of may. jill and the companies are set to see a 40% increase in tariffs from the first of july -- utility companies will see an increase.
