we begin now with some stern words over ukraine. ukrainian prime minister accusing russia of wanting to start another world war iii if speaking -- world war. >> by russia on ukraine's territory. will lead to military conflict in europe. the world has not yet forgotten world war ii. a russia already wants to start world war iii.

highnsions are running east of ukraine as the government is carrying out what it calls an antiterrorist operation. program russian separatists have seized -- have seized control of several cities. we go to douglas herbert who is covering events for us now. you're just north of the eastern city. you have seen ukrainian special forces. describe for us the current situation at this hour. hour is really in the past that we came upon the first sign that we can see of this antiterrorist operation in kiev. we came upon a large unit of ukrainian special forces. these were highly disciplined soldiers that the military camouflaged. their fingers on the trigger.

these were soldiers that were ready to fire. there are standing on either side of the highway, very vigilant. one soldiers were lying down full-size of the highway with either sidescanning for any signs of movement for separatist forces. this is an area very much on edge. there is a lot of talk about the possibility of an imminent russian invasion. while we were watching these forces, they actually moved further down the road. we followed them and they were moving in the direction. we try to approach and speak to them. they were visibly nervous. one of the soldiers with his kalashnikov at his ready came walking toward us, told us not to provoke them. deployed probably

about a kilometer down the road. these are soldiers very much under orders not to speak to anyone but to keep a very tight watch on the surrounding countryside at a time when the separatists are hunkered down at their own checkpoints. i counted five checkpoints on the eastern part. as we progressed further up the road we came upon much more professional more paramilitary style militia, much more heavily armed. they one point asked the passengers to get off. people withome arms darker skin. a lot of people will to you when they see people with eric or skin it will immediately say they are caucasian, meaning from

the protest followed a chaotic meeting between airline staff and relatives who have been waiting for nearly 50 days without any sighting of the plane. let's bring in rachel rubel who's is in beijing following events for us. the family members of those on board are fed up at this point. tell us more about what prompted this protest. >> the family members of the passengers on board the flight are very frustrated and upset with the malaysian government over what they say is a lack of transparency from the government in the investigation of what happened to the flight. this all came to head yesterday and it reefing at the hotel where many of the family members are staying here in beijing. they were told they would hear from a member of the embassy who would give them answers to their questions but then no one showed up. 100 of the members then marched over to the malaysian embassy silentght, holding a

protest and demanding to hear from an official to give us answers to the question. as the police showed up and blocked off the neighborhood around the embassy, not allowing any journalists in to take videos or talk to any of the family members, we do not know if they were able to get answers to the questions. the malaysian prime minister is vowing to release a parliamentary report into the disappearance of the flight. family members say it is not soon enough. malaysian flight 370 went missing on march 8 with 239 people on board. where to search efforts currently stand? >> unfortunately there really isn't anything new. of the underwater vehicle that has been searching the area in the southern indian ocean about 2000, mutters west of western australia, where investigators thought they heard the possible twos from the black box weeks ago, they have been searching the area for signs of the missing flight.
