on home fans faces as their big dream died. players out on the pitch younger than myself suffering something like a nervous breakdown. it wasn't pretty viewing. the reaction in brazil has not been much more measured. i have a paper here with me. you can see them, claiming the death of the brazil side is all pretty serious stuff. it is also blithely unaware. the media played a huge role in creating the pressure cooker atmosphere that broke result players and the and and it is a bit of a sad and shortsighted way to look at this tournament. the nation has a lot to be proud of. i hope they remember that in the days to come. they can show some gratitude to the players that didn't ask to try to heal a national wound they had no part in creating and a think when the third lace

as germany's main spokesman put it today, we are close allies with the u.s. and if they want information from us, they can get it just by asking. the real significance of these cases lie in the fact that they are part of a pattern. that pattern began last summer with revelations that the u.s. had been tapping chancellor merkel's cell phone. the most recent disclosures appear to belie u.s. claims that they were looking to rein in the intelligence services and better way political costs against possible information benefits. >> german u.s. relations are already strained because of the nsa revelations. is this another setback? >> we have heard some fairly strong statements from the range of politicians. this could be a very serious breach of trust. parliamentarians are currently in the u.s., members of the german foreign relations
