it is the biggest game in world soccer and just got under way a few minutes ago. germany and argentina are facing off to see who will lift the 2014 world cup trophy. all eyes are on rio's stadium with an expected global audience of more than a billion people the post watched sporting event everyone. chancellor angela merkel has joined a contingent of fans hoping they will clinched a fourth title and argentina is hoping to clinch number three. football fever has reached a climax in germany and we will be going live to better lip -- berlin but first we look at news. israel is stepping up offenses in gaza there were morning air strikes and commando raid sunday. more than 160 palestinians have

it has been a pretty rainy day. has that put a damper on fan enthusiasm? >> believe it or not last time i was down here i was complaining because it was too hot. i had sweat dripping down the back of my legs. this time dripping wet. i would say i stayed dry. i brought an umbrella and this has turned into one big wet t-shirt competition. the fans are not giving up. they are shouting and jumping up and down and every time the ball gets near the goal they go crazy. we've got about i guess 400,000 to 500,000. the fans stretch about 1 by 5 kilometers down. >> are there any argentine wet t-shirts off there? >> good question. i have found out of this crowd
