japanese tennis player to reach a grand slam final. and japan's new agriculture minister hopes trade talks are signed shortly. the 12,000 page document details the day to day life of the late emperor. he was given the title of the name of the era which he reig d reigned. the officials displayed the copy of the records in tokyo. they used more than 3,000 sources including public documents and diaries of close aides. the records include verbal interactions from his first meeting with then-u.s. u.s. president richard nixon.

according to documents the emperor thanked nixon for agreeing to return items of okinawa to the japanese government. after sovereignty by the united states okinawa was returned to japan in 1972. the documents show after he became the symbol of the states the emperor became interested in diplomacy and national security and was briefed on such matters by government officials. >> reporter: although there are no revelations that require changing history books the documents are useful to deepen future research. relatives of japanese nationals abducted by north korea want more help from the international community. they are traveling to geneva. the relatives will speak to un

japan and the u.s. are trying to narrow differences over trans pacific partnership. japan's minister in charge of the trade agreement wants to speed up talks. acting deputy trade representative wendy cutler resumed working level negotiations in tokyo. high on the agenda are five categories of farm products. they will focus on how they will likely serve. economic revitalization says the u.s. wants ministers from the two countries to meet. >> translator: i have been telling u.s. officials that we should give more decision making power to our negotiators so the working level talks will be more productive. i gave a certain level of authority to my negotiators.

>> notes japan's chief tpp negotiator has been making progress with representatives with countries beside the u.s. and talks being held in vietnam. he says he will do what he can to make sure a meeting with the u.s. takes place. japan's new agriculture, forestry and fisheries minister has pledged to continue the tpp talks. he stressed the importance of taking measures to make japan's agricultural industry more profitable. the minister made the comments during an interview. >> reporter: he says it is official to strengthen ties with the tpp countries. he says it would bring great economic benefits to the country. >> translator: the point is how to expand the economic ties as well as giving thorough consideration for domestic farms. we are claiming some products should be handled with care and

items off the menu. mcdonald's took steps by disclosing information on food sources. the people who sell luxury foreign cars in japan say they are feeling the effects of the increase of the consumption tax in april. those who work for german firms are taking a different tact. officials at the japan automobile importers' association say in august sales of foreign cars fell 6.7% from a year earlier. it was the fifth month in a row sales were down. audi is expanding faster than before. they launched four new outlets last year and plan to have ten more by the end of 2015. executives at bmw japan opened a new dealership near tokyo. >> translator: i feel that the

central canada. calgary the high is about 0 degrees and about 25 centimeters of snow fell on monday. the cold air will continue to sink towards the u.s. take a look at this chart. calgary your high is only 3 degrees on tuesday. that is not low, high. slight improvement on thursday. the cold air will effect toronto, chicago and oklahoma city as well as go into the next couple of days. oklahoma city mid summer like conditions continue into wednesday and then down to 24 on thursday and going down to the teens on friday. i know it is quite tough for the body to contend with so please take care of your health. the cold air is meeting with hot and humid air from the gulf of mexico creating the risk of severe weather. we are talking about risks for tornadoes, damaging hail and flash floods. we are seeing heavy rain along

iowa and nebraska. flash floods occurring over the four corners region due to the north american monsoon and another area of flooding over the southeast. we have pictures coming out of eastern parts of virginia. heavy rainfall fell monday causing serious flooding problems. firefighters had to evacuate 35 children from a daycare center along with some of the employees there. however, nobody was injured. cars were found stranded or struggling to move through the fast rising waters. a few roads had to be closed because of the flooding. unfortunately, more rain is anticipated on your tuesday. by your wednesday nice weather should come back in parts of virginia. across japan a severe tropical storm is moving away from the country. we are still seeing rough seas along the pacific coast. blue skies are blanketing most of the country.

however, western areas of the island. more unstable weather likely to continue because cold air is covering this area that is meeting with humid or actually warm air and creating unstable conditions. cold air will continue to sink and cover central japan as we go into tomorrow. tokyo we may see afternoon thunder showers. sunny weather for most of the korean peninsula but unstable weather for the southern half of china. temperaturewise quite warm. shanghai at 27 degrees. down to 24 in tokyo on your wednesday. finally over towards europe quite bad weather continues over the south of the scandinavian peninsula as well as denmark. we are talking about excessive amounts of rainfall. another spot of severe weather could be found over this area
