suppress the disease. scientists at research institute in rio de janeiro released mosquitos with a bacteria. they hope the infected mosquitos breed with wild mosquitos and spread the bacteria to new generations. this has the ability of dengue virus to multiply in blood of mosquitos. mosquitos pass it to their young even if they breed with partners that do not carry it. researchers in australia and indonesia are performing similar tests. brazil has been the scene of some of the biggest outbreaks of dengue fever. one and is a half million have fallen ill with the disease over the past year. researchers say they will release 10,000 mosquitos every week for the next four months as the summer season approaches.
