one of the players in this drama. what sparked this negative response from the german side? what did germany not like in this letter sent from athens to the rest of the eurozone asking for this extension? >> the german finance minister said he was categorical in his rejection because the it would demand more money and more time but he did not present any constructive solutions to problems. kris could not meet the conditions negotiated. -- greece could not meet the conditions negotiated. many would like to hear a promise from greece not to roll back reforms and to see more specific plans on how to move toward a self-sustaining economy. chancellor merkel has not expressed herself on the subject but she admits they will not

want to set the wrong precedent for european countries haunted by the crisis and who reject austerity measures. it will try not to budge or show weakness. >> we have this moral hazard argument being put forward. by germany. we are looking at a eurozone finance minister's meeting in brussels. where they will be getting together to negotiate. do you think there is room for maneuvering? if so, on what? >> there may be room. the game is not decided yet. the vice chancellor is a social democrat. he sees the request for intervention and the willingness to work as a good basis for negotiations. other parties criticized the categorical veto.
