>> thank you for joining us. we start in the united states after a manhunt in trust in south carolina. the man is described as a slender white male about 21 years old. on the manhunt here's our washington correspondent. >> we are all in this together in this community. to help those who have lost a loved one get there this time. we want to give them the love and support and encouragement as we bring this awful person to justice. we will do it as soon as humanly possible. this is a tragedy that no community should have to experience. it is senseless, it is unfathomable.
5:32 am
to think that somebody could walk into a church where people are having a prayer meeting and take their lives. >> the local officials are talking about the shooting in south carolina. we will have more on that later. >> the police are getting involved in this investigation. but more than anything it is a manhunt for this man who is still on the loose. we have a very clear description on behalf of the police department. he is 21 years old. white male with long hair. that is what the police are doing right now. they are saying their main priority is to get this man at this point. there will be a reward for anybody who has information on this person. it will be decided tomorrow. it is a search for somebody who is --
5:33 am
>> we will interrupt that they are with the latest developments from a news conference. >> the shooting that occurred at the church in downtown charleston. police units were immediately dispatched and arrived at that location. we did initially identify each victim. earlier we told you there were two victims that were transported to the hospital. there was one who was transported to the hospital, and another one is deceased. there are a total of nine victims. it is a very tragic situation. it occurred last night. of the victims there were three males, and six female victims. as we told you last night we
5:34 am
have a unified command that has been set up, it is the pride of the charleston police department. the sheriff's department, the law enforcement division, the fbi, the atf, and other federal agencies that are working with us. we are committed, we are determined and we are definitely working right now with a number of agents and police officers in our region to identify the individual that we'd talk to about one hour ago. this is a situation that is unacceptable in any society. especially in our society and our city. we are committed to doing whatever is necessary to bring this individual to justice. i'm committed to all of the people working with us.
5:35 am
we will do whatever we have to, work as long as we have to, use whatever resources we have from the fbi headquarters to help us. we will set up a hotline. you can call the fbi. we will have feds and police officers manning that phone. we want to identify and arrest the suspect. for members of the community who have seen the vehicle as well as the suspect, please call law enforcement. he is a dangerous individual he should not be approached by anyone. please notify us if you see the individual or car so that we can take the appropriate action to address the situation. again, this is a very dangerous individual. we do not want any more victims. do not approach him. notify law enforcement.
5:36 am
we will address that. we are also very concerned about families of the victims. we have set up a family assistance center in downtown charleston. we have members of the charleston police department and advocacy unit, as well as the fbi victims assistant unit as well. i just want to say this, in the time that this call came in. we had resources coming in from all over the east coast. we have more resources coming in this morning from the fbi and other federal agencies. state law-enforcement divisions. we have a significant number of resources, and investigative agents. we are not leaving anything, any stone unturned. this tragedy, that we are adjusting right now, is
5:37 am
undescribable. no one in this community will ever forget this night. as a result of that, and because of the pain and because of the hurt that this individual has caused this community, this entire community. the law enforcement agencies working on this are committed and we will catch this individual. the important thing for you and the media is to help us catch this individual. we have the ability to get this picture, and get this car out in two places quickly. the broad perspective of media is here. social media, please help us. help us help our community.
5:38 am
>> first of all i would like to thank you chief and members of our police department, and all the departments that are here. state, fbi, county. multiple jurisdictions. the media see in the equality of the work has been inspiring. this is unfathomable and unspeakable act. by somebody filled with hate and with a deranged mind. as chief mullen said this person is dangerous. we need every tip we could get to bring this person into custody as soon as possible. and we need to make sure that he pay is the price for this horrible act. in our community.
5:39 am
which is a community together, with people loving and respecting each other. it is a community that honors our religious institution. and respects the different cultures and beliefs, we are called the holy city. all of the church spires that reach up to the sky including ame church where this horrific crime occurred. so of all communities, and charleston to have a horrible hateful person go into a church and kill people there to pray
5:40 am
and worship with each other. is something that is beyond incomprehensible. it is not easily explained. this is what we can do, we can catch this no good horrible person. and see that he pays his price. then what we will do, and what this community has always done is where going to put our arms around that church. and that church family. this is a star church. this is a prominent church of african-american churches. it is part of a social piece of the fabric of society here, for
5:41 am
several hundred years. people come to these churches to pray and worship and worship each other. and this is store church, is exactly that. so what this community will do, and i have seen this great community respond to challenges before. we will see an outpouring from above. and assistance, and kindness and help. and these people, the citizens the chief and i met with them last night. we hugged as many as we could. there were several hundred in there with their families. they were distraught. mothers, grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers. we extended to them from our
5:42 am
community, our love. so today we are committed to finding this horrible scoundrel but today, this community is going to provide a fast example for upcoming communities. to help those grieving, those suffering from this unbelievable event. it has forever ruptured their family bonds. we will work to heal them, and love them. and support them. and that church as long as we live. >> any questions? >> anything from the victims
5:43 am
will have to come from the corners office. they're working right now to get all of that information. as soon as they identify the family members they will publish information. right now our biggest concern is making sure the family members are taken care of to the best of our ability. >> hedy is no -- if you know the suspect is not the downtown area, where do you think he is? >> would not have any information saying that is not where he would be. that's what we got information out about the vehicle, hopefully with all the officers that we have out, the community as well as all the citizens. hopefully will will be able to identify that vehicle and the suspect. >> [indiscernible] >> the individual was actually in the church. in the meeting that was going on
5:44 am
there, and stayed there for almost an hour with the group. >> the mayor said you guys are helping out the families. can you comment on a follow-up on the bomb threat? >> we will not comment on that at the moment. we made sure there was not a bomb, and we're following up on other leads. we are seeing if they are connected right now. >> [indiscernible] >> we are going to send out additional stills of the suspect. i will not comment on any attitude. >> that is from a meeting in south charleston in the united states. nine people were killed there.
5:45 am
with me is our international affairs official. can you bring us more information? >> they have no more details to give at this point. be on the tragic state of the crime as we know it already. nine people dead. literally a crime which is being called a hate crime. we do not have any absolute categorical status as to the motives of the shooter. we had a young, clean-shaven white male. he walked into an all-black church, not just any black church but this was a prominent and well-known black church. the oldest black congregation south of baltimore. he walked in at the height of a prayer service in the middle of the evening. he first set down and then opened fire. it is incomprehensible to everyone.
5:46 am
everyone has easily labeled it a hate crime. it is hard to be seen as anything else. there have been white supremacists prevalent in the area for decades. as they said, they have law-enforcement at all levels, literally, in all states were cooed -- working on a manhunt. you have local, not just fbi but police in south carolina, and other law enforcement officials teaming up. both the police chief in the mayor called it the most serious and tragic incident in recent memory. it was in north charleston that we recently had last month, two months ago the black man walter
5:47 am
scott, shot in the back as he fled a police officer. the police officer opened fire as scott was running away. that prompted nationwide outcry over the use of lethal force by police officers. that is a totally separate issue. from what we are seeing now. we are seeing now's not involving police officers. this was involving a sole individual. he walked into the church and started opening fire. it does happen in the context of a lot of racial tension in south carolina. it is a state where confederate flags still fly around the state. >> herbert thank you very much. we will bring you an update on the story. moving on for now. the european shares are following this morning. athens is not promising for

finding an agreement. it brings us one step closer to the scenario we were all hoping to avoid. for more i am joined by ir man -- our man missing. -- our reporter on the scene. >> stakes here for this meeting are very high. after weeks of tension today we are going to see the final center go face to face with the eurogroup. people on the table are faced with joining or isolation. dealing with the germany financing, it is a new scenario like the greek default. they are head of the
