laura: let's talk about the other violence, david, violence between the turkish forces and kurdish militants. it appears to be spiraling out of control. how link is it to what is happening inside turkey and syria? really twoe is things going on here. first, the civil war in syria and the situation with the islamic state in iraq, where the islamic state forces have occupied a large part of western iraq. both of these countries have long and porous borders with turkey. islamic militants are able to go almost at will, it seems. that is led to a certain degree of instability inside turkey. at the same time we have an unusual political situation. turkey went to the polls in june and there was a general election and the governing party lost its parliamentary majority. nearlyhen there has been two months of efforts to form a coalition government.
