the city's mayor. barack obama called the crimes vicious and calculated. he spoke with the dallas mayor to extend his condolences and two offers or. -- and to offer support. >> i focus is on the victims and their families. that's our focus. the entire city of dallas is grieving. feel thisoss america loss to their core and we are grieving with them. would ask all americans to say a prayer for these officers and their families to keep them in a nation,hts and as let's remember to express our profound gratitude to our men and women in blue. >> the u.s. president speaking following the attacks, speaking in poland where he is attending a nato summit.

times in the span of 24 hours concerning these two different incidents, the shooting of two black men in minnesota and louisiana and had to switch gears and protect law enforcement officials, stand up for them, which is expected and necessary. a hard thing to do at this time because it is quite uncomfortable. >> it is very difficult for barack obama because he is tackling the racial profiling, trying to go after gun violence. he has been thwarted and frustrated in those efforts. after each mass shooting, we clearly see the growing frustration from almost a sense of resignation at this point. he looked downright tired today. of course, that was a long flight to poland. a president who feels he has heed to do all he could and has appealed to the popular will to try to change things.

at the same time, his critics use this against him. he has talked so much about the black victims, the president has not let enough support to the police themselves. they feel they have been sidelined or not given the credit they deserve by the president of the united states. perhaps that is a low blow against obama because he has been very careful to pay tribute to law enforcers and he was very clear today in paying tribute to of the vast majority of policeman who do extremely difficult jobs and risk their lives. what are the police doing? running towards the shooters, running towards the fire, not away from it. that is not the human survival instinct, that is something that you have to be pretty brave to
