a lengthy and productive phone call, but again pivoting around that question, which basically stems from reports coming out of a major newspaper outlet here in the states reporting that intelligence officials have basically at this point a certainty on certain members of the trump team having had contact, as a matter of fact, with a russian. donald trump sort of dancing around that issue, not really giving a clear-cut answer, which basically means that the matter has absolutely been not laid to rest at this point. delano: gallagher fenwick reporting earlier from the white house. the u.s. defense secretary has ruled out immediate military cooperation with russia. the comments from james mattis come as a blow to moscow's hopes of mending relationships with washington. the remarks are the strongest indication yet that u.s. and russia will not be joining forces any soon to fight the islamic state in syria.
