[applause] up,t the devil would not give and d i was sentntenced to deatn 2002. i refused to allow the circumstances to d determine my

future, because i was not a criminal. i refused to live like a criminal. [applause] praise the lord. ♪ [indiscernible] my mom w was able to take care of my daughter. once in a while, my parents used to bring her to see me. talked -- it is very important for a prisoner to talk to their children. whenen you see a friend who doesn't have anything to eat, your share, ok -- you share, ok? ok.

learn how to share with those who don't have. imprisoned, the government doesn't have any plan for the children left behind, so these children need food, shelter. they are searching for love. they end up on the streets. they start committing petty crimes. they graduate into committing bigger crimes. their parents are in prison. ♪ i wanted to, if i get the opportunity, to come out a different path. i took the opportunity.

the conditions were really harsh. i was studying law. i was sentenced to death. what do you want to do with that law degree? you are going to be hanged the next day. it was so foreign here, prisoner studying, women studying? hello. so, i had no class, no lectures, no computeter, no internet.t. so, hahad no graduation. it was amazing. massive, overwhelming,g, my goodness. professors who had come from the university of london where there in bigig numbers, had come to , the first of its kind ever.

♪ i didn't feel angngry anymore. and even if i am bitter or mad can givive me all the time i went to prison. i choose not to be bitter. choose too forgive.. ♪

the day i came out of prison, it was a friday morning and it felt like you don't belong in this world. this is another world that i came in. and so i needed someone, some people to help. if you don't have people to help in this world, you can get lost forever. it is easier for me to trust an ex-prisoner than someone who has never been to prison. when they come out --
