86 percent of those votes have been counted. still waiting on hundred of thousands of votes in arizona. >> i understand there is an issue about the count being prolonged. >> that is right. the issue right now is the mail-in ballots. it is not just an issue but it is just a matter of it taking a little longer to count those mail-in ballots. they have to open every single one, verify the signatures. they are opening them and verifying the signatures, that is the thing that takes the longest. there at 200 -- there are 250,000 outstanding mail-in ballots they came in. we just got word that there is an additional 150,000 ballots that came in on election day. whether or not all of the votes

are counted, will see where that lands. it looks like joe biden will still take this state. >> those mail-in ballots singled out. donald trump seems to be the only voice saying this. you are very close to nevada. that is another key location. tell us what is happening there. >> that race is very tight. about 8000 votes are what vied joe biden and donald trump. they are still counting. they could be counting for days. clark county is one of the many areas we are watching. that includes las vegas. the joe biden campaign was hoping for a bigger margin. linton got a very big margin in nevada in her favor. this one is much smaller. one of the reasons could be because of traveling tourism. las vegas is a huge traveling

tourism hub. they want this open again. president trump is urging the country to reopen. joe biden said he will do whatever it takes to curb coronavirus. that is one of the reasons why many pple a citing that this margin is much close than it was. mark: thank you very much for that analysis. we will let you know what is happening not just in arizona but nevada as well. obviously, this will be there. let's get some thoughts on the whole voting issue as we have been discussing. thank you for joining us. how did you feel when you heard trump's words about mailing votes. what did you feel? >> i feel that it is wrong to punish voters.

mark: i apologize, joe biden is about to speak. joe biden: thank you to the press for being here. my fellow americans, yesterday, it was proved that democracy is the heartbeat of this nation. it has been the heartbeat of this nation for two centuries. even in the face of pandemic, more americans voted this election than ever before in american history. over 150 million people casted their votes. i think that is extraordinary. if we had any doubts, we should not have them any longer. the government by and for the people is very much alive. very much alive in america. here, the people rule.

power flows from the people. it is their will. it determines who will be the president of the united states. there will alone. now, after a long night of counting, it is clear that we are winning enough states to reach 270 electoral votes to win the presidency. i am not here to declare that we have one. -- we havewon but when the count is finished, we believe we will be the winners. we won wisconsin by 20,000 votes. virtually the same margin that president trump one -- won that state. in michigan, we lead by 35,000 votes. than president trump wonargin

michigan in 2016. michigan will complete its vote soon. maybe as early as today. i feel very good about pennsylvania. virtually all of the remaining ballots were cast by mail. we have been winning 70% of the votes by mail in pennsylvania. we flipped arizona. the second district of nebraska as well. that is of special significance to me. we won with the majority of the american people and every indication is that majority will grow. have a popular vote lead of nearly 3 million votes. every indication is that that will grow as well. indeed, senator harris and i are on track to win more votes than any ticket in history of this country. that everyone the boy -- the presidency and the vice presidency. over 70 million votes.

i am very proud of our campaign. only three presidential campaigns in the past have defeated an incumbent president. when it is finished, god willing, we will be the fourth. this is a major achievement. this is a major achievement. it has been a long and difficult campaign. it has been a more difficult time for our country. a hard time. we have had hard campaigns before. we faced hard times before. once this election is finalized and behind us, it will be time for us to do what we have always done as americans. to put the harsh rhetoric of the campaign behind us, to lower the temperatures, to see each other again. to listen to one another. to hear each other again. the respect and care for one another.

to unite, to heal, to come together as a nation. i know this won't be easy. i am not naive. neither of us are. i know how deep and hard the opposing views are in our country on so many things. i also know this as well. to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies. we are not enemies. what brings us together as americans is so much stronger than anything that can tear us apart. let me be clear. we are campaigning as democrat but i will govern as an american president. the presidency itself is not a partisan institution. it is the one office in this nation that represents everyone. it demands a duty of care for

all americans. that is precisely what i will do. i will work as hard for those who did not vote for me as those who did vote for me. no one will take our democracy away from us. americans have come too far. america has fought many battles. americans endured too much to let that happen. we the people will not be silenced. we the people will not be bullied. we the people will not surrender. friends, i am confident we will emerge victorious. this will not be my victory alone or our victory alone. it'll be a victory for the

those ballots should be counted and voters have relied on that system. now, because we have to take the time to count those ballots, those voters should not be discounted. those votes should not be discounted. we have a tradition that we are used to finding out the results of the election on the united states. that is changing because of this move to vote by mail. all of us just need to be patient, let the -- need to do. -- let the election officials do with a need to do. mark: you mentioned that the coronavirus pandemic -- you said that mail-in voting is very much a part of that. donald trump is making a statement to deflect what is going on, to basically try to

fudge the issue and stop the voter counts. do you think his words say more about him or the system? is it say more about the man himself? marcy: -- saying more about the man himself? marcy: i think he is using the confusion about the early election process, the confusion from this year because most people typically vote in person and have switched to taking advantage of vote by mail opportunities. because we have a system where every state has a different way of administering the vote. it often leads to confusion. i think he is trying to take advantage of confusion the voters might have by casting aspersions on our process and into native that what is

actually awful is fraudulent. he should not be allowed to do that. he should not be allowed to undermine our confidence in our electoral system. he is the president, his words have a lot of weight but it is really important for voters and the american public to know what exactly the process and the truth is. mark: you say provide correct information to the voters, do you believe the system is legitimate and works? do you not believe that there is widespread fraud going on? quite there is no widespread fraud going on. the system works. the system can seem complicated.

each state decides voting qualifications. each state has different laws. that does not mean the system is fraudulent or that it is not legitimate. it is just that voters are coming to realize just how -- because of the difference in the voting systems, how election laws are different across states. that is being used to suggest that there is frd. there is no evidence that our system is fraudulent. we can't allow our political leaders to exploit our current system to undermined -- undermined the voters and stop account. it is too important. we just need to push back against that narrative. mark: trump and his supporters saying that maybe there's is

something wrong going on. nobody else is saying that. from your perspective, you would be in the know. you have a right to look at these things. you're confident that there are no problems as trump is pointing out. >> there are no problems. the only problem is if the count is stopped before all eligible votes can be counted. that is where the problem would be. mark: that is the codirector of the voting rights project. thank you for being patient. thank you very much. thank you for sharing your analysis regarding donald trump's query about the voting process. we just heard from joe biden. joe biden is confidence. he says that he will have enough electoral college votes to move forward and take the white house. he says the situation in wisconsin, michigan and pennsylvania are in his favor. donald trump is seeking to query

the results in those areas. we watched with great interest to see what happens there. meanwhile, the count continues. as our guest was just saying, that is the important thing to make sure that democracy is seen and honored in a states of america. let's go live to the u.s.. francois is there. confirm where you are. what are your thoughts on what joe biden was saying? francois: joe biden was on track to win the presidency. the day finishing better than it started for the democratic candidate, what with the results crystallize in in wisconsin and a favorable push for him in michigan. he also said that every vote

must be counted. no one will take away our democracy. undirected jab at donald trump who has been calling for the vote count to stop. republicans suing in pennsylvania to do so. we have also had a report of trouble outside of the voter center in detroit, michigan. with poll watchers trying to get in and trying to get you more on that. as the story develops. these people are starting to turn toward litigation. but we are seeing is the longer the product -- process drags on, the more there is a chance for confusion. irritation, for those lawyers to hone their arguments. that is the big concern. right now, it is all going peacefully, it is the day after election day.

just like any other in the united states. -- any other day in the united states. it is particularly strange when you have a president of the united states crying fraud. we discussed this many times before. trump put three republican leaning estes is in the supreme court, claiming something that trump might be hoping to take advantage of. francois: now sitting on the high bench. when the supreme court refused to allow a recount in florida, enabling george w. bush to be elected against al gore, -- that said, so far, up to now, the rulings have mostly gone the way

of the democrats in the lead up to the vote. we have not had one since the voting actually took place. this is a long similar lines. remember, the last justice, amy coney barrett of stained. she said she hadot had enough time to read all the arguments. if they do hear the case, it is anyone's guess what will happen next. it all depends on what is happening as we get that record number of votes being tabulated. the record number of mail-in ballots.
