songwriter towel. after two acclaimed albums, she is back with a new lp. i guess you could translate it as crazy, inspired by anglo-saxon pop. she used to compose in english, but this record is in french. tell me more about it. i'm joined by owl. >> thank you for inviting me. >> tell me about this album. what inspired this album and title? >> it is inspired by my own chaos, because it was a strange time in my life when i started to compose this album. and i wanted to refresh everything about me. i had the feeling everything is going crazy, so for me, it refers to my own personality at this moment. but it refers to the beauty of chaos. for me it is not in a dramatic way. >> the beauty in chaos.

your first albums were in english mainly and here, you decided to switch to french. why the switch? >> it is strange to say, but my inspirations were most anglo-saxon music, so i started to compose with english words, because my references were more diverse. electronic music. i think it was difficult for me to find a good balance between french words and the music direction i wanted. but when i write a song in this album, it was like a revelation and it was significant for me to continue in french for this album. i think it is almost intimate album i wrote. maybe i was ready for that. >> going back to your home essentially. listening to another track off the album called let them. let's take a listen. ♪

>> so that was by owl. amazing music video. can you tell us a little bit more about what is going on? you got a brace on your leg. did you hurt yourself? >> it was faked for the video, but i realized when i wanted to make this video, i realized that i never use my own stories to show my music. and one i was younger, i had back surgery and i were a corset for a long time. >> a brace. >> we work with calligrapher's

-- choreographers. we wanted to talk about constraints and why we can move with some difficulties. it is why i think it is powerful. you can be sexy and very smart with difficulties physically or mentally. >> so it comes across in your music video. any really do have a unique visual landscape, whether it is in your album cover or your music videos. usually -- you went to art school before going straight into music. has this inspired you? >> yes, i think it has helped me to create my own aesthetic. i used to work with different artists from photography or a director, and for this one, the idea was to mix some digital aspects with something very sensitive. and i know it is a bit creepy,

but it is intentional. >> it definitely works and it works really well with the music as well. so this album, your third album, you switched labels for this album. what is it like for an artist to switch labels is this an opportunity for a completely new you? >> yeah, i was a bit frustrated by the process of the music industry in the big label. so it is why i decided to create my own label in reference. it was very important to me to raise my music -- release my music exactly the way i wanted. it's a lot of work because you have a lot of pressure. it is really different and sometimes difficult to be focused on your creativity. but i think this is really important and more modern to work like this. >> to take the power back on this third album. your songs have appeared in some successful tv series like scam and emily in paris.

that is quite a lot of exposure. what does that change for your career? >> it was a big exposure and i think after the first and the second lockdown, it was great to share my music differently. and i have always been excited by the relation between image and music, so for scam, it was different because i compose or the four last seasons. and it was another process. as for emily, i received a lot of messages from around the world, so it was great. reaching an audience. >> tell us about your new songwriting process. do you work alone, do you work with other people? >> i start alone, but i never learned to read music or to play instruments, so for me, my first instrument is my voice. and i used to use programs and

sound escapes, so for me, it is a bit of a hybrid process. so i cannot really define how i work, but i love to collaborate at the end but yes. it is my own. >> your own process. so you have the name owl. the word owl in english. so what do you think about the french music scene these days, what other artists are excited to you -- exciting to you? >> french artists are really interesting today, because they have a lot of important messages to share. and i have the feeling they push the limits away. so it is interesting for me. >> keep talking about the french scene. some other music making headlines. it is festival season across europe and in france, they are sobering their 30th anniversary. it started out as a small get

together organized by an organization in brittany and it has become france's biggest festival with 300,000 music lovers a day. this year's lineup includes the french music scene. as well as stellar international acts in a drone show every night. the festival's director told my colleague about how important this addition is after two years of the pandemic. >> we are still here, still standing, still alive. i have to admit, it was an incredibly tough moment to live through. we had to hit the brakes so suddenly and then we worked on securing the festival and jobs that came with it. >> so it is back. do you have any favorite memories from a festival that you either attended or performed in? >> yeah i think a few years ago it was my best memories of life. >> definitely. >> and recently, i played in
