election. the candidates of party leaders continued their campaigns amid tighter security. shinzo abe will be the second prime minister to be given a state funeral since the end of world war ii, following the one that died in 1967. sources with the investigation into the shooting say the mother of the suspect donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to a religious organization. the family's financial issues are the key to the suspects motivation behind the attack. tetsuya yamagami was arrested on the spot . he reportedly told police that he resented the organization where his mother was an avid follower. he apparently targeted shinzo abe , in the belief that he was close to it. they said his mother ruined his family by making huge donations to the group. this issue likely donated around $720,000, including the life insurance payout for her

husband's death. the family federation for world peace and unification used to be called unificion church. it says the mother is a member. in the meantime, the national police agency sent a team to inveigate security problems. security sources say dozens of officers were deployed during shinzo abe's speech, including undercover officers, and especially assigned officer. now to the coronavirus situation in japan. authorities in tokyo rose healer to the highest level in response to the seventh wave of infections. this is the first time the capital has reached this alert level since april. the two cases were reported on thursday. the number topped 10,010 days in a row. an expert panel says if the spread of infections maintains this pace, the record of over 23,000 daily cases could be matched by next week.

the daily figure could reach 53,000 in the week after that. the total number of coronavirus cases has topped 10 million. over 80% of them were reported since the beginning of the year. the prime minister says he is not considering any business restrictions at the moment. he is working to provide forest vaccine doses to get workers under the age of 60 as early as next week. the antigovernment protests in sri lanka continue in the wake of the sudden departure of the president. they have declared an emergency and declared a curfew. the president and his wife were fleeing to the maldives after

high inflation and monetary tightening are raising the risk of an economic slowdown in some parts of the united states. the fed released a beige book, containing assessments about the central banks 12 districts. the report says economic activity expanded at a modest pace from mid may, due to strong demand for tourism, and a tighjob market. it says several districts reported growing signs of a slowdown in demand, and five warned of an increased risk of recession. the book notes that higher food and fuel prices hurt consumer spending. they said housing demand got weaker as the monetary tightening pushed up mortgage rates. policymakers are expected to make another large rate hike at the meeting later this month to curb inflation. this is running at four decade highs. the consumer index rose above 9% from a year earlier. implementing rapid tightening without crushing growth could
