typhoon landed on china's east coast bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall. our meteorologist has the details in world weather. >> hello, typhoon muifa pounded shanghai, making the strongest typhoon to do so in recorded history. it dumped heavy rain and caused strong winds. look at this video from eastern china. typhoon muifa made land twice on the east coast. the storm first landed and then struck shanghai shortly afr midnight thursday. e countrs weather agency issued the highest level alert for a typhoon for the first time this year. this comes a week after another typhoon led to a suspension of services and led to school closures. and muifa is expected to make a third land fall.

take a look at this track. we will see heavy rainfall from eastern areas of china and it can make landfall and the fourth landfall in portions of lioni province. a lot of heavy rain is on the way. winds are going to be strong as well. we have a large storm likely to pound a lot of places. now, this system is a large one. right now, a severe tropicalal storm will likely get close to the southwestern islands of japan on saturday and change the course towards the northeast. it could make landfall in western japan's kyushu, move over land or move over the sea of japan into tuesday. according to this model, a lot of heavy rain and strong winds will pound the southwestern islands of japan into saturday, where it could be as high as ten meters. and then as we go into sunday, it could hit parts of kyushu as typhoon strength and move across western japan and affect many areas of japan into tuesday, including the national holiday. a lot of heavy rain is on the menu for the country into tuesday, at least. and it was a hot dayn thursday in japan. that's it for me.
